Osborn

My dad gave me the Alpha title this morning. Although I can tell that he was hesitant to do it, I'm grateful that he did it.

I've spent most of my day looking over the packs I intend to conquer and then I'm going to take a patrol shift tonight. I've already announced that we will have zero tolerance with rogues and I want to make sure that the patrol is following my orders so I plan to randomly go on runs to see if they can follow my instructions.

The only weird thing about today is I've noticed that my family hasn't come around me since my dad officially handed over the title this morning. I try not to let it bother me, I've put them at arm's length, I shouldn't be surprised when they don't want to be around me anymore.

I breathe out as I leave the office and lock it behind me, I want to make sure that no one can snoop through my things.

I rush outside and shift into my wolf, Belos, he breathes in the fresh air and shakes out his fur, happy to be released.

He runs around the pack grounds happily until something catches his eyes. He lets out a low growl before rushing toward it, zipping through all obstacles to get to whatever it is.

He surprises me as he pounces on some wolf and tingles erupt over our body as we both go rolling down a hill. The landing takes the air out of my lungs, but he stands up and stares at a small rogue wolf. My mate. She hasn't moved, but her scent... her scent is divine.

But... she's a rogue. How is this possible?

Of course, my mate would be the one thing that I hate most in this world.

Her head finally turned toward me, and I internally groan. I walk over to her and shift into my human form. Her eyes follow me, and I nudge her body with my foot as I say, "Stand up."

She forces herself to get on her feet and I say, "You might be my mate, but you're still a rogue. Follow me if you want to live. If you don't listen to me, then I won't hesitate to kill you, mate or not."

My wolf whimpers softly in my mind at the thought of killing our mate. But she follows me the whole way as I bring her to the cellar. We haven't captured anyone in a while so she's in luck that the whole cellar is empty.

I open one of the doors and she walks in. I close the door and stay on the other side of the cell. She looks at me and I ask, "Aren't you going to shift?"

Her body shakes and her eyes flicker between me and the floor. I breathe out as I shake my head, "I don't have time for this. I'll be back later."

I walk away and as I reach the door I hear the sound of her bones cracking as she shifts and she calls out, "Wait!"

I freeze, a part of me wants to teach her a lesson that she should have shifted when I told her too and the other part of me wants to turn back around and see what she looks like.

I huff as I push the door open, and I leave her alone. I shift into my golden wolf and run back to the house. Once I get there I run inside past my brother and sister as I go up to my room.

Peelle

Alita and I are playing a video game in the living room when Osborn comes bursting in the door. He rushes past us, fully naked showing that he shredded his clothes earlier when shifting, and he doesn't say a word.

Alita and I both look at each other with confusion. Alita asks cautiously, "Should we... should we go check on him? I mean, I know he isn't always nice to us, but he's still our brother."

I nod, "You're right, he is. Let's go check on him, but... we should give him a minute to get dressed."

She chuckles and takes advantage of the moment I'm distracted in the game to shoot my character and she yells, "BOOYAH! In your face!"

I shake my head and tease her, "Cheater."

She shrugs, "You snooze you lose. And apparently, you were snoozing."

I roll my eyes as we both stand up and walk toward the staircase. I hope Osborn won't be too upset by our presence. Something seemed off about him and we're genuinely concerned.

I knock on his door, and he yells out, "What?"

I open the door and Alita follows in after me as I say, "Hey Oz, we just wanted to check on you. Is everything okay."

He replies in a curt tone, "Everything's fine."

I press my lips as I try to decide if I should say anything else. His eyes flicker between us and he says, "Look, my life is busy now as an Alpha. If you don't have anything else to say then get out." Alita responds, "Fine, we're leaving."

She turns on her heel and leaves and although she doesn't say it, I know it bothers her how Osborn treats her. He's never acted interested in her and I know that hurts her feelings. I stand in the doorway and Osborn looks at me as he asks, "Do you have anything else you need to say, Peelle?"

I shake my head, "No, I don't. Just... you know we're here for you if you ever need to talk, right? We are brothers and Alita is a great sister. We have to stick together."

I shake my head, "No, I don't. Just... you know we're here for you if you ever need to talk, right? We are brothers and Alita is a great sister. We have to stick together."

He looks at me with a furrowed brow and says, "I don't know what your point is, Peelle."

I breathe out, "I just want you to know that you're not alone."

"Well, I know. Now, leave."

I press my lips together as I walk out the door to find Alita. She's already back downstairs sitting on the couch as she starts a solo game. She doesn't even look at me as she says, "Osborn's mate is in the cells."

My body freezes and I question, "What?"

She says, "That's why he's so panicked. His thoughts were loud and hard to ignore. Honestly, it's the clearest his heads been in a while. She's a rogue so he put her in the cells. She never shifted to her human form, so he doesn't even know what she looks like. He doesn't know what to do. He doesn't think that she's fit to be his mate or the pack's Luna since she is a rogue."

I murmur, "Well, that's intriguing."

My gliders scurry up to my shoulders, like they can sense my anxiety and are trying to calm me down by rubbing against my neck. I bring my hands as I absentmindedly pet Francois and Gus's fur and Alita pauses her game and turns towards me.

She tilts her head to the side as she says, "You're conflicted. Your mind is muddled, and it never is. What's going on?"

I shake my head softly as I say, "I need to go see her."

Alita perks up as she asks, "Can I come with?"

I shake my head no and say, "We don't know what this girl is like. She may be unstable. It's best for you to stay here."

Alita nods in understanding and says, "Be careful. I get the feeling Osborn won't be happy when he finds out that you went to see her."

I chuckle, "I'll be fine. Just text me if he heads this way."

She playfully salutes me as she says, "Aye, aye, sir!"

I roll my eyes as I walk out the door. Each step I take closer to the cells causes my stomach to churn in nervousness.

But I can't stop myself. I have to see who this girl is.
