"What's going on?" Aaron's voice was sharp as he hung up the phone, quickly striding over.

Selena raised her arm, revealing a scrape near her elbow where the skin had been scratched, a faint trace of blood seeping from the mark where Lila had pinched her.

Her face was cold as she spoke, "Aaron, it's clear your sister doesn't like me. First, she criticizes the gift I gave her, then belittles my background, and now she's physically hurt me. Since I'm so unwelcome here, I'll just leave." With that, she turned and started walking away.

Aaron's expression darkened instantly.

He shot a glare at Lila. "What do you think you're doing?"

Lila's eyes filled with tears, and she shook her head pitifully. "I didn't hurt her, I swear! She misunderstood. Brother, I didn't do anything."

But Aaron wasn't interested in hearing her excuses.

Without another word, he quickly followed after Selena.

"Brother!" Lila called out desperately, trying to stop him, but he didn't even glance back.

One of the servants approached to comfort her. "Miss Lila, please don't cry. It's not good for your health."

Lila had congenital heart issues and had spent years abroad undergoing treatment. Her condition had only recently stabilized.

Biting her lip in frustration, Lila's eyes filled with bitterness. That woman had stolen her brother's affection. She wouldn't let her get away with it.

...

Selena strolled casually toward the front door when Aaron caught up to her a few moments later.

"Let me see your arm," he said, gently taking hold of it.

"It's nothing," Selena replied. "Let's just say I got bitten by a dog."

Aaron frowned. "That's not the same. A dog bite needs rabies shots."

Selena gave him a playful shove, but as she looked into his handsome face, she suddenly said, "Your sister... she's into you."

Aaron's brow furrowed immediately. "I've noticed. It's pretty disgusting."

Selena couldn't help but laugh. "What am I going to do? I feel like I'm in for some serious trouble."

Aaron shook his head. "No need to deal with the Fletcher family if you don't want to. If they can't see you, they can't bother you. If you do have to go, I'll be with you." With that, they walked out of the villa and got into the car, leaving Lila behind.

Originally, they hadn't planned to stay at the villa-they had already booked a hotel.

Selena remained silent, saying nothing.

Aaron, however, wasn't pleased with her quietness. He gently grasped her chin, tilting her face toward him. "Why aren't you saying anything?" Selena blinked and replied, "What should I say? I knew what I was getting into when I decided to be with you, so I'm not bothered by any of it." Aaron's expression softened, a hint of concern crossing his face. He leaned in, kissing her gently. "Selena, I won't let anyone hurt you."

He was the one who had chosen to marry her, so it was his duty to protect her.

Selena nodded. "I trust you."

They spent the night at the hotel, and the next day, they headed back home.

On the flight, there was no sign of Lila, and Selena had no interest in thinking about her.

However, shortly after the plane landed, Aaron's phone rang. He glanced at the screen and immediately hung up.

Turning to Selena, he asked, "What do you feel like eating?"

"Barbecue," she replied without hesitation.

Aaron raised an eyebrow. "It's the middle of the day. Where are we going to find barbecue?"

Selena pouted. "Then whatever. I don't care."

Aaron pinched her cheek playfully, but just then, Selena's phone started ringing.

She checked the screen and saw it was Aaron's mother calling.
