Jacob was dropped off at his home before the duo left.

As soon as they stepped out of the mansion, they spotted Connor leaning against his car door, looking a bit grim.

Erica forced a smile, "Good evening, Mr. Connor. Here to pick up Cami?"

Connor nodded and gestured for Camila to come over.

"We'll drive you home," Camila offered Erica.

Erica, visibly reluctant, shook her head. "No need, it's out of your way."

"Logan's on his way; he should be here soon," Connor mentioned.

"I'll wait with you," Camila offered again.

"No need to keep me company; I'll wait at home," Erica pointed to the neighboring villa.

With that, she quickly turned and walked towards her house.

"Let's go," Connor said, opening the car door for Camila, who gracefully slid into the passenger seat. "Why come to pick me up without saying a word?" Camila asked as she buckled her seatbelt.

"Just felt like it," Connor replied nonchalantly.

"Have you eaten?" Camila inquired.

"Yeah," he responded, sniffing the air around Camila and frowning slightly. "Have you been drinking?"

"I haven't. Erica and Wesley had a dozen beers. Wesley got drunk, so we drove him home." Connor grumbled, "A grown man needing women to drive him home? Not a good look." Camila chuckled with a mix of resignation and mockery in her voice, "Jealous?"

Pretending indifference, Connor retorted, "I'm not jealous, just saying the guy doesn't measure up." Laughing lightly, Camila took his hand, feeling the warmth of his palm envelop hers.

"First off, I've known Wesley for ages."

After a moment's thought, she continued, "About sixteen or

seventeen years. He's not exaod net

my childhood sweetheart, but he's a

close friend from way back

"Uh-huh."

Looking up, Camila asked, "What's that 'uh-huh' for?"

"Nothing, just envious he met you so early."

Camila glanced at him and laughed, "And you claim you're not jealous."

After a pause, she added, "Don't worry, your girlfriend isn't everyone's darling."

Connor looked curious, "Are you saying he's not into you?"

"Of course! He likes... Erica," Camila replied with a laugh.

Connor paused, his mood visibly improving as he processed the information.

"Wesley and Erica were each other's first loves, but they broke up not

long after getting together. Erica felt they were better off as friends. She's moved on, but Wesley hasn't. He still thinks that once Erica 'gets it out of her system,' she'll realize he's the right one for her."

Connor's lips curved slightly, "Suddenly, I feel he's quite devoted, almost pitiable."

Camila frowned slightly, "Probably because he knows Erica and Mr. Logan are living together now. He must feel he's losing her even more."

"Love isn't something you wait for. If he didn't fight for it before, it's his fault Erica is with someone else now," Connor stated.

Camila sighed, "Wesley is a good guy, but perhaps just meant to be friends with Erica."

She texted Erica to check if she had gotten into the car.

Erica sent a voice message back, and without thinking, Camila played it aloud.

"Logan will be here in five minutes.

Are you okay? Connor scared the t

daylights out of me, standing at the mansion door like a ghost, as stern as

o."

Startled, Camila quickly turned off the sound.
