Not buying his words, Jessie shook her head and said, “I just came to see how you are doing, and now that I’ve done that, I’ll be on my way.

At that moment, Melissa walked up to the duo and adjusted the bed so that Albert would be able to lie down.

Without making any noise, all the senior executives of the Waston Group that were around left the room, leaving Albert, Jessie, and Melissa alone.

Despite the unbearable pain in his lower abdomen, Albert was still able to muster a smile for Jessie.

With a gentle voice, he asked, “Did you bring any gifts for me? At least you must have brought me some tonics, right?”

Jessie shook her head and stiffly replied, “No.

Seeing her reaction, Albert simply chuckled and kept on smiling.

Watching them, Melissa couldn’t help but sigh inwardly.

Albert was quite a character.

Knowing Albert, Melissa was well aware that he had been quite energetic when he was young.

Which made it all the more surprising that someone as weak as Axell had been able to hurt him.

The last time that both men had fought each other, Albert had come out on top by beating Axell convincingly.

Why was he injured so badly this time?

But since she was still on Albert’s payroll, Melissa wasn’t one to speak carelessly and therefore didn’t share her thoughts with anyone.

Believing that she had done what she came to do, Jessie cleared her throat and said, “Well, Albert, since you’re fine, I’ll be on my way now.

Without giving Jessie a reply, Albert simply glanced at Melissa.

Understanding his signal, Melissa smiled and said, “Oh my God, Mr.

Waston, the time is far gone! I have to be on my way home now.

”

After saying that, she turned to Jessie and said, “I hope you guys have a good talk.

”

Before Jessie could protest, Melissa turned around, walked out the door, and closed it behind her.

Now finally alone with Jessie, Albert opened his mouth to say something sweet to her, but at that moment, Elsie came out of the adjoining suite with Jeslyn, who looked scared, in her arms.

With a worried voice, Elsie said to Albert, “Miss Jeslyn was just subjected to another nightmare and woke up crying.

”

The moment Elsie finished talking, she finally saw Jessie and exclaimed in a surprised and pleased tone, “Miss Green, you are here!”

Jessie nodded slowly and stared at Jeslyn in Elsie’s arms.

In the few days that she hadn’t seen Jeslyn, the poor girl had lost a significant amount of weight.

Remembering what Melissa had said about what Jeslyn had gone through, Jessie’s heart constricted and she felt bad for Joslyn.

To Jessie, Axell was nothing short of a monster to have hurt such a sweet little girl like Jeslyn.
