Alpha’s Black Furred Slave Mate -
Chapter 105
Marlon was taking cover; he remained in his wolf form, but he feared no good would come from that. the king's army decided to fight dirty and was using firearms. He managed to get a glimpse of Deonna and Kamala running toward the forest and it didn't seem as if anyone was following her. Alex's eyes never left her though he was growling as he too remained in his wolf form. He was obviously furious that she had gotten away but with one wrong move and he would have gotten shot so he couldn't go after her.
It pleased Marlon to watch Deonna escape and once she disappeared into the forest completely, he knew she was going to make it to the village and make it back to Mateo.
He refused to die here though; he wasn't going to let Deonna give birth to their second child without him. He couldn't bear the thought of her raising their children alone. She wouldn't have the proper resources needed to raise these children on her own. However, there was no doubt in his mind that she would manage just fine. But he wanted his children to be born and raised in the manor and take part in the estate.
He no longer cared about their fur color, he just cared about their well-being.
He cared about Deonna.
Marlon's men were fighting strong; some of which were using firearms of their own, but most of them were in their wolf forms. "Father!" Bob said, running toward him. "We need to take cover."
"I lost sight of Alex," Marlon said, scanning the surrounding area for his other son. "I need to make sure he's not going after Deonna." Bob looked around, worriedly as well. Marlon knew how much he cared for Kamala and also didn't want Alex going near her as well.
"The king ordered for more men," Bob informed him. "He's destined to make sure we die."
Marlon took in a steady breath; he wasn't going to die like this. He refused to die like this.
"We aren't going to win this on our own," Marlon said as he came to that realization.
They were going to need extra help, but they weren't sure from what source. Then a thought hit him.
"Kamala..." he breathed.
Bob narrowed his eyes at his father, afraid to ask what he was thinking.
"Kamala has some sort of power. She was strong enough to break the shield. Maybe she will be strong enough to end this battle," Marlon said, staring at his son. Bob shook his head rapidly.
"It almost killed her, father," Bob argued. "I would never ask her to..." he tried to say.
"You don't think she would help us if she could?" Marlon asked.
"She would," Bob agreed. "That's exactly the problem. She would do whatever it took to end this battle, even if it meant taking her own life. I would never ask her to do such a thing and I don't want her to do such a thing..."
"It might be the only option," Marlon nearly shouted; Marlon was no longer thinking rationally, and he was only thinking about himself and how to get out of this war. He wasn't thinking about what it could do to Kamala.
"Find another option," Bob hissed. "I'm not allowing Kamala to put herself into danger. Besides, we just let them leave. They are probably at the village by now."
"Then we need to link her and have her return," Marlon growled.
"No!!" Bob roared. "I won't allow it, father. Find another way. There has to be another option."
"We can't fight them like this. Kamala has a power like no other," Marlon tried to explain, reasoning with his son.
Marlon didn't want anything bad to happen to Kamala, but he knew it was the only way they could win this battle. The power that's inside of her, yes it almost killed her, but it also came from Nyx. The goddess wasn't going to let her die. This power was meant to be used for good and what better way than to use it to fight a battle that will end slavery once and for all.
"I can't lose her," Bob pleaded.
"This goddess won't let her die," Marlon assured his son.
"The goddess almost let her die the first time," Bob argued back.
"But she didn't," Marlon reminded him.
"Because I stopped it from happening. A little longer and her brain would have fried, and she'd be gone," Bob explained.
"The goddess would have detached the power from her and saved her. You have to have faith in our moon gods," Marlon argued. "We need her, son. It's why she was given this power in the first place. The reasoning wasn't to break me from the castle; it was to win this batter. With her powers, we can defeat the king's army and defeat Alex once and for all."
"It's just not fair," he said, lowering his tone as another round of gunshots made their way through the air. Bob ducked, not knowing where the shots were coming from.
"We don't have much time," Marlon said. "You need to link her and have her return."
"What about Deonna?" Bob asked, narrowing his eyes again.
"Deonna needs to stay at the village because she's pregnant," Marlon told him firmly; he wasn't chancing Deonna's life like this.
"It's not fair that we make my mate risk her life and your mate stays in safety," Bob said, deepening his frown.
"As I said, she's pregnant," Marlon hissed. "Plus, she doesn't have the kind of power that Kamala has.
"You know once I ask Kamala to come back, Deonna will insist on going with her," Bob said, raising his eyebrows.
"Well, you're going to tell her no," Marlon ordered.
"And if I don't?" Bob asked, testing him.
"Son, she's pregnant. You can't be serious?" Marlon said, eyeing his son carefully.
He sighed and rolled his eyes.
"Fine," he muttered. "I'll link Kamala and see if she can help us. But if it starts draining her again and almost kills her like it did the last time, I'm pulling her out and getting her to safety."
"That's fair," Marlon agreed. "But we have to at least try. In the meantime, we need to figure out where Alex is and what he's planning on doing."
Bob nodded as he backed further into the shadows to remain unseen.
"I don't want to do this," Bob murmured before he channeled Kamala.
"I know, but it might be the only way we can defeat the king's army. This is for the freedom of all slaves. Don't you want to marry her without being thrown into jail and murdered for it?" Marlon asked. Bob scoffed but then thought about it.
"I never thought I'd be the one to get married," he said, dreamfully. "If I were to marry anyone, I would want it to be Kamala."
"So, you know what we have to do then," Marlon urged.
Bob nodded; he knew Marlon was right. If he ever wanted the chance to marry his mate, they were all going to have to work together to make that happen. Which meant they were going to have to try to get Kamala to use her new powers.
