Chapter 278
“Jamison! What on earth are you raving about? Stop embarrassing me!”
Roselynn couldn’t help but shout at him.
However, Jamison refused to listen and continued screaming, “Come quickly!
There’s a thief here! She stole 30 million!”
Her frown became deeper. Had she not been wearing a wedding dress which
hindered her movements, she would have kicked him out herself.
!
“What’s wrong? What happened here?” The Oatleys soon arrived since the
bride was there in preparation for the ceremony.
“Jaxton! You all came just in time! Kick that lunatic out!” She pointed directly
at Jamison, refusing to give him any courtesy even though he was her
relative.
However, the Oatleys knew nothing about the relationship between them,
only that he was a relative of the bride’s. Why did the bride want to kick her
relative out? It was far too puzzling!
However, Jaxton would always support his wife, and he directed a look
toward his bodyguards as a signal for them to take action.
“Hang on! Look at what she’s wearing around her neck!” Jamison didn’t mind
being kicked out, but Roselynn’s treatment of him really gave him the urge to
make her suffer.
Jaxton then looked at Roselynn, noticing that the necklace she was wearing
wasn’t the clunky gold one he had bought for her. This displeased him
somewhat since the Oatleys had a family tradition where the bride had to
wear gold jewelry during the wedding. The more she wore and the clunkier it,
was, the better. She was now wearing a wedding dress, so it was fine if she
didn’t wear any other gold jewelry. However, why wasn’t she even wearing
her gold necklace?
“Hey, isn’t that Selina’s necklace? Why is the bride wearing it?” Many of the
Oatley family members recognized it. How could they ever mistake it when
Selina had been proudly displaying it for everyone to see?
However, Roselynn didn’t know what they were talking about and became
confused.
“Roselynn, why have you changed to another necklace?” Jaxton questioned
her sternly.
She knew from his expression that the issue was with her necklace, but she
replied honestly, “The gold necklace was too clunky and didn’t match the
wedding dress, so my sister–in–law lent hers to me.”
Jaxton’s expression darkened at once. He was already embarrassed by his
wife’s refusal to wear the necklace he had given her, not to mention that she
claimed it was her sister–in–law’s when the necklace actually belonged to his
cousin. Roselynn was publicly twisting the facts here!
“What’s wrong? What happened?”
Selina and Isaac hadn’t planned on joining in on the commotion, but
someone had notified her that her necklace had been stolen. It was then that
she remembered forgetting to put it back on after making out with Isaac, so
she had come over to take a look. She immediately noticed that her necklace
was really around the bride’s neck, which annoyed her.
“Jaxton, Roselynn could’ve just told me if she liked my necklace. I never said I
wouldn’t lend it to her so she could show it off, but she shouldn’t have taken it
without permission!” Selina informed Roselynn arrogantly while directing a
scornful look at her.
Selina had already known that Jaxton was marrying a commoner, but she
didn’t think that Roselynn would actually act like one. Selina couldn’t believe
that Roselynn was vain despite being penniless. How shameless she is to
steal and wear my necklace!
Roselynn was infuriated by the look in her eyes and immediately retorted,
“You’re talking rubbish. How can this be yours? My sister–in–law lent it to me!”
“Oh, keep lying!” Selina was enraged and immediately humiliated Roselynn in
front of everyone, no longer concerned for Jaxton’s reputation. “It’s okay to be
poor, but stealing and lying is a moral issue. How can our family ever accept
a woman like you?”
Selina’s words were like a bomb which caused the scene to erupt into chaos.
Everyone present supported Selina unanimously and called the bride
shameless. The noise soon drew the attention of many guests at the
4
banquet.

“Where’s Roselynn? Why hasn’t she shown up yet?” Alessandra grew
increasingly anxious, fearing that something might go wrong with the
wedding reception.
“Mom, I’ll come with you to find out what’s going on.” Emmanuel sensed his
mother’s impatience. She wouldn’t be at peace until she laid eyes on her
daughter. He rose from his seat, ready to accompany her out of the banquet
hall.
To their surprise, the Oatley family staff present urged them to stay calm. The
staff emphasized that as it was their family’s event, any issues should be
handled by the groom.
Emmanuel and Alessandra remained clueless about what was happening
outside the hall, but out of respect for the groom’s arrangements, she
reluctantly returned to her seat.
“Don’t worry, Ms. Cadigan, I’ll go and find Roselynn!” Claudette, a member of
the bridesmaid team, insisted on searching for her.
Meanwhile, Roselynn found herself surrounded and attacked by a group of
Oatley family relatives. Unable to defend herself, she mustered the strength
to confront them. “Y–You all better watch your mouths and show some
respect! I’m not a thief! I have no interest in anything belonging to the Oatley
family! This necklace was borrowed from Mackenzie, not Selina!”
As Selina witnessed Roselynn’s defiance, her anger reached its peak,
prompting her to swiftly approach and deliver a forceful slap across
Roselynn’s face.
Slap!
Roselynn didn’t expect an Oatley to actually lay hands on her. She was
momentarily taken aback by the blow.
After being slapped, she instinctively sought out Jaxton’s gaze.
After all, he was the only person she could rely on within the Oatley family.
However, Jaxton deliberately averted his eyes, firmly believing that she was shameless and deceitful. He couldn’t bring himself to support her in this
predicament.
Sebastian and Jennifer made their entrance, convinced that they had the
entire situation figured out, and haughtily demanded, “Roselynn, apologize to
Selina right now and give back the necklace to her!”
Gritting her teeth, Roselynn fought back tears of frustration. “The necklace
doesn’t belong to her, so why should I apologize? It’s her who should
apologize!”
“Heh, I’ve never seen such a shameless woman in my life! Give it back to me
now!” Selina not only hurled verbal abuse at Roselynn but also resorted to
physically pulling and tugging at her.
However, Roselynn stood taller and possessed a more commanding
presence than Selina. She refused to be intimated and forcefully pushed
Selina away.
“Ah!” Selina tumbled to the ground.
As his wounded ego demanded attention, Isaac seized the moment to assert
his strength and leave an impression. He charged forward, forcefully shoving
Roselynn to the ground and following it up with two brutal kicks.
Roselynn curled up in pain on the ground.
The Oatley family felt ashamed witnessing the bride being subjected to such
violence, yet none of them stepped forward to assist Roselynn.
Jennifer even instructed the staff to prevent anyone from entering from the
outside, forbidding any idle onlookers from intervening. If news of the incident
leaked out, it would only further tarnish the Oatley family’s reputation.
“Roselynn, return the necklace to Selina immediately and spare yourself
further embarrassment!” Jaxton’s conviction that Roselynn had stolen the
object was unwavering. Not only did he refuse to defend her, but he also
demanded that she hand over the necklace. His expression grew darker, and
he appeared ready to take action if she didn’t comply.
“I–I didn’t steal anything! If you don’t believe me, I’ll have Mackenzie come
here and clear things up face–to–face!” Even in this critical moment,
Roselynn refused to admit guilt.
Unfortunately, being caught up in wedding preparations, she had left her
phone behind and couldn’t reach out to Emmanuel and Mackenzie at all.
Witnessing the scene, Jamison couldn’t help but smirk with satisfaction. With
everyone’s attention fixed on Roselynn, he saw the perfect opportunity to slip
away unnoticed.
This way, no one would suspect him as the true culprit behind the theft of
Selina’s necklace.
He reveled in the prospect of striking it rich.
However, just as he turned to make his escape, the hotel’s general manager
personally led an elderly man and a wealthy–looking woman inside at the far
end of the hotel corridor.
A contingent of hotel security guards trailed behind them.
What a grand entrance it was!
