"He's just a nobody. Why would I not dare to kill him?" replied Ye Fan coolly.

His voice remained calm like the smooth surface of a lake, without any ripple of emotion.

It was as if he had just crushed an ant and not a man who had been an instructor of the military and a powerful martial artist.

"You...you have gone too far! You have no respect for authority at all!" Ye Fan's words had infuriated Wu Yang. His face was dark with rage as he tried to rein in his temper while reprimanding Ye Fan for his actions. "Ye Fan, do you really think you can do whatever you want because you have the backing of people like Lu Tian-He? Do you really think there's nothing I can do to you? I have every right to instruct every man in the military to shoot you down for the crime that you've just committed!"

Wu Yang's words appeared to be too harsh.

Alarm flashed across the faces of numerous soldiers.

Fear seized Ye Yu-Yan and her teammates.

They didn't care if they died, but they didn't want Ye Fan to suffer alongside them.

They didn't want him to be hunted down by Wu Yang and the military.

That wasn't what the Green Dragon Force wanted for their instructor.

Ye Fan didn't seem fazed by Wu Yang's threat at all. He laughed softly.

His laughter betrayed his scorn, disdain and utter callousness for Wu Yang's words.

"Do you really wish to kill me? You could try. I should warn you though. I never leave a debt unpaid or a grudge unsettled. Any man who tries to come after me will be hunted down by me in return." Ye Fan's softly uttered words exploded like bombs in their midst.

The winds began to howl.

Despite the hundreds of meters that separated them, they could sense a murderous aura emanating from the smiling young man.

Countless faces turned pale then.

Ye Fan had made himself very clear.

If Wu Yang dared to issue an order and command these soldiers to kill Ye Fan, Ye Fan would retaliate and kill Wu Yang.

"Oh my god, is he mad? How could he speak this way to our commander-in-chief?"

Ye Fan's words had every soldier reeling back in shock.

Wu Yang was the commander-in-chief of the three armies. Under his command were hundreds of thousands of soldiers.

Few men dared to defy such a powerful man.

Yet this young man standing before them had sworn that he would get his just and equal pound of flesh if Wu Yang dared to make an enemy of him.

His words had undoubtedly caused Wu Yang great offense and insult.

There was no way Wu Yang wasn't going to be infuriated.

"You're really something, Ye Fan. How dare you threaten me! We shall see who falls first. Will you be trampled by my legions of men first or will I die by your hand first?" growled Wu Yang.

He was the commander-in-chief of the three armies. There was no way he was going to stand by and let a young punk hurl threats of death at him.

He was going to make this audacious young man eat his words. The latter was going to regret what he had said when he was riddled with bullets and lay in a pool of his own blood. He was going to pay for his arrogance with his life!

"Lin Qing-He, I want you to deploy the heavy artillery units in our base right now!" bellowed Wu Yang.

A man rushed towards Wu Yang and threw his arms around the latter.

"Commander Wu, please don't act rashly! Let's talk this out. Please don't put all our lives at stake and get into a fight with Instructor Chu!" the man howled as he pleaded desperately. The Green Dragon Force was startled when they realized whom the man was.

It was no other than Wang Dong-Sheng, the man who had taken great care of them.

Chen Lan had thrown him into the military prison earlier that day.

But it hadn't been difficult for him to escape from his cell at all. He had been a soldier for many years and had made many friends in the military.

Besides, he hadn't committed anything serious. All he had done was to disagree

with Chen Lan.

That shouldn't have warranted any punishment at all. Chen Lan had abused his authority when he had Wang Dong-Sheng thrown into a confinement cell.

All these factors had then culminated in Wang Dong-Sheng's early release.

He had been worried about the Green Dragon Force's safety and that Chen Lan might do something terrible. Wang Dong-Sheng had tried to reach Ye Fan that afternoon and had managed to inform Ye Fan about the Green Dragon Force's predicament.

That had been why Ye Fan had appeared outside the military camp that night.

Wang Dong-Sheng had thought that Ye Fan would simply teach Chen Lan a lesson and give the latter a good thrashing.

He had not expected Ye Fan to kill the man without even batting an eyelid!

In fact, Ye Fan had killed the instructor in front of Wu Yang.

Wang Dong-Sheng had realized the moment that Chen Lan had died that they now had a terrible mess on their hands. This was a disaster.

There was no way Ye Fan could reclaim his position in the military now.

"Step aside, Wang Dong-Sheng. Be mindful of where your allegiance lies. I've told you once and I'll tell you again. Ye Fan has been stripped of his position in the military. No one is to address him as an instructor. He is a criminal!" thundered Wu Yang furiously.

"Commander Wu, even though Mr Chu is no longer an instructor of the military and he's made a huge mistake, we must still remember that he was transferred here upon General Lu's recommendation. We also mustn't forget that he has the favor of General Ye Qing-Tian," said Wang Dong-Sheng as he urged the commander to change his mind.

"You might not care for General Lu, but what about General Ye? Shouldn't you have a care for what he might think? General Ye approves of Mr Chu and regards him highly. Killing Mr Chu would be akin to insulting General Ye. The consequences of that are unthinkable."

Left with no other choice, Wang Dong-Sheng decided to use Lu Tian-He and Ye Tian-Qing as excuses to stop Wu Yang from issuing an order to attack Ye Fan. No one was going to believe him if he told them that Ye Fan was invincible and that no army was going to take him down.

He had made the right move. Wu Yang froze momentarily when he heard the mention of Ye Qing-Tian's name and began to reconsider his decision.

Wu Yang knew that the general had sought Ye Fan out secretly when he had arrived at the Jiangdong military camp.

In fact, before Ye Qing-Tian had departed from their camp, he had told Wu Yang that he had high hopes for Ye Fan and told him to take good care of the young man.

He wasn't particularly concerned about Lu Tian-He but Ye Qing-Tian was a man whom he had to be careful of.

He was akin to a legend in the military.

Even though he did not hold any position in the military and wielded no actual power in this area, Ye Qing-Tian never needed either of those.

His presence alone was enough to remind everyone in the military of his achievements, which they could never hope to surpass.

No one commanded the same level of respect that he did.

That explained Wu Yang's reaction when he had heard what Wang Dong-Sheng had said.
