Kamala was dead.

He just watched Alex kill her in cold blood right in front of him. Bob could hardly keep his stance as the image of Kamala's small body was bent until she literally snapped in his hands. The pain she had revealed in her eyes as the snap took place was something he was going to see whenever he closed his eyes for the rest of his life.

What was she even doing here?

She was supposed to be leaving the kingdom with Deonna and Mateo. That was the plan the entire time; to get them out of the kingdom and to safety. It was Marlon's idea and Bob agreed to it. He never had a chance to speak to Kamala about her leaving, but he knew that Deonna would have it handled. He didn't think that Deonna would allow her to stay behind.

Unless she didn't allow for it.

Maybe Kamala took it upon herself to stay behind because she wanted to help fight.

No.

That didn't make any sense.

Kamala wasn't a fighter... was she?

Unless she stayed behind because of him.

No.

That also didn't make any sense. She could hardly stand being in the same room as him let alone stay behind in the danger zone because of him. She wouldn't put herself in danger for him.

So why the hell was she there?

It didn't matter anymore. As soon as she appeared, he let his guard down and Alex could smell the despair and weakness in his body. One look at his face and Alex knew that Kamala was the source of that weakness. One look at Kamala and he knew that she was most likely Deonna's weakness as well. He took that as an opportunity to get to both Deonna and Bob and he took it.

He killed Kamala because she was weak, and he wanted to prove that he was strong. He wanted to prove that he meant business and he needed to prove his worth.

He killed her without a second thought.

Bob wished that he could be surprised that his brother was capable of such heinous things, but he wasn't surprised at all. He was disgusted with his brother, and he hated his brother more now than he ever had in his entire life.

Bob stumbled backward as he watched Alex disappear with Kamala's body. Where was he even going to bring the body? It made no sense to leave with it. Bob would have thought that Alex would want to leave the body to keep the message present and fresh. He needed to find them. He needed to find Kamala and bring her home. That way they could at least have a proper burial for her.

His heart ached at the thought of having to bury Kamala's body. He had only known her for a short time, but she was beginning to mean something to him. His wolf, however, wasn't reacting the way he had thought his wolf would be reacting. He thought his wolf would react in agony over the fact that Kamala was no longer around. Lately, his wolf has been nearly impossible to keep up with; he's been aching for Kamala since the day she showed up.

But in this case, his wolf felt calm. There were no signs of panic, only stillness.

Which concerned him even more.

"Deonna?" Bob linked Deonna from the kitchen, only moments after Alex and Kamala disappeared.

His wolf voice sounded strained as he reached out to Deonna, he no longer cared about keeping his voice steady and strong. He felt weak and it was taking everything he had not to crumble to the ground in agony.

"Bob..." Deonna breathed. "I was just about to reach out. I just got to the village with Mateo. Kamala disappeared..."

She sounded worried; rightfully so.

"She's gone..." Bob breathed.

"What do you mean?" Deonna asked.

"Alex just snapped her neck right in front of me. She's dead," he breathed again.

He could hardly form proper sentences; he was still in shock over what had just happened.

There was a long pause on Deonna's end.

"No..." she whispered after a while, but then she paused again. "She's not dead."

"I watched her die..." Bob shot back; he didn't want to argue over what he had just seen. It was bad enough; he couldn't relive it.

"I know what you saw," Deonna said; she oddly enough sounded much calmer than he expected her to sound. "But I promise you, she's alive."

"I watched..." he tried to say again but his voice broke off.

"Bob. Trust me. She's not dead," she said again; her voice had a calming effect on him and he was able to breathe a bit easier. "I can feel her."

"You can what?" Bob asked; he was still trying to keep himself calm.

"I can feel her in my wolf. When you are connected to someone, you can feel them in your wolf. It's how I knew Mateo was alive when Alex took him. It's how I know Marlon is okay right now. It's how I know Kamala is alive," she explained. He shook his head; trying to wrap his head around her words. He's never had anyone whom he felt so connected with them that he could feel whether or not they were okay or not. He didn't even think that was possible.

She's been a slave for so long and her powers have been locked away for most of her life; how did she even know all of this?

"You thought she was dead the entire time after you left the farm," Bob said, trying to recall his memories.

"That's true, yes," Deonna stated. "But my wolf instincts were locked behind chains and cufflinks." That was true.

So maybe since her powers have been locked away for so long, she's now stronger than she ever was before.

"Bob, can I ask you something?" Deonna asked after another pause. He wasn't sure he wanted to answer any questions, so he didn't answer. "You felt a connection with her, didn't you?"

He hesitated before answering.

"Why does that matter?" Bob asked, aggravation in his voice. He didn't need someone else telling him that he needs to stay away from Kamala. Whether she was dead or alive, it wasn't their decision. "Because can your wolf feel her?" She asked, surprising him.

He was quiet for a moment; his wolf wasn't really saying anything and that was worrying him.

"I don't know," he finally answered.

"Do you feel calm when you think about her?" Deonna asked.

"Yes," he answered. "He hasn't really said anything."

"That means your wolf isn't worried. Neither should you," Deonna told him.

Never in his days did he ever think he would ever get wise advice from a dirtball. He sighed and nodded, knowing that she couldn't see him.

He wasn't sure what he saw, but he couldn't just sit there and wait for something to happen. Alex was planning something, Petra was involved, and now they not only had his father, but they also had Kamala too.

He shouldn't have sent away the guards and allowed Alex into the manor.

"I need to go after them," Bob announced to Deonna as he left the kitchen and walked towards the main doorway.

"I'm going to leave Mateo here and join you," Deonna told him.

Bob paused in his tracks.

"Like hell you are. Father would have my head if anything happened to you," Bob shot back.

"She's my pack, I need to find her. I can't sit here and wait. I need to go after her too. Mateo isn't safe and I need to make sure he's safe. I think it's best if he stayed behind for a while. Lived a normal life maybe..." she said sadly. "You're not serious," Bob said his voice running flat. "You're going to dump him off somewhere?"

"Not just dump him off," Deonna snapped. "I'm going to leave him with a family in the village. They can protect him for a while. I already know the family to leave him with. It'll only be until everything blows over and he's safe." "You think he'll be safe there?" Bob asked.

Deonna paused for a moment.

"I think he'll be safe anywhere that isn't near the kingdom," Deonna admitted.

Bob hated to admit it too, but she was right. The manor wasn't safe for anybody. Until Alex and Petra were defeated once and for all, nobody was safe.

"Okay," Bob finally said. He knew there was no use in arguing with her any further and, he could use an extra pair of hands. Even if she was a dark-furred wolf. "Meet me at the border's creek."

"Why there?" Deonna asked; remembering her last encounter at the creek, Mateo almost died. That was the same area that she also thought Petra had died in but turns out she didn't.

Bob knew that area to be important to Alex; at one point, it was important to him too. But Alex never seemed to grow out of his attachment to that area.

"Because I know my brother," Bob said slowly. "I know that's exactly where he's going to go."
