"I don't think so. He's too busy. I won't drag him into this," Isabel answered. Before she could say anything else. Samuel spoke up.

"You didn't even ask Xan, so how do you know he's busy? I bet you just don't want him getting in the way of you and the class president." Isabel froze.

She turned to face Samuel, her brow furrowing. "Don't talk nonsense. The class president and I are just old friends. The only reason I didn't tell Xander was because I didn't want him to get jealous. You know how he #is-he'd get jealous over nothing. And by the way, you'd better not say anything to him."

"So, you want me to keep it a secret? Does that mean you have something going on with the class president?" Samuel teased.

Isabel shot him a look, clearly frustrated.

Xander and Samuel are truly brothers-they both have an annoying habit of jumping to conclusions.

"I'm telling you, there's nothing going on between me and the class president. If you tell Xander and he makes a big deal out of it, that's on you." Samuel was left speechless.

He stared at her blankly, realizing she had succeeded in shifting the blame to him.

The next evening, Isabel quickly applied some makeup and left the house.

By the time Xander returned, she was already gone.

"Where is she?" he asked.

Samuel gave a quick glance toward Isabel's room, curling his lips in irritation.

"She went to a high school reunion," Samuel said flatly

"Well, it's because Samuel began, but then he remembered Isabel's warning from the day before. she had said that if anything went wrong and led to faily drama, he would be the one to blame.

"What?" Xander asked, raising an eyebrow at Samuel, dearly confused.

"Oh, nothing." Samuel replied quickly, remembering excuse. "I just remembered I have plans to play a gane with someone. I'll head upstairs." Nander watched him with narrowed eyes as he processed what Samuel had just said.

"You know something?" Xander asked, his voice sharp.

Samuel froze. He hadn't expected Xander to catch on so fast.

This is all Isabel's fault. She didn't have to hide the reunion from Xander, but she chose to, and now I'm the one who has to cover for her. Samuel sighed and rubbed the back of his neck.

"Yesterday, I overheard her talking about it on the phone."

"Then why didn't you tell me?" Xander asked.

Samuel scratched his neck again, debating whether to keep up the lie.

"Samuel." Xander said his name slowly, almost like a warning.

Samuel realized his brother wasn't going to let it slide, and he knew it was time to tell the truth.

Samuel didn't hesitate any longer and shared everything he had overheard with Xander.

"Hello?" Xander's voice came through as soon as he dialed Isabel's number.

Isabel had just reached the restaurant for the reunion when Xander's call came through.

As soon as she saw his name on the screen, Isabel immediately realized he must have found out about the gathering.

She didn't really need to keep it from him, but Xander had a tendency to become overly protective. When he got jealous, it was like nothing else mattered. Each time, it felt like he was smothering her with his intensity. Especially after that rainy night... he took advantage, and she ended up carrying three little surprises inside her.

"You've gone to a reunion?" Xander asked as soon as she picked up.

"Yeah, it's a rare chance to catch up with my high school friends. Yvette came with me, too," Isabel said, mentioning Yvette intentionally to put his mind at ease. "Have fun," Xander replied shortly.

Samuel couldn't help but grin. I knew it-he cares too much about Isabel. After I mentioned the class president earlier, there's no way that detail would just slip by unnoticed.
