Chapter 215 Kaleb Is Utterly Disappointed in Eva

"Argh... mm-hmm!"

Eva immediately broke into a sweat, her face turning bright red and purple from the pain.

"Eva!" Laurel hurriedly rushed to support her and pushed Isabel away.

"Are you okay? Eva?" Laurel looked at Eva, whose expression was filled with intense pain, and her wrinkled old face showed how heartbroken she was.

"It hurts, it hurts, Mom, my stomach hurts... " Eva said in broken gasps.

Laurel's eyes filled with fury as she glared at Isabel. "You wicked girl! What did you do to Eva?!" Laurel's voice trembled with anger. "If anything happens to her, I swear I'll make you pay!"

Isabel narrowed her eyes, coldly staring at Eva's stomach. She hadn't done anything drastic-just paid back in kind, eye for eye.

Eva had nearly caused Yvette to miscarry, so Isabel's revenge was to make sure Eva would never be able to bear children.

A person this cruel didn't deserve to be a mother. Even if she were to become one, it was likely the child would turn out just like Eva.

To avoid poisoning the future child who might be born to Eva, Isabel considered this an act of indirect kindness.

"Eva, don't worry, I'll take you to the hospital right away," Laurel said, her anger toward Isabel was forgotten as she focused on Eva's serious condition.

Just as Laurel had rushed Eva to the hospital, Kaleb arrived.

"Kaleb, you're finally here! Eva was just sent to the emergency room, and we don't even know what's going on with her. If anything happens to her, I'll call the police and have her arrested on the spot!" Laurel said, her voice full of fury. "How did it get this bad?" Kaleb's brow furrowed in confusion.

"It's Isabel. She's getting more ruthless by the day. I'm starting to think she's driven by hate, maybe even losing her mind. To attack Eva on the street like that. Does she really not care if someone ends up dead?" Laurel fumed. Just as she finished speaking, the emergency room door opened.

So soon?

Weren't they just taking her in?

Could something have gone wrong? Is it too late for treatment, and now...

Laurel and Kaleb were both gripped by a sudden, unsettling thought.

But then, to their surprise, Eva walked out of the emergency room, looking completely fine.

It was the last thing they'd anticipated.

"Eva, you ... you're okay?" Laurel asked, her gaze sweeping over Eva from head to toe. Kaleb also stared at her, bewildered.

Before Eva could figure out what to say, the doctor spoke up.

"She's perfectly fine. Don't come running to the hospital pretending to be sick when there's nothing wrong with you. It's ridiculous. And then you try to bribe me into saying you're ill? What do you think I am?" the doctor snapped, his face tight with displeasure as he stormed off.

Silence.

It was so quiet, you could hear a pin drop.

Laurel and Kaleb stared at Eva with such bewildered expressions that she couldn't bring herself to look up.

After being rushed to the emergency room, the pain in her lower abdomen suddenly disappeared.

She was confused. Just moments before, the pain had been excruciating, so how had it completely disappeared as soon as she entered the room?

Kaleb and Laurel were still waiting outside, and she couldn't just walk out and tell them that the pain had suddenly stopped.

If she did, they'd probably think she was faking it, trying to frame Isabel.

The problem was, the pain on the way here had been so intense she thought she might die from it.

Who knew why it suddenly stopped?

Since she was already here, she figured she might as well let things play out naturally. She could bribe the attending doctor to say her condition was serious, which would make Kaleb and Laurel hate Isabel even more.

But the attending doctor was uncooperative. Not only did he refuse, but he also scolded her, calling her morally corrupt and accusing her of wasting his time when he could be treating others.

"Eva, you..." Laurel started, but then trailed off, unsure of what to say.

Eva bit her lower lip, anxiety causing sweat to bead on her forehead.

The doctor had made things so clear, and now she had no way of coming up with a believable excuse.

What should she do? What now?

Kaleb took a deep breath and turned to leave.

Seeing this, Eva immediately panicked.

"Kal!" Eva rushed to catch up, grabbing Kaleb's arm tightly.

Kaleb turned and looked at her with a piercing gaze, making Eva even more panicked.

After a brief, tense moment, Kaleb ruthlessly pulled his arm away from her hand and strode off.

Eva stood there, watching Kaleb's retreating figure, her eyes welling up with tears.

It was all Isabel's fault!

If it hadn't been for Isabel, how could she have made such a fool of herself?

"Eva, you're not really faking it, are you?" Laurel asked, walking over.

As soon as the words left Laurel's mouth, she saw Eva turn toward her, tears streaming down her face.

"I-I didn't ... Mom, please, believe me, okay? My stomach really hurt. I don't know why, but as soon as I entered the emergency room, the pain stopped Mom, please believe me. Kaleb doesn't believe me. If you don't believe me too, I'll have no choice but to kill myself to prove my innocence!" Eva cried, sobbing uncontrollably.

She looked so devastated, it seemed as though she was bearing an unbearable burden.

Eva's cries grew louder, her sobs breaking through her words.

Seeing Eva like this, Laurel started to believe she wasn't lying.

"Good girl, I believe you. But the attending doctor ... He said you want to bribe him?"

Eva honestly nodded, her voice breaking as she spoke. "I was really panicked at the time. I wasn't faking the pain. was afraid that if I came out just like that, you'd think I was trying to frame Isabel. So ... so i did that. Now, looking back, I regret it so much. I don't even know why I did it. I was wrong, Mom, I'm so sorry...

Eva threw herself into Laurel's arms, sobbing uncontrollably, looking heartbroken.

"Ah... "Laurel sighed deeply, gently patting Eva's back.

"Good girl, don't cry anymore. I understand. You care so much about how Kaleb and I feel, and that's why you acted impulsively. I understand." Hearing Laurel's words, Eva let out a small sigh of relief.

"But... what about Kal?"

"Don't worry, I'll talk to Kaleb later."

"Thank you, Mom... You're so good to me," Eva said in a sweet tone.

Laurel smiled fondly. "Oh, you silly girl. Don't be so formal with me. If you treat me like your real mom, of course, I treat you like my real

daughter." Laurel was incredibly net

pleased with Eva as a

daughter-in-law; she was a thousand, no, a million times better than Isabel.

Isabel had just walked into the pharmacy to pick up some pregnancy supplements when she got a call from Merle.

"Boss, everything at the hospital is taken care of. Eva won't be able to get out of this."

"Great. I appreciate your effort."

"Boss, don't treat me like a stranger."

"Alright, I won't say that again. I've got something to handle, so I'll hang up now."

Yvette was still waiting outside. Isabel had lied, saying she needed to buy eye drops, and if she took too long, Yvette might come in and expose her.

After grabbing folic acid, prenatal milk powder, and other pregnancy supplements, Isabel walked up to the counter. Just as she was about to pay, she suddenly heard Yvette's voice behind her.
