Marcus's POV:

Mark shut the door as I had ordered, and I had to slam a palm over my mouth, to stifle my own sobs.

The look of betrayal in her eyes, mixed with pain and hate, made me want to run in there and release her from her shackles, but I knew I couldn't. It was for the best, she just had to be in there for a while... everything would be over soon. Earlier: I walked out on Chloe, because I couldn't keep looking her in the eyes and telling lies to her. Angelo had messed up my plans by showing himself to her, if he hadn't done that, then I wouldn't have Chloe all over me, acting like an annoying lover.

Mark, Titus... where are you guys?

I waited for just a second before they replied. I asked them to come over to the house, I needed some advice and assistance, I had something cooking up in my head and I couldn't do it on my own.

When I got to the house, they were already waiting for me. I ushered them inside, taking them into one of my bedrooms on the top floor. "Shut the door behind you," I ordered. Once we were inside, I ordered them both to sit on the bed, which they did. "There's trouble," I started seriously.

Mark rumpled his brows in concern, while Titus just gave me an apathetic look.

"I thought you both were just fucking a while ago?" Mark asked, trying to make light of the situation.

"Shut up," Titus snapped, giving him a dirty look. He turned his attention to me, giving me a glare. "What have you done to her this time?" He hissed.

I began pacing the room restlessly, my heart racing fast and hard as I tried to put my thoughts together. "She has finally figured it out..." I said, slapping a hand on my forehead. "She knows that I know Angelo, and now she demands that I tell her who he is."

"So what?" Titus shrugged. "What is the big deal? Tell her and get done with it," he ended.

Mark groaned, slapping Titus on the back of his head. "The next time you want to say something stupid, just shut your trap and say nothing," he scolded.

Titus looked up at me, sending me an apologetic look.

I shot him a glare, wondering if it was a mistake that I wanted to include him in my plan. If I could handle it on my own, I would have done so but unfortunately, I needed their help. "I called you both here, because I have to protect my woman and I can't seem to know how." I paused, looking from one man to the other. "You both already know more than I would like you to, but whatever happens here today, is to follow you to the grave. I wouldn't spare anyone who disobeys my order."

They both nodded and I told them my plan. Just as I had expected, there were disagreements between us. Mark claimed that Lily was going to fall into depression and die when she couldn't find Chloe, while Titus swore that he couldn't do such a horrible thing to a woman he loved. At the end of it all, no one liked the idea but we all agreed that it was for the best.

When I sensed Chloe entering the house, I ordered Titus to go distract her and buy me sometime, while I ran over to the reading desk at one corner of the room and plopped into a chair behind it. I pulled out a pen from my breast pocket, pretending to be busy with some work.

"Let's use the link in communicating, We can't risk her hearing us!"

Mark nodded, Titus did the same before heading outside. I heard his little chat with Chloe and had to force down a laugh, when it didn't end well for him.

Chloe came in and I fought the urge to take my eyes up and look at her. The guilt was eating me alive, and if I dared to look her in the eyes, I'm not sure if I'd be able to carry out my plan. She walked away from me and over to Mark. She began pestering him and I watched, shooting Mark multiple warning glares. He began to squirm, his resolve breaking and I had to step in. She picked an argument with me, pushing me to the point where I felt like bending her over and having her my way, as punishment for her sharp mouth. She had no idea what a temptation she was, her fiery nature turned me on the most!

I was able to seduce her, finally trapping her on the bed. I called for both Mark and Titus to come in and get to work. We were done in a couple of minutes and that was that!

Now I stood here outside the door where the love of my life was trapped in, struggling not to cry in front of my assistants while my body shook with severe pain. My heart hurt badly as her heart breaking sobs reached my ears. There was no other way to protect her but this, and I had to protect her no matter what! I'd be able to keep her safe, if the enemies thought that she was gone. Also, I had to lock her up because that was the only way to keep Angelo away from her and to also stop her from asking too many questions that had answers she wouldn't like to know.

If she knew of Angelo, she'd want to definitely meet the whole family and that was the real danger....

I finally moved away from where I was standing, my legs tried to give out under me and Mark came to support me, but I pushed him away. "Y'all can leave," I said, shrugging out of his hold. "Tell the chef to bring me breakfast, double ration." They bowed and left quickly. Not feeling like doing anything, I went into my room, got into bed and sat there with my back against the wall that separated me from Chloe.

I hope you will understand...

I waited, but no reply. I guess her was angry with me too, but that was only normal. I hope she didn't get depressed and die, my wolf will never forgive me and worst, Chloe will hate me more than she already did.

***

It was evening already. I had gone out to inspect how things were going around the town and heard some complaints from the members of my pack. I also consulted the oracle concerning the lurking danger that was threatening Chloe's life, and they gave me nothing, only saying that there was a strong darkness around her and they needed to be careful.

After leaving the goddess's shrine, I went over to the training ground and just as I had instructed, Titus was preparing the soldiers, strong and hard. It pleased me greatly that he'd adhered to my instructions.

Mark had gone out to talk to the other Alphas who were my acquaintance. I had sent him to look for help, as I couldn't leave Chloe's side or I would have gone myself.

I ascended the stairs, my eyes focused on the closed door beside my room. She was so quiet... if not for her strong scent emanating from the room, I would have thought that she had escaped.

I reached my room door and just as I'd turned the knob and the door cracked open, the feeling of longing that had been lingering in my heart; blossomed into something deeper and I just couldn't go in there, knowing that she was just in the other room.

I knocked.

No reply.

"Chloe? Baby?" Still, no reply.

I quickly pushed the door back and there she was... sitting with her back against the headboard and her eyes lowered. "Chloe?" I called.

Her eyes came up to meet mine. "Why are you here?" She asked. I opened my mouth to speak but then, she proceeded to say: "Whatever it is that you have to say, I do not have any interest to hear it."

I sighed, my eyes flickering to the meals that had been left untouched. She hadn't had all three meals, which I'd sent Mark to deliver for her and I wondered how hungry she'd be by now. Ignoring her words, I moved towards her cautiously, in case she decided to change her mind and decided to attack me.

I sat at the edge of the bed, keeping a good distance between us. I picked up the fork, taking off the lid of her dinner and knowing she loved meat more, I went for the meat first. "Here," I said, raising the fork to her lips.

She looked at the meat hungrily and for a moment, I thought she was going to open her mouth and take it. Her her flickered between the meat and I, then she turned her face the other way. "Chloe," I sighed, shifting a bit closer to her. "Please way up, don't you feel hungry? Don't starve yourself..."

She rolled her eyes over to me. "Oh yeah, I forgot you really do care, don't you?" she said sarcastically. "Don't give me your food. The pain you have inflicted upon me is far worse than the hunger I feel." My heart broke, and I had to take deep breaths in order not to break down in front of her. I tried to get up, but my legs were shaking, the weakness I felt in my knees threatened to throw me down if I stood. I could see Chloe watching me out of the corner of my eyes. I took her by surprise when I turned to look at her and her face was scrunched up in concern and worry as she stared at my shaking legs. She probably wasn't aware that I was looking because when she lifted her eyes and saw me, her cheeks reddened in embarrassment. She looked away, trying to keep a straight face but her blush deepened.

I had to cough to stifle my laughter, not wanting to humiliate her more than she already felt. My heart felt at peace now, at least I knew for a fact that I still had my little wolf somewhere in there. I got lost in her eyes, not realizing that I'd been staring too long.

"Hello?" She called, waving a hand on my face. "It's rude to stare so shamelessly at people, get your ass going, you're getting me irritated!"

My wolf flinched at her harsh words, a severe kind of pain; spreading all over my chest like wildfire. How was I to keep her safe, without keeping her from hating me? She was a wanderer like myself and if there was anything I couldn't tolerate, was someone restraining me. I wouldn't stay indoors even if someone asked nicely.

I had to act fast, really fast before I lost her completely. I sighed in defeat, getting up the bed and started walking towards the door. I could feel her eyes on me, scrutinizing me like I was some object of wonder. When I got to the open door, I turned to look at her one last time and she looked away, refusing to meet my eyes even once.

I shut the door behind me, the heavy feeling of what was about to happen crowding my thoughts again. I got into my room, my ears focused on the next room, to see if she'd started eating. I heard rustling around and then, I heard her chewing so softly. I smiled to myself, knowing that she was finally eating.

With the sleeping pills I'd made them add in her food, she'd be able to catch some sleep... at least, until tomorrow noon.

Without further ado, I took off my clothes and stepped into the bathroom. I turned on the shower, letting the water cascade down my body, washing away all the stress of the day.

It was somewhere in between my shower that I sensed something, or someone rather. I turned off the shower, quickly grabbing one towel from the rack and wrapped it around my waist. I took in a deep breath, trying to sniff for scent, but nothing.

Only one person came to my mind and my anger began to build up again. Securing my towel tightly around my waist, I came out of my room, looking around to see if I'd spot him, but I didn't see him. "Maybe I'm just paranoid," I sighed. I went back into the darkness of my room and shut the door.
