Alexis hadn’t pursued a divorce, continuing to care for their two children as before without even bringing up separation.

Yet, as time passed, Leonel sensed her growing detachment.

Despite his attempts to rekindle their connection, Alexis remained unresponsive, her attention seemingly elsewhere.

For a while, he’d insist on being intimate with her every night…

One rainy evening, with the kids still around, there was a young, pretty lady in their bed, obviously a lady of the night.

She was Leonel’s type.

In that moment, Leonel’s eyes were bloodshot.

He loosened his tie, yelled at the woman to scram, and then looked around, only to find that Alexis had already moved her stuff out of the main bedroom.

He found her in the guest room.

She sat quietly by the bedside, neat and tidy, in a white robe, flipping through a legal book.

Leonel, acting Like a lunatic, grabbed his tie and looped it around Alexis’ wrists.

That night, he had raw s@x with her.

He’d never been so rough with her.

Come dawn, Alexis lay still, not even glancing at him or telling him to hit the road.

Leonel leaned in close to her neck and pleaded, “Alexis, don’t freeze me out like this!”

Alexis seemed unmoved.

From then on, they barely spent any time together.

It wasn’t that Leonel didn’t want to, but whenever he saw Alexis’ indifferent face, he couldn’t go through with what he had in mind.

As time passed, he seemed to care less.

.

While Waylen chatted with Alexis, the help announced, “Mr.

Douglas is back.

Alexis glanced over.

In the well-lit foyer, Leonel shrugged off his coat, handed it to the help, and then made his way over to them.

Since they didn’t reside with their folks anymore, he brought a gift for his visit-some black tea that Waylen had taken a liking to recently.

“I’m here to pick Alexis up.

” Leonel’s tone was polite and composed, as if they were still the picture of marital bliss.

Truth was, their union wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows, but they kept up appearances, and Waylen could only pretend not to notice.

Waylen still held out hope for them to get along swimmingly.

Accepting the tea, he grinned and said, “This is top-notch.

Thanks a bunch!”

Leonel leaned in, took a seat, glanced at his wife, and then asked softly, “Mind if I have a game of chess with your old man first?”

Though he acted like he was seeking permission, his mind was already made up.

Over the years, despite their rocky relationship, his business had thrived, leaving him with few chances to visit Waylen.

Among the younger crowd, only Leonel could play chess or have tea with Waylen.

Nodding, Alexis stood and declared, “I’ll wait for you upstairs.
