After the Eight Years of Love I Gave Up -
Chapter 27
Book 3- Chapter 6
That night, when I pushed open the door to my home, I saw Ryker sitting on the sofa with a gloomy face.
And what was more ridiculous was that sitting beside him was Sage, with a face full of concern.
Seeing me come in, Ryker sprang up from the sofa, glaring at me angrily.
"You finally know to come back?!"
"A whole day and night, where did you go?!"
"Not answering calls or replying to messages, do you know how worried I was? I was about to call the police!" Ryker stared at me intently, his eyes red-rimmed.
If I hadn't heard with my own ears his conversation with Sage in the car, I would never have suspected. However, at this moment, looking at his seemingly anxious and deep love, I only found it laughable. "Worried about me?"
"Yes, Lark!" Sage rushed over upon hearing this and grabbed my hand: "Ryker has been calling you all night, he hasn't closed his eyes for a day and night, he really cares about you!" However, after hearing this, I just stared at her silently.
"How do you know he hasn't closed his eyes for a day and night?"
Sage's words suddenly stopped, she realized that her words had inadvertently revealed the fact that they had been together all night, and she looked at Ryker in horror.
Ryker's face turned pale, and he subconsciously explained.
"I, I called Sage yesterday to look for you, she was also worried about you and specially rushed over."
I looked at him coldly, watching as cold sweat dripped down Ryker's temples.
Just as the atmosphere was about to break, I suddenly smiled.
"It's still my Sage who cares about me." I intimately hugged Ryker's arm: "Sage, look how much my husband cares about me, you should also find a boyfriend who is as devoted as Ryker in the future. Was what I just said correct, honey?" Ryker's face was extremely awkward, but he still managed to force out a smile: "Yes, you're right."
Looking across, Sage was staring at my hand holding Ryker's arm, her eyes so venomous that she seemed to want to burn two holes in my body. Such a terrifying gaze, I had overlooked it for a full ten years.
Seeming to notice that I was looking at her, Sage immediately changed her expression, smiling hypocritically.
"Where could I find such good luck as yours? Men as good as Ryker are too hard to find in this world, I really wish I could find one exactly like him." "What a pity." I snuggled closer to Ryker: "I made the first move, and my husband loves me too much. If he could like you, I would give him to you." After saying this, I turned to look at the stiff-faced Ryker: "Honey, do you like Sage?"
Sage's hypocritical mask could no longer hold up, her eyes fixed on Ryker.
I knew she couldn't control her hope that Ryker would say something she wanted to hear.
But Ryker just put his arm around my shoulder and smiled lightly: "How could that be possible? You know, you're the only one in my heart."
I looked at him and smiled, the corners of my mouth lifting.
Sage opposite finally couldn't pretend anymore, she angrily picked up her bag, threw down a "I'm leaving first" and turned to leave.
I watched Sage's angry departing figure with satisfaction.
Does it hurt, Sage?
Don't rush, there's more pain to come.
