Chapter 85

Hades felt his knees become unsteady and his body trembled violently as his palm rested on Nebraska's belly. Invisible threads of power twined between his fingers making them sting. His face turned so pale that Nebraska thought he was going to faint. She wrapped her arms around him and held him fast. Seeing him collapse twice would be too much for her, she'd been through the scare before. The big wolf looked like jelly and his tremors were very noticeable. Hades' head fell heavily forward and hot tears stained his wife's small shoulder.

He wrapped his arms around her again and pressed her against him. He wanted to prove that it was true, that what was inside his she-wolf was true. That she wasn't dreaming. It was barely perceptible, but the power inside her had connected with him, filling him with a comforting warmth that drove away all his fears. It was as if the puppy forming was telling him that he would be fine and that it was waiting to see him.

He began to sob, trying to hold it against his wife but to no avail. Every effort was in vain. What would his pack think if they saw him in such a vulnerable moment? He didn't care, he was overwhelmed with happiness.

-Come on, silly wolf, don't cry anymore," Nebraska stroked his head gently comforting him. He was so big and to have him so fragile like this was something that shocked her, although she understood the reason. Hades had wanted puppies of his own for so long and now she was giving him that chance.

-I still can't believe it," Hades stopped sobbing but kept hugging her, breathing in her scent, feeling the warmth of her body.

-Believe it or Priscilla might get upset," this made him raise his head. There were still traces of tears on his handsome, handsome face. She wiped them away with her thumb, keeping her gaze full of tenderness.

-Priscilla?" he looked impressed, "You already named her and she didn't even tell me," he grimaced in mock indignation.

Nebraska smiled slightly, taking his cheeks in her hands and lowering them to leave a subtle but sincere kiss on his lips.

-First, I didn't tell you before because you were too preoccupied with the war, you didn't want another burden on you, it was enough that I had already made you carry it for me.

Hades kissed her hard and fused their foreheads together, joining their hands at the bottom of her hips.

-Nothing of yours would be a burden to me. If I can hold him then leave him on my shoulders. You are my she-wolf, you are my wife, you are my everything and I will take your life as my own, with all that that entails.

His words filled her completely and this time it was her eyes that filled with tears. Hades was the best thing that had ever happened to her, after her puppies. His very presence made her chest ache and her heart pound. She didn't know when the feeling had become so intense, perhaps when she had almost died and felt the pain of loneliness. That was irrelevant. What was important was that now he could only imagine the rest of his life with his huge new family.

-Second, she was the one who told me his name. She was the one who helped me destroy Liam, without her it might have been impossible," Hades' expression of disbelief this time was sincere, "I'll explain it in more detail later, I'll just tell you that she's very strong, possibly stronger than Layan," he said.

-Who said my name?

The wolf's footsteps echoed as he entered the room. The couple let go to see him coming.

-You look like shit," Hades sneered.

The wolf's long red hair was faded and lacking its natural lustre. Like his counterpart he had dark circles under his eyes and looked tired, yet he didn't lose a hint of magnificence and his humour didn't fade.

-You're no slouch yourself," Layan replied, shaking his head up and down. Nebraska snorted, there you go again. "Well, I'm curious to know why my name came up between you two when you were so disgustingly romantic," he said.

-You're dying of jealousy," Hades challenged him, his mood now in a good state too.

Nebraska patted his arm and growled at him to stop provoking him. He thought that after they had worked together they would get along a little better but apparently they wouldn't. There was still a lot of acrimony between them. There was still a lot of acrimony between them and more would be created.

-Layan, I was just telling him that the puppy inside of me is probably stronger than you.

Layan blinked and shifted his weight from one foot to the other, raising his hands.

-Wait, wait, wait, what did you say?

-That I'm going to be a father," Hades couldn't help but hide the smile that spread across his lips.

Layan's eyes widened and he looked from alpha to omega in surprise.

-But what did I miss? When was that? You must be crazy, this is totally insane," he said very quickly and Nebraska had to put a hand on his shoulder to calm him down. She knew she was a part of Layan's life but she already had someone to fill every space in her being.

-Let's talk like civilized wolves," she said in a soft voice, "But saying that it was as if an overwhelming presence was moving quickly through Nebraska's arms and into Layan's body. She knew what was coming so the scene that unfolded next did not shock her. Her daughter had been very precise with what she wanted.

Layan's face was stiff, her orbs fixed blankly. It still didn't sink in that she was in a state but seconds later it was as if everything around him was lost and only he was left in a haze as something had entered his mind with such force that he couldn't put up any resistance. A warm sensation enveloped his lips as arms wrapped around his neck possessively without giving him time to react.

-You're mine," a voice echoed in his head.

The alpha quickly broke the connection by pulling away from Nebraska and taking two steps back, shaking his head. Nebraska had expected it. He had heard how Priscilla called out to him, how she had slipped inside him, she was strong and the omega knew it. -What happened Layan? You look shocked." Hades stood beside his wife with a frown on his face.

-What she's got in there," he said, pointing to his belly, "She's claiming me," he swallowed dryly, still processing what had happened. The connection had been so strong that his body was tingling strongly. It was as if the presence of that puppy was enveloping him, asking him to give himself completely and he wouldn't, he couldn't, simply because he was a son of Nebraska.

-What did you say," Hades growled and the omega knew there was going to be an argument, "Don't even think about my daughter marrying you," he spoke as if Priscilla was already born and he was acting like an overprotective and jealous father, "I'd rather she stay single for the rest of her life.

-I'm not the one who wants to get married, don't you listen, that's what she's asking me for, I have no intention of..." Layan justified himself, upset.

Don't make things up, you won't take advantage of her, I already have enough to put up with your presence because you're Nebraska's friend, I can't imagine being your father-in-law".

And who said I wanted you to be my father-in-law, dead first?

Both wolves began to say things to each other to the point that they were shouting at each other. Nebraska turned away from them and just watched them sighing, it would take time for them to calm down but she would not intervene. If Layan was to be her daughter's future husband, if he accepted in the end, the argument that was developing would be part of everyday life. A presence stopped beside her.

-What's going on my queen," Leoxi grimaced as she found her brother and Layan arguing heatedly, though it was different from the usual bickering.

-Nothing, just that I'm pregnant, the pup in my womb wants to marry Layan in the future and your brother refuses," she said.

A few long seconds later

-What?

Nebraska turned to him as if what he had said was the most natural thing in the world.

-I'm expecting a pup from Hades," and she walked away from him to break the news to her children, then to Sara, who would tell Siran, and Siran would announce it to the rest of the pack before she knew it.

She left the three wolves behind. Two arguing and one so confused he couldn't articulate words. Nebraska touched her belly as she climbed the stairs. She was happy to be able to procreate life again. That day, after Hades had saved her and she had learned that she could no longer have a child, something inside her was broken and her emotions were mixed. She didn't know what to think at the time, but now, she was happy, very happy to be able to give her wolf what she had longed for.

She had lost one daughter, but life had given her the chance to have another. This time she would make sure that their relationship was good and that she could be a well cared for wolf, worthy of her position. The issue with Layan was something he couldn't do much about, he would have to wait until she was adult enough to make her decision, but from what he had witnessed, Priscilla was unforgiving even if her words were sincere. He would just give her time.

Sure enough, after updating her children with the news and they nearly crushed her in their embrace, Sara was next and with her Siran, and it wasn't nightfall before everyone was aware of the good news. Hades was going to have another child, a princess and this time there was no fear that he would lose her. The cries of joy could be heard in the distance and even the wounded wolves had congratulated her as the young cubs picked flowers from the garden for her. Nebraska lay on the bed only covered in a garment of Hades' that was too big for her, it had taken hours to quell the glow of the pack, she never thought the news would take on such force. Now she felt the need to be surrounded by his scent all the time. She didn't know if it was because of the creature in her womb or the new feelings inside her. She heard the shower stop and waited for her husband to come out of the bathroom stark naked drying his hair. The goofy happy wolf smile would not disappear from his face. The omega raised her arms asking him to come to her and he didn't refuse. Walking over to the bed and reaching between her thighs, he laid her down. She didn't mind him wetting her clothes as long as he was next to her. Hades' lips sought hers and he kissed them softly, lingering long, titillating every fiber of her body.

-Please, Nebraska, don't tease me like this," her legs had wrapped around his buttocks, pinning him against her body, "If it weren't for you being pregnant I'd take you right now, though we have other ways of not getting bored," his voice was sensual, recalling the creative comments about s*x he and Layan had shared at some point in their lives, then he clicked his tongue, "This is no good, you're making me lose my mind," he kissed her again, eagerly, then lifted her head, "Nebraska, I love you, I love you so much. The she-wolf held his gaze and then caressed his cheek. Hades took her hand and kissed her palm. Droplets of water from his hair drifted down his arm and fell onto her chest.

-I know my wolf, I know," and she wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him close to murmur a few last words in his ear that made Hades tremble and his orbs lit up, raising his head again.

-My beautiful wolf, my precious wife, my mighty omega," he said.
