Alpha Luke and His Unwilling Mate -
Chapter 25
~Third Person’s POV~
It was a late spring night, but there was an unusual chill in the air already. Beta Ryder drove around in circles looking for a parking spot near his mistress’s beachfront property. He checked his watch and let out an exasperated sigh. His phone screen lit up, showing a notification from Maria.
Rolling through a stop sign, he took a quick peek to see if she had sent him any more sexy pictures of her. Candles and bubble bath. His lips curled up in a smile, thinking about the glorious night that lay ahead.
After parking his fancy Hellcat a few blocks away from Maria’s place, he pranced on the deserted street under the moonlight, humming a cheery tune. A sudden gust of wind had him stop dead in his tracks. He turned back to face the beach.
It was almost midnight, and there wasn’t a single creature outdoors for miles. At least that’s what he thought when he had stepped out of his car a few minutes back. Then why did he hear a woman’s voice? It seemed to come from the ocean, a clear and seductive voice.
‘I’m the Beta of the strongest pack on this continent. Almost everyone shudders at the mention of my name. Why the hell am I spooking myself out? Hearing voices!’ He shook his head and smirked when his phone buzzed again, quickening the pace to his destination.
“Ryder…” He heard it again, a sweet whisper this time. He turned around in a trance.
“F**k!”
Not too far from where he was standing, he saw a silhouette perched on a rock, with long flowing hair, a slender waist, and a tail! A mermaid?
Ryder closed his eyes in disbelief and opened them in a couple of beats. The creature disappeared as he had expected. Just a figment of his imagination. After all, he was sleep-deprived and s*x-deprived, losing his mind. Being a werewolf, he should be able to sniff out anyone before seeing them. All he could smell was saltwater in the humid air.
“Ryder!” He almost peed his pants when he felt a hand on his shoulder and a woman said his name.
His claws were out, and he was halfway through shifting when he saw who it was.
“What the f**k do you think you are doing here at this time?” He yelled at her and straightened his shirt.
“I couldn’t sleep. I thought of taking a walk but got lost,” she replied.
“Are you kidding me? The packhouse is over three miles from here. You were trying to escape, weren’t you?” He advanced toward her in large, intimidating strides as she backed away. “I have been just waiting for an opportunity for the Alpha to get over you. Looks like I can f**k you and strangle you since you are out on your own.”
“Would you like to take a walk with me?”
“Didn’t hear me? Who do you think you are? F*****g captive slave! You have five seconds. If you don’t run back to the pack, I’m going to rip your throat out. I promise.”
“Please, it will only take a minute,” she said, looking into his eyes intently.
“What’s that?” He asked in puzzlement.
“What’s what?”
“That song. Such an enchanting melody. It’s getting louder now,” he said, unable to break eye contact with her.
“Must be the folks at the resort down there. Your sense of hearing is so strong.” Her voice had a tinge of sarcasm, which he failed to notice.
“Did you always smell like saltwater?” He asked, following her toward the ocean as she walked backward without breaking eye contact.
She ran her hand over his cheek in light strokes. “You know I’m a human. I know nothing about these werewolf scents.”
“A beautiful human.” He placed his hand over hers and moved it to his lips. He dropped it suddenly when he remembered something. “You know the Alpha would never be okay with this. He’ll kill the two of us the minute he finds out—“
“Don’t worry about him. As you said, he’s charmed already.” She placed her hands on his shoulders and stood on her tiptoes to whisper into his ears. “He won’t know unless you tell him.”
Seafoam and strong waves lapped at his knees while he was lost in her eyes, which were now glowing golden, just like the pendant she was wearing.
“Of course not. Never. I thought you were beautiful from the moment I saw you. But I like my women under me, tied and screaming, not defying my orders.”
“I’ll please you the way you want.”
His phone buzzed again. He took it out of his pocket and left it on a wave that crashed against his waist.
“I thought I was a metalhead, but I got a new favorite tonight. I’m in love with this sweet lullaby.”
“Oh, I’m sure,” she said, as her hair slowly transformed into golden color.
A huge wave crashed into his face, and his grip on her wrist tightened suddenly.
“Relax. I’m with you.” She stroked his palm with both her hands as another wave swept them off their feet.
Ryder was struggling to keep his head above the water while she held him firmly to stop him from floating back to the shore with the next enormous wave. His eyes widened in horror when he saw a strong muscular tail in dark shades of purple and blue float to the surface.
“You are a f*****g siren?!” Those were his last words before she placed her hand on the back of his head and pushed him under the water.
He tried to grab onto her but struggled to keep up with the water current and her strong arms which were pulling him farther and deeper into the darkness. She went under the water and squeezed his jaw.
“Tell me now, Ryder. How fun was it to kill Vance? You and that f*****g chosen mate of Luke chased my pregnant sister-in-law and Riley. Riley’s baby was due a week after mine. You both killed those innocent women.”
Ryder struggled harder as he couldn’t breathe anymore. He caught the tips of her hair and pulled them as hard as he could. She grabbed him by the throat and squeezed it until he let her hair go.
“You can struggle as long as you want. I won’t give you a quick death.”
She pulled him onto the surface and dipped him back in. Reaching out for his hair, she tilted his head to the side and punctured his neck with her sharp canines before letting him go.
She watched his body disappear down to the ocean floor but froze when the glowing pendant went down with him. Swimming below to the b***d-tainted waters, she tried to free it from his tight fist when he smiled at her and threw it away from her sight.
Swimming in the direction the pendant went, she watched Ryder shoot up to the surface. Not wanting to repeat the mistake she made with Adalyn, she followed him from behind as he swam aggressively towards the shore.
“Bitch, I’m the Beta of the strongest pack on this continent. You can’t take me down so easily.” His healing powers were next to the Alpha’s, and the bleeding from his neck had reduced a lot.
He swam against the current and took several deep breaths before he felt someone’s arms wrap around his shoulders from behind.
“I know you are very strong. You lived forty-five days more than you should have. Why do you think I waited this long? I’m stronger today, stronger than your Alpha!”
She snapped his neck in one swift move and dragged him by his hair towards the tiger sharks to feed on.
She dived deeper and swam north, on to her next target.
