Wu Yang kept yelling.

Two soldiers standing next to him rushed forward and tried to pull Wang Dong-Sheng and Lin Qing-He apart to no avail. Wang Dong-Sheng appeared to have gone mad as he flung his fists at and thrusted his feet into Lin Qing-He wildly.

With the help of another two soldiers, they finally managed to pull Wang Dong-Sheng off Lin Qing-He.

Lin Qing-He was beyond recognition at that point.

His nose was broken and his face had swollen up. Blood flowed profusely from his injuries.

He needed help to stay on his feet.

Despite the state that he was in, Lin Qing-He continued hurling curses at Wang Dong-Sheng. "You bastard! How dare you hit me! How dare you...!"

Wang Dong-Sheng gave Lin Qing-He another hard kick and sent him sprawling on the ground.

"That's enough! What are you trying to do, Wang Dong-Sheng? Lin Qing-He's the deputy commander of the Jiangdong military camp and you're just a colonel. How dare you attack him! Apologize to him immediately!" thundered Wu Yang.

"Apologize? Why should I apologize to him? Sir, you saw what he did when I tried to give you my words of advice. He interrupted me and then hit me without any reason or cause. I'm a hotblooded man and a soldier. I don't care if he's the deputy commander. I won't allow him to insult my honor," Wang Dong-Sheng shot back fiercely. It was clear that he had no intention of apologizing for what he had just done. "Are you going to defy my orders too, Wang Dong-Sheng? Even if Lin Qing-He's done anything wrong, I'm the one who gets to punish him for it, not you! No matter what reasons you have, you shouldn't hit your superior. That puts you in the wrong. I order you to apologize to Lin Qing-He. I'll allow this matter to pass if you do. Or else, don't blame me for casting you out of the military like I did to the Green Dragon Force!" bellowed Wu Yang furiously.

The Green Dragon Force's insubordination had caused him great embarrassment and humiliation in front of his men.

Wang Dong-Sheng was doing the same and this time, Wu Yang wasn't going to relent. He was adamant to have Wang Dong-Sheng apologize to Lin Qing-He.

He did not expect Wang Dong-Sheng to yank his uniform off and throw it onto the ground.

"What...what is the meaning of this?" thundered Wu Yang as his wide eyes glared at Wang Dong-Sheng in shock and disbelief.

"Commander Wu, I planned to issue a formal resignation to you. It seems that there's no need for that now," said Wang Dong-Sheng.

A tremor coursed through Wu Yang's body when he heard what Wang Dong-Sheng had said. His eyes widened further in shock. "Are you going to resign from the Jiangdong military too? Have you thought this through, Wang Dong-Sheng? You're throwing decades of hard work down the drain! You won't receive any compensation or benefits from the military. Your name will be struck from our records forever! You can still retract your statement. It's not too late yet."

Wu Yang tried to persuade the subordinate who had served him for decades against the folly of his decision.

Wang Dong-Sheng simply shook his head.

"You don't have to say another word. Life is short. I've had enough of suffering other people's tantrums. I know what I'm doing. Men like Lin Qing-He don't deserve my loyalty or devotion. It's to heroes like Instructor Chu whom I should be devoting my life and service to! Commander Wu, I bid you farewell. Please take care. I doubt our paths will cross again."

The colonel's words were loud and clear in the quiet of the night.

He did not care for what Wu Yang had to say and instead, turned and left in pursuit of Ye Fan and the Green Dragon Force.

The men who were left in his wake stared at one another.

Wu Yang stood frozen to his spot, utterly stupefied and stunned speechless.

His eyes gradually grew red. After a moment, he cursed out loud.

"Fine. Leave. See if I care! Don't you dare come back! You're all ingrates, all of you! All those years of kindness have been wasted on you!" roared Wu Yang.

Waves of fury and humiliation washed over Wu Yang as he suffered the repeated betrayals of his men before thousands of soldiers.

He could understand why the Green Dragon Force had chosen to leave with Ye Fan. They were soldiers whom Ye Fan had trained personally after all.

But Wang Dong-Sheng's departure had come as a huge blow to Wu Yang.

The blow that it dealt him had been greater than that by the Green Dragon Force.

The message his departure was sending to the rest of the soldiers in the Jiangdong military was loud and clear. Wu Yang was an incompetent commander who did not have his men's loyalty.

Wu Yang could not have foreseen this. Despite his position as the commander, he had been utterly defeated by a young man.

The night ended with Wu Yang fuming in endless rage and frustration.

Meanwhile, Wang Dong-Sheng had caught up with Ye Fan.

"Uncle Wang, why are you here?" asked Ye Yu-Yan and her teammates warmly as they gathered around the man.

This man had taken care of them and watched over them. The Green Dragon Force had developed a kinship with him.

To Ye Yu-Yan's question, Wang Dong-Sheng offered no answer. Amidst the startled looks of Tai Shan and his teammates, he walked up to Ye Fan and fell to his knees.

His knees landed with a resounding thud. He kowtowed to Ye Fan. "Instructor Chu, your power knows no bounds. You are unrivalled in your prowess, the one and only. Since I first witnessed your prowess in Yunzhou, I have harbored nothing but respect and awe for you. I ask humbly that Instructor Chu take me in. I hereby swear my undying loyalty to you. From this day, I shall serve no one but Instructor Chu!" Determination shone brightly in Wang Dong-Sheng's eyes as he spoke firmly and resolutely.

Ye Yu-Yan and her teammates were both surprised and elated.

They were overjoyed that Instructor Chu had gained another competent follower.

They were also surprised by their instructor's charisma. The man had won over Wang Dong-Sheng, a man who had served the military dutifully and devotedly for decades.

Ye Fan seemed unmoved by Wang Dong-Sheng's words.

His hands remained folded behind his back as he stared at Wang Dong-Sheng dispassionately. 'Tm now an enemy of the Jiangdong military. If you become my follower, you too shall become the Jiangdong military's enemy and be hunted down by them. All your efforts in building your career over the decades will be for nothing. Nothing will remain of your accolades and achievements. Are you sure? Have you truly thought this through carefully?"

Wang Dong-Sheng nodded without any hint of hesitation. "Instructor Chu, I've thought this through carefully. The wise bird chooses the branch upon which it makes its nest with care. The good man chooses the lord whom he is to serve with equal care. Wu Yang is a foolish man who doesn't know right from wrong. He does not deserve the loyalty of good men."
