He cocked an eyebrow. "You remember him too? What about him do you remember? Tell me...

I laughed out loud, throwing my head back against the chair. "I told you that it wasn't you who came to visit earlier, didn't I? It's surprising how low you all think of me, I truly am not as stupid as I look." "You knew that was Jason all along, didn't you?"

"No, I didn't." My sarcasm must have been funny, because his lips lifted up at the corners. "What's so funny? Who is laughing with you?"

For the first time in a while, he gave out a hearty laugh. "I know you aren't stupid, all I have ever wanted was for you to remember but only, at the right time." He paused, giving me an adoringly look. "You have grown so much in the last nine months, I think it's time."

We just say there looking at each other, a lot of thought running through my mind while I couldn't tell what was going through his with him sitting there and looking at me the way he was. It was like he was getting a read out of me and even knowing that I had put a barrier on my thoughts, it still made me kind of uncomfortable.

"Why had Jason come instead of you?" I asked, trying to lighten the tenseness of the atmosphere. His eyes made way for confusion and I had to make him clear. "I mean, when I had asked Marcus to call you over, Jason had come over instead of you, why?"

A chuckle rumbled out of his throat. "And he thought he was discreet enough with the whole hair colour changing and all, he was so certain that he had got you fooled."

"So... why did he come? If I remembered clearly, he was never a fan of me and I never thought he could just be checking up on me?"

Angelo sighed, a torn look falling over his face. "He was actually checking up on you, you know. When your husband's message had reached me, he was with me and he just wanted to check in on you and see how well you were doing." "And what did he say?"

A smile snuck unto his lips. "He said it was almost painful, how much you looked like mother. He loves you a lot, he just isn't the kind of person to be all warm and easy on others," he said.

I nodded, knowing that that was part of the truth but it wasn't all of it. Jason still blamed me for our mother's death and no matter how I pretended that I wasn't affected by whatever he thought of me, it really did hurt sometimes that instead of consoling each other in our time of sorrow, we were rather fighting each other.

I felt a soft touch on my hand and looked up, to see that Angelo had held me, watching me with a sad look in his eyes which mirrored mine. "Do you think we will ever be happy again?"

He forced a smile. "Maybe when all of these passes and we have concurred all our enemies, only then will we be able to find peace and happiness. As for Vodos, you have nothing to worry. I will immediately inform dracula about his breaking out and he would be punished, hopefully by death."

I shuddered, a cold coursing through me at the mention of my grandfather's name. "Does he know you are here? Did you tell him you were coming here?"

He shook his head in denial. "Nope. He has no idea about you or where you are, he only suspects that I keep in touch with you. Why are you asking?"

I accessed his worried face, my hand almost reached up to adjust the stress lines that had formed on his forehead. He really had no idea that grandfather had found me first, before he even came to pay a visit. "He knows where I am, he was even at my wedding.

He stilled, the hand that was gripping mine also tightened painfully. I winced and he released me, quickly muttering his apology. "Fuck," he muttered, his hands folding into fists. "That sly demon, kept acting like he never knew all along!" I watched as he swiftly got up and started pacing the room repeatedly. He paced for a while, then his sharp gaze landed on me and that took me by surprise.

"When was the first time you met him?"

"About two months ago."

"And the second time?"

I thought for a while. I had been seeing a lot of him in my dreams and memories, but I had not really met him again, until two days ago. "On my wedding day," I replied.

"Blast!" He cursed, slamming his hands against the side of the desk. "Damn Jason and his carelessness!" He started muttering some incoherent words and all I could do was sit back and watch. "You know that Marcus had written me an invitation to the wedding right?"

"I never knew that," I replied honestly.

He stole a glance at me and his eyes were back on the desk where he was perching on. "Angelo had received the invitation and brought it to me, but he had promised that no one had seen him or heard about it. We decided it would be best not to attend, since dracula's search for you was getting frantic and more demanding. Never did I know he had overhead us," he muttered in the end.

I heaved a deep sigh, my chest felt light as I came to understand that my brothers had no part in my grandfather's evil, maybe I wasn't so alone any more. "So... what now?"

"I... I don't know," he said, looking helpless for the first time since we started talking. "We... we need a plan."
