Chapter 59

Catalina's

POV

When he says his name is Zeus, panic pings inside me. My heart drops into my stomach. What is he doing here? Has he come to end the war before it begins? Fear and anger rise up in me. "Let me out!" Helia wants to burn him up. But now isn't the time.

"Lina he won't hurt you yet. You haven't come to full power." Kayla says.

"Now now child. We will have our battle in due time." Zeus says. He is tall and confident, he practically glows. He has long curly hair with a big bushy beard.

"What do you want?" I growl, I'm actually surprised I got any words out with my heart still in my stomach.

"Ah right to business. I like it. I wanted to come and offer you a deal." He says and he takes a step closer. I feel Andrew's anger as he takes a step towards Zeus. What does he think that he can take him? "What deal?" I ask

"I want to offer you a chance to save yourself little one. You could be so much more then just the Moon Goddesses child. I would let you live among us child. You will be safe. Join us and you won't have to die." He says. "You can't be serious?" I ask.

"I'm completely serious. It would be a waste for you to die with these creatures." He looks at Andrew with complete disgust. Why does he hate them so much? There's no way I would leave my people.

"My offer stands until the very end Catalina. I have a feeling you will see fit to join us. I can make you a God. Power you can't imagine. Don't waste your life for them. Think about it." He says.

"If you need me. Just call. I will be waiting." He adds. A loud crash and a flash of light and he's gone. A strong wind blows across the water and then it's still again.

"How could he think you would leave us?" Andrew asks.

"Because Gods are selfish and power hungry. So they think everyone else is too." I say. Andrew looks at me.

"We should head back. We have a lot of work to do." Andrew says. I nod and we start walking back.

"Lina. I know you are right, about Jet and Julie. It's easier for me to blame him than it is to blame her or myself." Andrew says.

"I'm really sorry. I can't imagine what you are going through." I say.

"Lina. Don't be afraid of the choice you have to make about her. Everyone will support you. You are the High Alpha. And you are my mate. If she had gotten you killed, well I don't know what I would have done." Andrew says as we make our way back into the pack house. I grab Andrew and wrap my arm around his waist.

"I am so lucky to have you as my mate." I say burying my face in his chest. He wraps his arms around me and squeezes.

"Oh no Lina I'm the lucky one. Hell I got the High Alpha. Everyone else's mate looks like a lemon." He chuckles to himself. I know he doesn't care about that. He claimed me when I looked like an omega. To think about my life a year ago and where I am now, it feels like another lifetime ago.

"Let's get some breakfast. I'm starving." I say and we head inside. We sit down and eat, I don't see Jet anywhere. Maybe he's avoiding us.

"We really need to talk to Jet." I say to Andrew.

"Let me. It's my fault. When we're done here you can go shower and change and I'll go find him." Andrew says and I nod in agreement. I'm glad he decided to do that and I didn't have to command him, if I can even do that to him.

"Can I command you?" I ask, I know my father was an Alpha but I felt like I was never told anything, I mean they didn't even tell me about going into heat.

"No, I'm your mate. But you can command other Alphas I believe. You can command anyone below you." Andrew says. Interesting. I've never been able to command anyone. We eat breakfast and when I'm done, Andrew goes to look for Jet while I go take a shower. Jets POV

After my confrontation with Andrew I needed to let off some steam. I know I just got done with training but I felt a new surge of energy. I don't know what Andrew's problem is. He's always wanting to fight me. I head to the gym. Does he think I don't blame myself already? Julie's actions have been eating away at me since it happened. If she had succeeded and Lina was killed, I don't know what I would have done. I get on the treadmill and just run. I try and clear my mind but all I can think about is Julie. I remember when we first met and how she ran and jumped into my arms. I was so happy I had finally found my mate. And she was strong and beautiful. We couldn't keep our hands off each other the first few days. But everytime I had to leave to train with Lina her reactions grew more erratic. When we went to visit her parents and they spoke about Lina I could feel her anger and knew something was wrong. But with everything going on I was distracted. She deserved better from me as her mate. Maybe this is why it took so long to find a mate, and I still wasn't ready for it. As my thoughts continue to spiral, Andrew walks in. Oh great another round. He walks over to me.

"Jet can we talk?" He asks. I turn off the machine and grab a towel. I keep my distance but face him.

"Jet I wanted to apologize. I shouldn't have attacked you like that. It won't happen again." He says.

I laugh. He's said this before, and look what happened. I start to walk out.

"What is your problem? I'm trying to apologize." He says. I'm so over this guy.

"You are my problem. You are always looking for a reason to fight with me. You fight with me about Lina and you fight with me now about Julie. Don't you think I'm dying inside because my mate is probably going to die because I didn't love her enough. Because I am a bad mate. You don't think I'm not completely blaming myself for her actions. Do you think this is easy for me? And my only real friend is the one she tried to kill. Now I'm going to have to reject her, because there is no way I could be with her after that. And you! You say we need to stop fighting and then this! So excuse me if I don't believe you. My world is falling apart around me, we're about to be in a fight for our lives, and you are worried about me hugging my friend. Fu*k you!" Im in Andrew's face as I say all of this. Im breathing heavy.

"Do you feel better?" He asks. Actually I did. "Yeah." I take a step back.

"Jet what Julie did isn't your fault. She made that choice her self. I think we are all trying to blame someone for what happened, and for me it was easy to blame you. But in reality she had to have had these feelings before you showed up." He says. He might be right, but I can't blame her, I just can't believe the Moon Goddess would give me this kind of mate.

"I can't imagine what you are going through. Jet I'm really sorry. Please accept my apology. I know you and Lina are friends and I took my frustration out on you which wasn't fair." He says. I guess I can understand. I don't say anything but I nod. "Good, Lina would kick my butt if we didn't work things out." He says.

"She sure could. She's gotten too fast and strong for me." I add. He laughs.

"That's probably why Zeus offered to make her a God." He says.

"WHAT?!" I ask. He tells me about seeing Zeus on the lake and the offer he gave to Lina.

"Why would he offer that? She would never take it, right?" I say.

"I couldn't see her taking it." He says.

"Jet I want you to know I'm glad you are her Beta. She trusts you, and I should too." Andrew says. I nod again at him. A wave of exhaustion hits me and I realize I have been training for hours with no food in me.

"I need to eat and shower. I've been training for hours without eating." I say.

"We good Jet?" He asks before I leave.

"We're good." I say back. I make my way back to the pack house. Breakfast was over and they were setting up for lunch. I got the attention of an omega I knew in the kitchen and she got me a sandwich. I ate and headed to my room. Catalina's POV

After my shower I got dressed and headed to the Alpha office. I was working on filing some paperwork away. After a while Andrew walks in.

"So how did it go?" I ask looking up at him.

"I think Jet was taking it a lot harder than I realized." Andrew says. I knew Jet was internalizing it a lot, he has been really quiet over the past few days.

"I think I have accepted your friendship with him. I'm sorry I'm a jealous Alpha." He says wrapping his arms around my waist. He leans down and kisses me. When he pulls back he glances around the room.

"It's looking better in here." He remarks.

"Yeah, we're leaving tomorrow so I wanted to get a lot done today." I say.

"You think we'll be ready by then?" He asks.

"I don't know. I just have this feeling we need to get back to the pack house. Jet will stay one extra day for the warriors and then bring them on his return. We need to make arrangements for them, and all the other warriors coming." I say.

"Well that addition to the warrior building should be completed by now, but that's not enough for everyone. We might need to move some people around." Andrew says. Andrew and I discuss a plan on space for all the packs. We clean up more of Red Stone pack. I can't explain this need to get back home, I just know I need to. Andrew and I work for hours. We take our dinner in the office.
