The elder snoozing in a soft chair in Lillian’s room would never know who shot the laser into his head.
His death was silent, quick and painless.
Not even Lillian heard the stranger until she heard the voice.
Right in her ear.
“It’s time.”
Lillian moved her head towards the voice and her eyes opened wide as if in recognition.
“You!” She whispered.
“No time for chit-chat. It’s time to meet your maker. I’m just going to fast forward it.”
“You’ll regret this...”
“Regret can be contained. But you will never know because you won’t be here.”
Lillian lashed out at the stranger kneeling beside her, a futile, weak attempt to defend herself.
“Goodbye, Lillian.”
