Alpha's One Night Bride
Alpha’s One Night Bride – Chapter 104

It was time.

It was time he finally took on the role as Overseer; officially. The world needed an Overseer, and he couldn’t delay the process any longer. They’ve gone too long without any actual order and because of that, so many people had gotten hurt. A lot of packs have been overturned; Alpha’s are abusing their powers and hurting their lunas.

Witches are being summoned and used for attack. It wasn’t fair to everybody to have to continue living in fear. Even when every obstacle that came their way was defeated, a lot of wolves still got hurt and killed because of everything that’s happened.

Arina’s mom, Jonathan’s dad, Jessica, Spencer, Anderson, Nikini, and even Arina at times have had it so badly this past year. He could hardly imagine what the rest of the world was looking like without Jonathan by their side.

He didn’t want to wait around to find out any longer. He needed to start being the Overseer that everybody deserved. He was ready to rise to the top.

He called his mom over because he wanted to talk to her and Arina about possibly going to the Overseer tower over the weekend. He figured if he was going to take on the role of the Overseer, he might as well check out all the benefits that came with it.

The Overseer tower was initially designed for Benjamin; it was his first actual home after being a lone wolf for so long. It meant to be a large manor where he was able to channel most of his powers into the foundations of the home. It would make it so his everyday life wasn’t so overwhelming with the sight he couldn’t control; whenever he needed to use his powers, he would go to the tower and collect the power that he needed.

Jonathan was hoping he would be able to do the same. He was sick of being transported through places without meaning to and being taken back and forward through time whenever he touched someone. He would often have to remove his cufflink because it would be too much for him. He was still learning how to control his powers with his cufflink on and whenever he removed it, he feared it would fall into the wrong hands.

He hated having to remove his cufflink and trying to find a place where no one would find it. But even then, it would still be in the back of his mind until he puts it back on. It’s constantly living in a state of fear and anxiety and wanted to diminish that.

If he could channel most of his powers into the tower and just keep a hold of some when he wasn’t working, that would be ideal for him. He wouldn’t have to remove the cufflink anymore and he wouldn’t feel as overwhelmed.

“The Overseer tower?” Jess asked, surprised when Jonathan mentioned to them that he wanted to go there to see it.

Jonathan nodded.

“Yes. I think we should go this weekend,” he said, staring between her and Arina.

They both stared back wide-eyed; neither of them expected that.

“Are you sure you want to do that?” Jess asked.

He knew she was worried; she was always worried. She never wanted him to take on the role of Overseer because she knows how cruel the world has been. She’s spent most of her life on the run with her mother because of the Davis bloodline and now they were officially coming out of hiding. Neither of them knew how the world was going to react to them.

“I have to, mom,” he said to her, trying to keep his voice comforting.

She sighed, defeated.

“I’m with you. Regardless of what you do,” Arina said as she stood on her tippy toes and kissed him gently on the side of his mouth.

He smiled his appreciation down at her and returned her k**s.

“Okay, then let’s go to the tower,” Jess said; she still sounded nervous, but she wasn’t going to argue.

Jonathan felt grateful to have them both there for this experience.

It took them about two days to travel to the Overseer tower. It was basically in the middle of nowhere, outside of a couple of different packs. It was deep in the forest, and it seemed perfect for an overseer. It was a large manor; Jonathan wouldn’t even consider it a tower.

It made for good hunting grounds.

A few miles west, they could hear the soft sounds of the river and some animals lapping through the waters. It made Jonathan’s stomach growl because they haven’t eaten yet.

He wasn’t sure what he was expecting when they arrived at the manor; maybe he expected it to be more out in the open where anyone can just stumble across it. Perhaps he expected there to be some sort of gate that blocked them from the entrance. But whatever gate was here, was long gone. Maybe it never existed. It was hard to tell.

They got to the door and right away he realized it was locked.

“Do we have a key?” He asked his mom.

She looked around the door and pointed at a small scanner near the doorknob.

“Press the cufflink against that,” she suggested.

He pressed the cufflink against the door, and he heard the latching of the lock. He breathed out, relieved, as he pushed the door open.

They could definitely tell that nobody has lived here in decades. The wooden floorboards and wood-tiled walls were covered in thick layers of dust. There were portraits of former Overseers on the wall across the foyer; of course, the first picture was the biggest. Benjamin.

The portraits had spiderwebs in the corners of them; they haven’t been touched in a very long time. The air was musky, and Jonathan found it difficult to breathe; it was the layers of dust that clouded the air that made it most difficult to breathe.

He could feel some of the energy left behind from when the previous Overseers were.

“This place is amazing,” Arina breathed as she walked around in awe.

Emee was in her arms, and she was also looking around in wonder; Jess stood by Jonathan’s side. He knew this was a lot for her to handle. She never dreamt of actually being in the Overseer manor. He held onto her hand to keep her steady; she stared up at him with appreciation in her eyes.

“My mother is probably rolling over in her grave right now,” Jess said with a chuckle in her voice. “She would never approve of this.”

“I’m really glad you’re here, mom,” Jonathan told her.

She smiled and then started looking around some more.

“What do we do now?” She asked. “Clean up some of the dust?”

Jonathan laughed.

“Definitely on our list. Maybe we can recruit some extra help to clean up. But right now, I want to see if I can find the Overseer tower room,” he told her.

“That’s probably upstairs,” she said, motioning for the large set of spiral stairs on the far-left side of the foyer.

Arina and Emee were already walking up the stairs to explore more of the manor on their own. Jonathan couldn’t help but laugh; it was very Arina to be curiously wandering around on her own. He was happy that things were finally getting back to normal with her and her stresses weren’t as intense anymore.

Jonathan began walking up the stairs as well with Jess trailing closely behind him. The second floor looked to be all bedrooms and bathrooms; there had to be dozens of bedrooms and bathrooms. They made their way to the very top of the manor and stumbled into a large hallway. There was a large set of maroon doors at the end of the hallway that Jonathan almost felt drawn to.

He could almost feel the powers radiating off the doorway and the heat that came with it. He pressed his fingers against the door and breathed in the energy it provided him. Jess stared in wonder; from the look in her eyes, he knew that she could also feel the powers the door, or room, provided.

He pushed open the doors and he stood in a room that wasn’t a room. He couldn’t explain what he was seeing even if he tried. It was a room of complete white; he wasn’t sure what the floors and the walls were made of. But they were completely white. In the center of the room on a small white pillar, was a large purple and black ball; it was a purple ball with black swirls that were literally moving in swirling motions through the ball. It reminded Jonathan of a Chrystal ball, and he was in awe of it.

He approached the ball and placed the palms of his hands on the ball; he instantly felt the powers of the other Overseers swirling throughout the ball. He breathed in their energy; he closed his eyes and allowed for the ball to take some of the energy from Jonathan’s cufflink and contribute to the energy of the former Overseers.

He heard his mom gasping from beside him and then he felt Arina nearby as well.

“Woah…” Arina said from the doorway.

“Woah is right,” Jess breathed.

Jonathan opened his eyes to see what they were looking at and soon he realized.

The room was no longer white; instead, there were hundreds to thousands of motion images circling around the room. He saw every pack in the world, every wolf, every situation, every crisis.

He saw everything.
