Chloe's

POV:

At the court: Cara sat across from me on the front row, glaring daggers, to which I reciprocated with an equally cold stare. Mark and Lily sat together, on the other wing. Lily waved at me, and I looked away, before the smile that was coming to the surface of my lips slip out. Titus sat beside me, while Marcus; who was to be the judge of the case, sat on the stage, before the crowd in the room. Little Daniella, my maid who was soon to be fired, also sat beside Cara with her head bent. She had been that way since we stepped into court, and and I wondered if it was because she regretted telling some untrue things about me.

I sat with my arms crossed, feeling a little embarrassed whenever I looked up the stage, and found Marcus's eyes on me. He couldn't look away and as romantic as that was supposed to be, it made me feel sick and embarrassed. I was sure that by now, almost everyone should have noticed the way he looked at me like I was the only one in the room.

I looked around what I had just learnt today that was the town's court. Never had II seen the building as it was isolated on the other end of town that was more rowdy than the places where I liked to be at. It was wide enough to contain more than three thousand wolves at one time, and that could be our whole pack and some more...

We were commanded to rise, when the doors opened and just like the others, I craned my neck to see who was so important that even Marcus had to remain standing as they walked in.

In walked the old man from my coronation, the representative for the moon goddess, oracle. He looked straight ahead, bearing the goddess's mantle for truth in his hand as he walked straight up to Marcus who bowed, and the old man also returned the bow before he turned back to the crowd. He raised his he mantle high above his hand and we all fell to our knees in exultation and worship to the goddess.

We only got up after we were asked to, taking our seats. Then, the case was opened and the man who had led the ground of revolters into our cave house, was called out and he gave his own part of the story.

He explained how he was working in his stall yesterday afternoon, when Cara had come to him and asked that he led them to fight me as she had solid proof that I was was a vampire and solid proof being what the Daniella girl had seen earlier.

After his statement was taken, he swore before the goddess's mantle of truth and walked down the stage. Next, was Daniella.

She walked over to the stage reluctantly, stealing a guilty look at me when she turned to face the crowd. She opened her mouth to speak, then closed it back. She took deep breaths, and was I a bad person to say that I had some kind of joy flow through me as she suffered for words? Never had I known that the best part was yet to come.

"Miss. Daniella?" Marcus called out impatiently. "You have been standing there for about five minutes and have not uttered a single word, are you alright?" Daniella's eyes were red by now and I thought that any moment from now, she would burst into tears and ...

"I lied," she cried out, making everyone in the room gasp. She sniffed, wiping off the tears that rolled down her cheeks. "Cara made me do it, the Luna never threatened to eat me up, she made that up. and forced me to say that in front of everyone. She hates the Luna because she can't have the Alpha for herself and she is jealous."

At that very moment, I turned to see a red faced Cara, who was sitting way too quiet for her usually loquacious self. She was shooting deadly glares at Daniella, who by the lol of things, was past the stage of giving a 'fuck' about whatever she thought about her or the situation in general.

"Do you swear that what you have said is the truth?" Marcus asked and Daniella nodded. "Now, go before the Goddess's mantle of truth, and swear your innocence."

She did as she was instructed, then stepped down from the stage. This time, she made sure to sit a good distance away from Cara who looked like she was ready to jump at the nearest victim she could get her hands on and squeeze the life out of them.

It was my turn next and once I heard them call my name, I hyperventilating. My eyes met with the oracle who I had now come to know was called: Moo-ne, and he gave me a reassuring smile. We had gone to him last night, confessing all what I knew he had already known from before I was even born. He had said that the moon goddess was ony side and that anyone who fought me, opposed her will and that was a great sin before her. He told me to speak my truth, that she would help everyone understand and listen.

I stood on the stage, trying to keep. my head high and up, as I stared back at all the eyes that were looking at me curiously. Marcus asked that I said my truth and I did.

"I was born Chloe Tristan, daughter to Alpha Tristan and queen Claire. My father was a werewolf and my mother..." I panted heavily, not knowing it was going be so hard to say this part of the story. I turned to look at Marcus and he nodded, giving me an encouraging smile. "... a vampire," I whispered, but I knew they heard me.

I waited for the murmuring to come, but they never did and I took that as my cue to proceed. "I was blessed with a silver wolf, one of the highest ranked here on earth and even in the heavens, I was born to be a Luna, a destined queen for your Alpha," I added, giving Marcus a side glance. "I am a hybrid, but I am also a regular werewolf, just like the rest of you all and I would like to be treated as one. Never have I consumed any human blood, and I have no plans to do any of such in the future to come. I will serve and protect this pack for the rest of my life and not once, will I turn my back on you all because you are the family I got, when mine were brutally snatched from me! I hope we would be able to work in unity and understanding, because no matter how you choose to hate me, it will never change the fact that I remain your Luna and tht I will always be!"

I decided not to talk any further, telling Moo-ne that I was done and just like with Daniella, I was asked to swear before the goddess, that I had said nothing but the truth. I swore and went off the stage.

A few more people came to give their testimonies, including the soldiers who had gone to fight with me. They had bragged about my abilities and how I used them to protect the pack amd for the good of everyone. Lily also gave her testimony, even going as far as breaking down into tears, just to prove her point. Mark, Titus and surprisingly, a few of the other women also gave a few good talks in my favour.

Moo-ne finally rose, clearing his throat to get all of our attention. "Good people of the goddess, I greet you all!"

We chorused back out greetings.

"I have heard all that you have said and I stand by our beloved Luna. The heavens knew of what she was, before they chose her to be your ruler, alongside her husband. She is all this pack had ever needed, a precious gift, a messiah and instead of being ungrateful to the goddess for such a priceless gift, you choose to complain?" He ran his gaze over the crowd, his wise eyes coming to rest upon falling on me. "The moon goddess takes side with Chloe Zephora Blackwood and anyone who fights against her, fights against heaven! This is the goddess's message for you all!"

To my surprise, he also swore before the goddess's mantle of truth, before taking his seat. I turn around to see if there would be any more witnesses, but no one was forthcoming. Suddenly, Marcus stood up, taking his place on the stage. As usual, his eyes were glued to me and I cocked an eyebrow in question, but all he did was pass me a wink that got me blushing like a fool.

"I would like to use this opportunity, to inform you all that I hand over matters concerning the military to my dearest wife," he said everyone word without stuttering or hesitating. "She would help the Gamma to over see that we are always prepared and in good training and preparation for war."

My mouth remained hanging open, and even when the people started murmuring, all I could hear ringing in my ears were his words. I felt so excited that if not for my subjects who were present, I could have hopped in the air and done a few happy dance steps. I smiled, mouthing my thanks to him then remembered Titus. I turned to see that he was already looking at me, with an amused smirk plastered on his face, them; he winked.

I had really hoped that Marcus had not seen him do that but when I turned back to Marcus, he was pinning Titus with a deathly glare. Titus was in deep shit, that was for sure and me,... I hoped he would not go back on his decision and change his mind about me working with Titus.

The hall was quieted down, when Marcus roared his warning louder than necessary. The verdict was read out and I had won the case!

Cara was sentenced to one month of doing community service, while Daniella was given two weeks and on top of that, I fired her.

I asked all the women to remain back as I wanted to seize the opportunity to get to know them better. While a lot had complied, a good number had also walked out on me, with unhappy looks plastered on their faces. I made do with what i. had, but made a promise to. myself that I would make sure that nonsense stopped, I will. make them all obey me!

Marcus had left with the men, while I stayed back with the rest of the women, talking about random stuff and also hearing their complaints and promising to take their problems to Marcus.

We took a stroll around town, visiting sick wolves and little children. Now they knew what I was, it felt so good finally being out there in the open, it felt like a heavy load had been taken off my shoulders. I would not pretend that I did not notice when some flinched if I got too close, or how they try to hold their kids away when I try to with them. It still did hurt but hopefully, they would get used toe after a while and everything will fall into place.

It was already evening by the time I was ready to go home. I said my goodbye to the rest of the women who were left and walked the rest of the way home. The house was quiet by the time I got there and I guessed that the servants must have retired for the day. I made my way into the house, rubbing my temple as a headache started to gradually form.

I had made it past the living room and was now at the bottom of the stairs, when someone called my name, making me stiffened in shock. I whipped around, meeting his mischievous grin. "Welcome child!"
