Chapter 25

COLLIN

“We don’t have the f*****g time for this.” Rens voice is annoyed, and I am trying to keep my temper down. I don’t want another fight to break out. The way Krisna has been passed out since then worries me.

She managed to put all the Alphas down when she shouted that command to Renwick. Now most of them are outside waiting to see her. Some will try to ask her to be their mate and we also don’t have the time to fend them off.

Thorin has been trying to make most of them leave. Most have begrudgingly left while others refuse to leave. My father has been talking to the packs that are leaving and then making the rest of the Alphas leave the hut.

“Renwick, you saw what happened to her.” I try again to talk some sense into him.

“Shut up, I wasn’t talking to you.” Again the pissing contest and I have to swallow the anger. He keeps trying to pretend to be the only Alpha right now because he feels threatened by Krisna and he feels like he will lose the others to her.

“I know you weren’t but we need to allow her to rest and we cannot leave her here either.” I watch while he processes this information before he opens his mouth again.

“I can go on ahead without you and most definitely without her.” I shake my head and look at Kale, I am done trying to make him see reason.

“Renwick, we are not leaving her.” Kale says so definitely that even Renwick stops pacing to look at him.

“Do you not want to get Juniper? Do you not care to accomplish everything we have talked about for the last eight years?” Ren eyes him.

Sighing heavily and tugging on the back of his hair, Kale looks to where Krisna is still passed out then back to Ren. When he speaks, his voice is softer and the bite is gone out of his tone. “Things have changed Ren. You know it and I know it.”

“Not for me, or for Thorin.” He throws his hand towards where Thorin is now walking back to us. “I am not going to stop because you suddenly feel something for someone we tried to kill.” He spats, his face scrunched up.

“That was a low blow, Renwick.” Kale turns and faces Krisna. “We never did apologize to her, we really should. If nothing else, we should do that.”

The silence is deafening and the more we stand there, the more awkward it gets. Thorin finally manages to come back into the hut and he fills that silence.

“Most of them are gone. The Alpha of this land will need to be the one to get rid of the rest. I say the three of us can start getting prepared and Collin can stay here with her until she wakes up. When she does, let us know and we will go and handle the Alphas.”

“I will when she is ready. I am not forcing her to do anything right away.” I make sure he sees it in my eyes. I will not be forcing my mate to move until she is ready. We don’t know what happened to her and until we do, we need to be more careful.

Smiling at me with the look of tiredness in his eyes, he nods starting to walk back out of the hut, followed by Kale and Ren. “Okay, Beta, make sure you take care of her.”

“Always.” I watch as they leave and move back to Krisna. When she passed out, I was scared. All these years with her and I never seen her do that. She is a strong woman and a strong wolf. She always shows her true self through her actions. I should have known I loved her since the moment I laid eyes on her.

I buried it because my older brother was in love and he didn’t hide it. I did not want to interfere with them and kept my mouth shut, trying to love her like I would a relative, and that never fully happened.

When I found out she was my mate, I was incredibly happy, but now seeing her fall and not knowing what happened, I am experiencing another feeling, one that I did not quite ever feel before and that is fear. Fear of what happened and scared of what it could be.

I lean closer to her and reach my hand out, lightly touching her hair. Loving the feeling of her hair in my hand. I can’t wait until the day that she is my mate fully. I know that in reality, if we wanted, we could stay here in these lands.

My father wouldn’t mind moving to the other pack huts and house. He respects Krisna so much and that would be an honor for him to give up his spot as highest ranking Alpha, and the first female one in decades.

Krisna, however, will want to leave. She would never want to take my father’s spot. She loves him like a father and she will tell us to find another area to be in. I think it will be exhilarating to find another place to start creating our own land of wolves.

I sit there for a moment and try to think of a plan to get out Ruse and Juniper and even Alore. I don’t know the area, so Krisna will be a huge part of planning. I think that if it was left up to Renwick, we would go in blinded and only end up killed or captured. His mind is messing with him because he is refusing to give in to the bond that the moon goddess has blessed him with.

“Collin, where is everyone?” Krisna’s sleepy voice reaches my ears and I look into her brown eyes, relieved that she looks good and the color is back in her skin.

“They went ahead to start gathering whatever and calming the Alpha’s. I told them when you woke up I would get them and we can start heading there. Renwick is not going to wait to long.” I go to stand when she places a hand on my knee.

“Not yet, just give me some time with you.” The look in her eyes, makes my veins feel like fire. I see the need and the l**t in her eyes and the only thing that I can do is shake my head yes. I watch her sit up and lean closer to me.

“Please come to bed with me.” She whispers.

Iwoke up with a feeling of need. The first person I saw was Collin. He was lost in thought and hadn’t known that I woke up. Being bold, I tell him I want some time with him and, to my delight, he tells me I would never have to ask.

Feeling frustrated and angry, I turn and snap at Renwick. “I’m honestly tired of your shit, Ren. I am going to save them and it won’t be with you.”

He storms over and I feel the Alpha command trying to bounce off me. “I don’t need you at all, Krisna.” His breathing is labored, and I can see the anger growing in his eyes.

“Good, then go ahead Ren, see how far you get without me. You are not my mate. I reject you.” The words are out before I even have a chance to take them back or think about what I am saying.

The pain hits me and at the same time I start to fall to my knees; I hear Ren shout in pain. The world spins and my heart feels like it is cracking. I look up and see the tears in his eyes as he holds his chest.

I rejected him and now we are going to feel like there is something hollow in our hearts. It is rare that a mate bond can be salvaged, but it has happened. I stand before him and look at the rest of the guys, who look on in shock.

“I am going to the Alpha’s home and then I am leaving.” Without another word, I turn and head out the door without a backward glance.
