Alpha’s Black Furred Slave Mate -
Chapter 103
I wanted to write this letter because you have something that belonged to me a long time ago. I have lost everything, and I continue to lose so much even as I write this. I don't know how much more time I have before they find me. But if nothing else, I want you to at least know the truth about Deonna. I know you adopted her in an orphanage up North. I know this because I was the one who put her there, and you might be wondering who I am and why I would give up such a beautiful child, placing her in a location as cruel as that orphanage. It's because where I come from, I couldn't take her with me. It's not that I didn't want to, it's that I couldn't. if she were to be found out, I would be put to death. But I made some miscalculations, and it seems I will be put to death anyway. Her existence is known, and I only have myself to blame.
I'm sorry for writing this in a letter and I'm sorry you adopted her without knowing the truth about her. She will grow to always have a target on her back as long as this family is alive. She will never be safe. They will stop at nothing to make sure that everything she knows and loves vanishes; they want her dead, but they want it to be slow and painful. Life will never be in her favor, and you can't protect her forever.
I'm sorry that I'm rambling on in this letter; it isn't fair to you to not know the extent of it. My name is Elianna; I am the duchess of North-Valley and the wife of the duke. I am also Deonna's birth mother. I had an affair with one of our slaves and we had a child together. For a while, I thought maybe I could get away with pretending she was my husband. I thought maybe he wouldn't know; if she came out light furred, then it would all be okay, and I wouldn't have to worry about her safety. I know sometimes it'll happen, where a dark-furred and a light-furred will conceive and have a child that is practically light-furred.
I thought maybe I could be as lucky as that. But the slave, Robert, also the love of my life, was so dark to a point where his fur was black as night. As I grew larger, I got more nervous. If my husband and family had seen this child and seen how dark she was, everything would be over. My life and Deonna's life would end.
Robert has been saying that he's wanting to run away with me and our child. He's been wanting to escape these walls we both call a prison. But I couldn't just abandon my family, not my husband and my son, Frederick. I loved my son and I never wanted to abandon him.
But I also loved my unborn baby girl as well and I didn't want anything terrible to happen to her. I thought maybe I could have both worlds. But I knew all hope was lost. As soon as my husband sees the dark-furred baby being born, he would kill us all without a second thought.
I only wanted what was best for everybody. As I went into labor, I knew I couldn't have gone into labor with my husband nearby. Frederick, as young as he was, was strong and fierce... helped me greatly.
...
He saw Elianna struggling greatly as she attempted to get out of bed. Her water had just broken and her body was feeling weak. The baby was coming, and she was terrified of what she was going to do. Part of her wanted to get her husband and her doctor, but she knew if they saw this child, they would put them all to death and she couldn't allow that to happen.
"Mother!" Frederick said as he ran into her room; she was practically hanging off her bed, trying to get to her door. Beads of sweat piled on her forehead and rolled down her narrow features.
Tears poured from her eyes as her legs shook and she struggled to stand.
"What is it?" He asked, his young and small eyes wide and alert.
She hated putting her young son in this position, but she needed to get out of here quickly.
"I need to get to the slave shack," Elianna breathed between painful points.
He frowned, staring at her for a long while, unsure if he heard her correctly.
"For what reason?" He asked in return.
"I have to go there, Frederick," she said between gritted teeth; trying to keep the pain at bay.
He didn't argue with her; he nodded and grabbed a hold of her harms. Helping her to stand to her feet.
"Please," Elianna said, as more tears rolled down her cheeks. "Don't say anything to your father."
He nodded slowly, still appearing unsure, but he said nothing more about the matter. He managed to help her down the long grand stairs of the castle; her husband was locked away in his study and unable to be bothered. Guards were given other tasks and were kept busy. The butler and a couple of maids were the only ones who saw them coming down the stairs and making their way toward the doorway.
"Madam?" The butler asked, staring at her worriedly.
"I'm fine," Elianna assured him. "Please act as if you've seen nothing."
He seemed unsure, but he nodded once as Elianna and Frederick left the castle. They made their way through the terrace and past the gardens. The slave shack was on the other end of the grounds; it was small and rundown. It was hardly kept because the dukes never cared for their slaves. They were only there to do gutter work until they died. They were given bare minimum food and water and were punished if they did wrong or did sloppy work.
Elianna always thought the conditions were unfair, but she would never tell her husband of such thoughts. It's been like this for generations and her husband wasn't about to change the way things were. This was another reason why she couldn't let him know of her dark-furred child that was about to be born.
She pushed open the slave shack and Robert stood to his feet; his eyes were large when he noticed Frederick helping Elianna inside.
"Eli!" Robert said, rushing over to them.
"Eli?" Frederick said, eyeing Robert carefully as he approached; he didn't understand why this slave was referring to the duchess as her nickname.
He stepped forward and reached his small arm out to try and shield Elianna from this slave; not sure what was going on. But Elianna placed a firm hand on his shoulder and pulled him back slightly. "It's alright," she told him. "Robert is a friend."
"A friend?" Frederick repeated, wide-eyed.
Having a slave for a friend was highly illegal, and he knew his father would never approve of such things.
"Lie her down over here," Robert said, grabbing Elianna's other arm.
They brought her over to a small hay pile where she lay out; she screamed out as her contractions grew stronger. Her body was quivering and for a majority of her labor, she didn't think she was going to make it. She had grown lightheaded and was about to pass out; another slave, an older woman, came over to help her with the childbirth. Frederick sat in the corner, watching the ordeal in awe and complete shock. He was still confused as to what was happening.
He didn't' realize what was happening until she gave birth; once the baby came through and he saw the darkness of his fur, he knew exactly what was happening.
Before the baby was born, Elianna had looked at Frederick and told him to leave.
"Go back to the castle," Elianna ordered.
"I want to stay with you," Frederick cried.
"Frederick, I need you to do me this favor and leave. Now," Elianna hissed as another contraction made her grimace in pain.
Frederick was hesitant to leave, but he did what she said. Or so she thought.
He ran outside the slave shack but stopped momentarily as he heard her screams. She was about to give birth. Something wasn't sitting right with him, and he needed to find out what it was. He was getting a bad feeling and he couldn't help but think that the slave, Robert, had something to do with it.
He peered back into the slave shack and watched as his mother gave birth to a dark-furred wolf. He gasped, shocked at what he was seeing. He could hardly contain his emotions; he didn't even care if they could see him or not. "Frederick..." Elianna warned as she stared at her frightened son.
The baby cooed happily in her arms and tears ran down Elianna's features, her body trembling. Robert stood beside her, also crying and staring at the child that was known to be his.
"Please don't...." Elianna begged.
But it was too late, Frederick was already running toward the castle. His father needed to know about this, and he was going to be the one to tell him.
In a fit of panic, Elianna attempted to get to her feet; her arms clutching her new daughter, Deonna, tightly in her arms.
"We need to get out of here," Elianna said, her body trembling nervously.
"You need to rest," Robert tried to get her to lie down.
"I can rest on the road. We need to get to the stables," Elianna sit, panicking in her tone.
"I'll get to the stables and bring the carriage here," Robert suggested.
"No!" Elianna said, worriedly. "You'll get caught."
"I'm not letting you go anywhere in this condition. You need to stay here... I'll be back," he said as he brushed his lips against hers. "I love you, Eli."
"I love you..." she said between tears as she watched him run out of the shack.
...
That was the last time I ever saw Robert. I heard gunshots and men yelling; I knew I couldn't let Deonna stay in these conditions. I asked the slave that helped me give birth to take Deonna as far away as she could. I asked her to take her and leave these grounds and find protection for her.
I set her free with my daughter.
My husband spared my life and said that no word will get out about this pregnancy. He said Robert had escaped and left me. I still don't believe that; Robert would have never done such a thing. But that's what he claimed.
Years later I got a letter from the slave, she told me where she had left Deonna and her adoptive parent's information. I was overly thrilled to receive such information and I knew I could finally reach out and find out for sure how my daughter was.
But my husband found the information I was hiding and was furious. He didn't want me to have anything to do with Deonna or Robert. He locked me up and hasn't been able to leave the prison. I'm no longer a wife, but a prisoner. He doesn't trust me to leave, and I fear for my life every day.
I never thought I would see the light of day again. Until I did.
I was able to escape from this prison with the help of a trusted guard. He snuck me back into the castle where I was able to recover the information on Deonna. I am hidden away; by now they have realized I am gone, and my husband knows I have this information. I write this to you in hopes that you receive it because I can't die without you knowing the truth about where Deonna comes from.
The castle has her information and knows of her location. It's only a matter of time before they come for her. Take this as a warning, keep our daughter safe. If you care for her, keep her safe, and don't let them take her away.
My days are numbered, but hers doesn't have to be.
Please make sure she knows that I've always loved her. Regardless of her fur color, I love her.
-Elianna.
