Alpha’s Hybrid Cinderella -
Chapter 92
Three Years Later.
Osborn
I still haven't met my mate. How can the moon goddess be so cruel?
It's been three years! I should've met her, marked her, and maybe have a kid on the way by now. Instead, I'm alone.
My sister's 16th birthday party is tonight, and my parents are throwing her a party, I hope that maybe somehow my mate will be there, but I'm starting to wonder if I even have a mate. It's possible I don't, but regardless, I think I've been patient long enough. It's time for my dad to hand over the Alpha title.
I walk to my dad's office and take a deep breath as I straighten my tie before knocking on the door. My dad calls out, "Come in!"
I open the door and my dad smiles at me, but his smile quickly fades, he realizes I'm here for business. I tell him, "Alpha, I believe I've waited long enough. I know I don't have my mate yet, but there's a chance I don't have one or that she died or chose someone else! I can't keep waiting. Please... it's time."
My dad looks at me as he presses his lips together. He's hesitant, but he knows I'm right. He nods, "Okay, once your sister's birthday is over, we can transfer the title to you."
For the first time in a while I can feel a large smile come over my face. I nod as I say, "Thank you, dad."
He nods and I leave the room feeling thrilled that he agreed so easily. I thought it was going to be a bigger battle. Finally, I can take the role that I deserve.
Claudia
I'm sitting with Peelle and Alita having breakfast when I get a mind link from Evan, "Come here, please. We need to talk."
I frown as I push myself away from the table as I say, "Your dad needs to talk with me, kids, I'm sorry."
They both nod in understanding as I walk away. I can faintly hear Alita as she tells Peelle, "Mom's worried."
I roll my eyes, I love my daughter, but she takes advantage of her gift to hear others thoughts. It's so interesting because I was never like that. I tried to respect other privacy. She does try to block most people out, but when things slip through, she has to say something and she normally tells Peelle.
It makes me happy knowing how close they are. I know it bothered Peelle how he and Osborn grew apart, but at least he has one sibling that enjoys being around him.
I get to Evan's office and walk in to see him with his head down as he ran his hands through his hair. I walk over to him and start rubbing his tense shoulders as I ask, "What's going on, love?"
He huffs, "Osborn wants the Alpha title."
"Well, did you tell him he has to wait until he meets his m ate."
He pauses for a moment, his shoulders got more tense underneath my hands. My eyebrows scrunch together as I wait for him to speak. He says, "No, I didn't tell him that. I told him that we'll have the ceremony for him to take over after Alita's birthday party." I gasp, "Evan!"
He doesn't respond to me, and I shake my head as I try to process this. I say, "Baby, you know he isn't ready for the title. His mind is so dark, he's bound to make some mistakes that are irreversible."
"I'm aware, Claudia, but I don't think we can control this anymore. He's at the point that if I don't give it over willingly then he will challenge me for it and that would have bad repercussions. If I won then people would question his ability as Alpha, if I held back then people would be upset, and if he killed me because I wouldn't conceded then he would be looked at as cruel! Trust in me, Claudia, this is the best for everyone."
I breathe out as I rub my temples as I try to get rid of the headache that's building. Evan stands up and comes in front of me and rubs his hands up and down my arms as he says, "Hey, it's going to be okay, baby."
Tears threaten to come out and I quickly wipe my eyes trying to prevent it. I huff, "Evan, I'm just worried about him. He has so much he needs to work through and I'm not sure if he's ready for everything that comes with being Alpha."
Evan kisses my head as he says, "I know, Claudia, but we must have faith that we have taught him well. Is he a bit intense at times? ... Yes, yes, he is. But that isn't necessarily a bad thing."
I nod, Evan's right. I'm sure everything will be okay.
But I can't ignore the pit in my stomach telling me that something isn't right.
But I can't ignore the pit in my stomach telling me that something isn't right. Peelle
As soon as mom was out of sight Alita states, "Mom's worried."
I ask, "Why do you think that sis?"
She shrugs, "I would imagine that Osborn is tired of waiting on the Alpha title. You know how eager he's been to take over."
She's not wrong. Osborn has only grown more irritable over the past few years. He's constantly looked for his mate and when he couldn't find her it would just make his mood towards everyone more sore.
During the summers, I went to go visit my Aunt Alena and my uncles Breda and Solomon and Alita would come with me. The past few years, Osborn has used that time to travel to different packs and attempt to find his mate. Alita says, "He's not ready to be Alpha."
"Dad wants him to wait for his mate. I'm sure it'll be a while before he takes over."
Her eyebrows scrunch together as she pokes a piece of fruit on her plate. She says, "I think change is on the horizon, dear brother. It would be wise to stay on Osborn's good side."
I nod as I push myself away from the table and I say, "I'm going to grab my gliders and then go on a walk. I might hit the greenhouse and do some work there. Do you want to join me?"
Alita nods eagerly and she asks, “Can I hold one of them while we walk?"
I chuckle, "Let's see what they say."
She huffs as we walk up the stairs, "I'm jealous that you can talk to animals, I would kill to do that!"
I laugh as I remark, "You can read people's minds!"
"Yeah and I have no control over it. Do you know how annoying it is to hear people's thoughts whether I want to or not?"
We get to my room, and I grab out my sugar gliders. They run along my arms and up to my shoulders. My sister holds out a slice of apple that she snuck from the table and both animals rush over to her and crawl on top of her hand. She giggles as she says, "I'd much rather have the bond with animals that you have."
I smile at her as I nod towards the door and say, "Come on, let's get going."
