Alpha Queen
Chapter 51

Liviana’s POV

I stared at my reflection in the water.

How did I end up here?

I’m already confused as it is.

Now, I’m struggling even more.

Blake is in love with me.

How am I supposed to react to that?

I’ve always seen him as my guy best friend.

Or someone like family.

And I thought he felt the same way.

Or was I just too densed to notice?

I sighed.

“Liviana”

I turned to look at who called me and saw the moon goddess approaching me. I quickly lowered my head in respect.

“Moon Goddess” I said. She stopped in front of me and held my chin to meet her eyes.

She smiled.

“How are you, my child?” she asked. I gave her a forced smile.

“You seem to be thinking about a lot of things today” she said. I chuckled a bit.

“I always think about a lot of things, goddess” I told her and she chuckled at my statement.

“Tell me, child. I’m here to listen” she told me.

We sat down while looking at the waterfall.

“I’m confused, goddess” I said as I kept my eyes on the falls.

“Why is that?” she asked.

I can’t believe I’m having this conversation with the moon goddess.

For sure she already knows what had happened since she is after all a goddess who watches over all wolves.

But I know she wants me to be able to open up.

“I’m in a complicated situation wherein I’m stuck between the person who I’ve been with most of my life and the person who I’m meant to be with” I said.

“I see” the moon goddess said.

“You say you’re confused?” she said. I nodded.

“What confuses you?” she asked and for a moment, my mind went blank.

What confuses me?

Is it the fact that Blake wants me to choose between him and my mate?

But in the first place, why should I have to make such a choice?

Maybe I’m confused about how I feel?

But I only feel a platonic attraction towards Blake. I’m sure about that.

And as for Luan…

I like him but I still believe it’s because of the mate bond.

Or is it?

Now, I’m really really confused.

“Are you sure that you’re just confused or are you actually scared, Liviana?” she asked and our eyes met.

“Scared?” I said confused.

Why would I feel scared?

“Scared that you have to choose between two people who you both treasure deeply. People who you don’t want to lose” she said.

And it made sense.

I’ve been with Blake for so long. Yes, I don’t love him the way he wants me to but I wouldn’t want to lose him.

I did everything I could to protect them from my world before and kept it all a secret in fear that they will either be in danger because of me or cut off our friendship.

Losing him now after everything is something that scares me to the core.

And then there’s Luan.

I met him as soon as I had turned 18. I didn’t want to be with him because I feared that I’ll have to leave my pack behind.

That’s why I’m only starting to open up to him just now.

And now that I’m finally able to do it and see a different side to him, I know I’m starting to feel something that I promised I wouldn’t let myself feel towards a male.

Deep inside, although I always pushed him away, I didn’t want to lose him. I wanted him to stay with me. Be with me even.

I was fearless in combat.

But simple things like these terrifies me.

“You shouldn’t have to make a choice like this one, my child. You should realize that” the moon goddess said.

“What am I supposed to do, goddess?” I asked desperate.

“Give yourself some more time to think about it. Then maybe talk to your friend. Whatever happens, accept it. But remember that real friends should not put you in a situation where you have to choose between them or what’s meant for you” the moon goddess said.

I bit my lower l*p and nodded.

“I’ll leave now to give you some time for yourself. Although I don’t know how long you can stay here” she said.

“Is it not okay for me to stay here?” I asked politely. She shook her head.

“Your uncle Dante has been reaching out to me and asking me where you are” she said with a chuckle.

Oh ghad.

“I’m sorry about that, goddess. My uncle is a bit… troublesome” I said.

“He is indeed very troublesome. But do not worry, I won’t tell him where you are. This is your safe place. Stay as long as you want, my child” she said then she planted a k**s on the top of my head then disappeared into thin air.

I kept staring at the waterfall.

This place feels so serene.

I laid back and closed my eyes as I listened to my surroundings.

Then I found myself in the forest.

I saw my mom and she turned to look at me.

“Mom!” I said as I ran and hugged her. She caught me in her arms.

“My sweet Liviana. I missed you” she said and gave me a k**s.

“I missed you too” I muttered as I hugged her.

My mom cupped my face and looked at me with a smile on her face.

“My precious baby” she cooed. I chuckled.

“Mom, I’m no longer a baby” I said making her pout.

“Of course, you are. You will always be to me” she said as she lightly pinched my cheeks making me giggle.

“Come on. Let’s go to your favorite spot and just unwind” she said and we walked side by side while holding hands.

I’m sure that she too already knew what I was going through.

I know she wanted to talk about it but chooses not to knowing that it will only trouble me more.

We reached the meadow filled with flowers and there was a blanket in the middle so we sat there.

My mom sat down while she made me lay my head down on her lap.

“Mom” I said.

“Yes, sweetie?” she asked.

“It’s been a while since we met and I was able to get to know a lot about you. I enjoyed all the stories about your life when you were in Halo but can you tell me the story of when you and dad met?” I asked carefully. She smiled but I saw a hint of sadness there.

“As you already know, we met when I ran away from home and ended up in the Lunar territory where his guards found me” she started.

“As soon as I saw your father, something clicked between us and I’ll be honest with you, Liviana. I was terrified that he was my mate. He was the King of Lunar after all and I was…one, an outsider. And two, the daughter of the enemy territory” she continued.

“But your father protected me with everything he had. He stayed by my side and was willing to give up anything and everything just to be with me. He was the perfect mate” she said as her eyes sparkled lovingly.

“In fact, your mate reminds me a lot of your father, Liviana. I can see how much effort he does in trying to pursue you from the very start. He’s very protective of you and would do anything and everything to keep you safe from harm. Maybe that’s why I like him for you” she stated.

“But since you are an independent she-wolf unlike your mother, your mate finds it hard to do just that” she chuckled. I blushed embarrassed.

Yes, I have always tried not to seek help from others.

I was either independent or I just had a big ego.

“Now that I think about it, that’s probably the trait that you got from your father” she said.

“Overall, your father is a wonderful man, Liviana. When the right time comes and you are both able to meet, I know for sure that you both will get along well” she said with a smile.

I smiled too.

And for a few more moments, I stayed there with my mom.

I knew I had to go back later to fulfill my duties as Alpha, but for now, I just need a peace of mind.

I need to pull myself together.

And that’s just what I’m about to do.
