Alpha’s Hybrid Cinderella -
Chapter 115
Aurora
I went out and did exactly as Aamon instructed me to do. I found a tight dress to wear tonight knowing that it would drive him crazy. I got some new heels to go with it. I went to the hair salon and the nail salon. My hair was curled in perfect ringlets that framed my face and my nails look perfect. As I pull up to the house, I can't help but smirk to myself. I know how good I look, and I know how happy Aamon will be to see me. I walk inside and see that Aamon has three guests joining us tonight. They stand with him looking out the windows that show the killer view we have of the ocean. Aamon hears me and turns towards me with a smile, and he says, "Whoa, baby, you look incredible." I can't help the giggle that slips through my lips. Aamon likes to show me off to anyone that comes over. He wants me to look my best so that everyone will be envious of the mate he was given.
I look at the three men and nod my heads and say, "Hi, welcome to our home."
They nod back to me and one of them says, "Thank you, Mrs. Walker."
I don't correct them even though Aamon and I are not married. Perhaps this is a chance to bring that up to him. I know that we're mates, and marriage shouldn't matter, but it's normal in the human world and that's where he conducts a lot of his business. It makes sense for us to be married.
Plus, I still don't have my wolf. It would be nice to have him committed to me on paper. Aamon leads everyone to the living room, and he grabs me by my hips forcing me to sit in his lap.
He's so possessive, it's cute.
He talks business with the three men here and the evening seems to last forever, but I pretend to be interested in everything they're saying. Eventually, Aamon asks me to get them some drinks, so I walk off to do as he requested.
But when I was walking back with a tray full of drinks, I overheard their conversation. One of the men says, "So, Aamon, how is it going on the baby front?"
Another says, "It sucks that you have to ruin her perfect little body to get the hybrid, but," he lets out a sigh, "It must be done."
What are they talking about? What hybrid?
Aamon chuckles in response, "She still isn't pregnant. I don't know why, we do it a lot, but she still hasn't fallen pregnant. If it continues for much longer then I might have to take her to one of those human fertility doctors or something."
I didn't realize me getting pregnant soon was such a big deal. Maybe I could do some research on how to be more fertile or something. But... still, I can't help but wonder, what is he talking about with a hybrid?
I walk into the room with a smile on my face and the men clap before they each take their drink. Aamon looks at me with concern in his eyes and he says, "Baby, you should go to sleep. I'll entertain our guests until they leave."
I nod my head and give a convincing smile as I say, "As you wish, darling. It was nice to see you, gentlemen."
They all tell me goodbye and as I walk away, I can hear one of the men say, "Her body really is perfect. Hopefully it won't get too messed up when you knock her up."
It bothers me that Aamon doesn't say anything to defend me in any way. I'm more than just an object and a pretty thing.
I sit on our bed and breathe out. The hybrid thing is bothering me, and I don't know how I should or if I should bring it up to him.
It's hours before Aamon comes to our room. I haven't been able to fall asleep and I don't know whether or not I should say anything to him. He will be able to tell that I'm awake though and I don't want to have this conversation yet. My head feels muddled and I feel like there's something I must be missing.
He lies beside me and runs his fingers through my hair and murmurs, "What's wrong, baby?"
I roll over to face him and see his concerned face and instantly feel riddled with guilt knowing that I'm thinking of lying to him. I say, "Nothing really, I just struggle to sleep without you."
For a moment I think he believes me, but then he says, "There's something more than that going on. What is it? You can trust me."
My eyes look down and I respond in a quiet voice, "I overheard you and the men talking whenever I was coming back to bring you drinks. They spoke about my body being ruined by pregnancy, you are wanting me to do fertility treatments, and they mentioned a hybrid..." I pause, trying to think my words through so that I don't mess up. I continue, "I'm confused by the hybrid part. You're a werewolf and I know I don't have my wolf, but I am one too so how would our child be a hybrid?"
His jaw is clenched shut as he looks at me and then he moves my hair behind my ear and says, "Little one, you shouldn't worry about those things. All that matters is we're together."
He leans in and kisses me. He starts slow, trying to build passion so that I would jump his bones, but I'm not into it. I need to know these answers. How would we have a hybrid child? It makes no sense to me. And from what I've heard having a hybrid can cause a riskier pregnancy! If we are mixing species here, then I need to know so I can be prepared.
I pull away, putting my hands on his chest trying to create some distance and I say, "Aamon, this is serious."
He starts making a 'tsk' sound as he shakes his head at me. He gets out of bed and says, "I need you to trust in me, Aurora."
I turn to face him and watch as he moves around our room. He seems stiff, cold... calculated. Nothing like the man I have been in love with. My eyebrows furrow because for the first time I don't know if I can trust him.
I respond slowly, "I do trust you, Aamon."
He passes me a cup and says, "Then drink this."
I take the cup and look at the glistening liquid inside. I don't want to drink it, but Aamon looks at me with a gaze that is warning me not to question him. I swallow the drink quickly and try not to gag from its bitter taste. I open my mouth, wanting to ask why I needed to do that, but I don't get the chance to. The room spins and I fall to the mattress unable to keep my eyes open and my mind alert.
