Chen Nan wasn't dumb. She couldn't say some things out loud, but she knew what was really happening. She had tolerated their behavior till now because she didn't want to put the other three in a spot.

"Nannan, you...you're being foolish!" Professor An started getting angry and anxious when he saw her reaction.

He was angry that this Chen Nan didn't seem to know what was good for her.

He was anxious because he was afraid that Chen Nan was now in trouble.

They were at a party that Abe Chuunan was hosting after all.

If Chen Nan refused the host in front of so many people, the host wouldn't let her off for sure.

Just when Chen Nan turned around to leave, the bodyguards next to Abe Chuunan walked out and blocked Chen Nan's way.

"Miss Chen, Mr Abe has invited you over to sit." Their cold and harsh tone of voice sounded more like a command to her, and it didn't leave her any room to speak.

"Miss Chen, why don't you take a seat?" said Abe Chuunan with a faint smile as he pointed to the chair next to him.

But Chen Nan wasn't giving in.

"I said I don't know how to drink, and I don't want to accompany you. Move aside! I'm going back to look for fan," said Chen Nan stubbornly even though her face was already pale. She tried to walk back to her table again.

But Chen Nan was just a weak and young lady. There was no way she could get through the two bodyguards.

"Miss Chen, if you do not cooperate, don't blame us for getting nasty," came the low voice of one of the bodyguards.

They were clearly prepared to take Chen Nan over by force.

"Why put yourself through such suffering? Why don't you just cooperate and accompany him for some drinks? Mr Abe is the one who has personally invited you to his table but you've just refused him outright like this. Of course he's not going to just let you go like that," sighed Professor An as he shook his head.

All three of them were looking pitifully at Chen Nan.

This was how life was. Sometimes, one was just not strong enough to fight back.

So it was easier to just go with the flow and enjoy the process instead of struggling.

From the moment Abe Chuunan wanted Chen Nan to stay behind, the other three with her already knew that Chen Nan would have to stay no matter what.

Many people in the hall had started to notice the commotion over here.

But nobody stood up and nobody tried to plead for Chen Nan.

After all, everyone present was here to gain Abe Chuunan's favor.

Everyone in the room started to turn around.

Countless pairs of eyes looked towards where the voice came from at the same time.

They saw a striking young man seated quietly at his table.

His back was facing the others and he was holding a freshly brewed cup of tea.

The fragrant steam rising from the hot tea was swirling around his nostrils.

He didn't even turn around when he spoke.

He didn't even look at Abe Chuunan.

His arrogance was painfully apparent.

"Who is this guy? He's dressed so poorly. Did he sneak in or something?"

On such occasions, all the men were at least in suits while the women were in evening gowns. But this man was dressed casually, wore sports shoes, and seemed too poor to even afford a watch. He stuck out like a sore thumb in this place.

"What the heck? Bro, are you nuts? Do you know who you're talking to? Didn't we already tell you not to talk too much and not to make any trouble? Can't you tell that this is not your place to talk?" Liang Hao- Nan's body shook as he reprimanded the person seated at the table.

That's right the young man who just spoke up earlier was Ye Fan.

After all, they were the ones who came in with Ye Fan.

Now that Ye Fan was saying such outrageous things, Abe Chuunan might fly off the handle and implicate them.

But Ye Fan ignored all the nasty words directed at him and didn't seem to have heard them.
