Alpha's One Night Bride
Alpha’s One Night Bride – Chapter 95

Ronnie felt as though she was no longer her own person; she wanted to trust and believe Arina and Jonathan when they said they were going to protect her, but she couldn’t help but fear that Willa was going to get to her before they even had the chance to summon Naomi and defeat her.

Erick also worried; Ronnie hasn’t been sleeping and she’s hardly been eating. She knew she worried him by how she was acting but he was too nice to say anything to her besides express his concern for her wellbeing. She was thankful that he was still by her side regardless of everything that was happening. She felt bad because she felt as though she was bringing all this danger and drama into his life, but he kept reassuring her that it wasn’t her fault and that nothing was going to chase him away.

He was her mate after all. Literally, nothing could chase him off regardless of how hard she tried.

Boris had come by last night to tell them that Nikini was dead and that Melissa/Willa was missing. He didn’t know that Willa was Melissa; he had heard about Willa, just as anybody has, but he never dreamt that she could be walking amongst us and pretending to be one of us. Imagine the shock when he found out the truth.

Ronnie knew that Nikini was also marked by Willa, and she felt bad that Boris wasn’t warned. Whenever Willa had a visitor at the prison, she was entrancing Boris into forgetting about the entire conversation or almost keeping him frozen during the conversation. He would basically lose a chunk of time.

She felt awful she couldn’t do more to save Nikini.

“We need to get you into protection,” Erick said the next day after Boris left. Ronnie stared up at him with a frown on her face and questions in her eyes. “With Willa somewhere out there…” he couldn’t finish his sentence.

He didn’t have to finish his sentence. Ronnie knew what he was going to say. He worried that Ronnie was next on her list. Willa didn’t need to stay in the prison anymore, especially now that she was found out. She was moving much quicker than they anticipated; even Arina seemed worried.

“I hate to agree…” Arina said softly, approaching Ronnie cautiously. “But Erick is right. You need to get to protection until we can sort this whole mess out and get our eyes on Willa.”

They all glanced over at Jonathan who was standing with his eyes closed and his fingers on his cufflink. He was trying to track Willa but from the wary expression on his face, they could tell he was having some trouble doing that. I would imagine she has Jonathan blocked from her sight; she did create the block anti-Overseer cufflink for Greggory’s family. It wouldn’t be a surprise if she held the same powers or had a cufflink for herself.

“Where do you expect me to go?” She asked, staring around the many eyes of the room.

They were all silent for a few moments; none of them knew where she could hide. There was really nowhere that she could hide where Willa wouldn’t find her.

“How about the underground bunker where Rock hides those pregnant women?” Erick asked.

Jonathan opened his eyes and sighed in defeat. He had no luck in seeing Willa, just as they expected.

“Nothing,” he said aggravated. They all sighed out in defeat as well. “But yeah, the bunker should work. At least for now.”

“I’ll go with her and make sure she’s safe there,” Erick said as he wrapped an arm around Ronnie.

Ronnie was nervous; she was frightened of that bunker knowing what was being held down there. Plus, she wasn’t sure how safe it really was. Could it be strong enough to make sure that Willa didn’t enter? Was she actually safe there?

“Meanwhile, I’ll call my mom and have her come here. I’d feel better if we were all together,” Jonathan said as he started walking towards the back of the house.

“What about Jessica and Spencer?” Arina asked.

Ronnie knew she was worried about Jessica considering Greggory was also out there and most of this was his family’s doing.

Jonathan paused.

“Get a hold of Dr. Beverly and see if we can transport Jessica here for recovery,” Jonathan told her. “Jessica seemed to trust you the other day and she obviously trusts Spencer. I don’t see why she can’t stay here.”

Arina smiled eagerly; she was excited to have her best friend home again. She didn’t hesitate to get Dr. Beverly on the phone.

Ronnie turned to Erick with worried eyes and buried her face in his chest; he wrapped his arms around her gently and held her close in a warm embrace. She always felt safe being in his arms and she was grateful he was there to protect her.

“I love you,” he whispered to her against her ear.

She smiled at him as tears filled her eyes.

“I love you too,” she said in return as their lips met.

The feeling of his warm and soft k****s sent a light warm feeling through her chest; her heart practically skipped a beat. She could feel her wolf growing excited deep within her and then grow disappointed as they pulled apart.

Even her wolf wanted more of him, but she knew now was not the time.

“We should go,” he told her softly.

She nodded slowly, agreeing with him.

Both Arina and Jonathan came back around the same time.

“Spencer is bringing Jessica here. He says she still has no memory, but she’s been doing pretty good health-wise,” Arina said.

That was relieving to hear. Jessica being in the condition she was because of Greggory was majorly scary.

“And my mom is on her way as well; she’s bringing the spellcasting book,” Jonathan said.

“I’m going to take Ronnie to the bunker,” Erick told him.

“Okay,” Jonathan agreed. “Just be careful. If Willa has any of the same powers as Naomi, she already knows what we are planning and where you are going.”

Erick’s face fell as he thought about that; neither Ronnie nor Erick had thought about that.

“It’s okay,” Jonathan assured them. “I may not be able to see Willa, but I can see you both and I’m keeping an eye on you. Any signs of danger and I’ll be there instantly.”

He motioned for his cufflink.

Erick nodded his thanks to Jonathan as Arina came to hug Ronnie.

“Please be careful,” she whispered to her sister.

“You too,” Ronnie said in return, tears in her eyes.

This very well could be the last time she saw her sister and her friends. Her heart was heavy just thinking about it but she needed to be strong. She couldn’t show Willa the kind of weakness Willa was expecting.

Erick wrapped an arm around Ronnie and pulled her towards the doorway. Ronnie was hesitant at first but then followed in line with him after a few moments.

Once they got to the bunker, Ronnie wasn’t sure what to do. The bunker was exactly how Erick had described it when he first went there to release the captives. It smelled musky and of old body odor; Ronnie found it difficult to breathe.

There are multiple rooms in the bunker that reminded her of the prison cells in Silverside. The rooms were small with a twin bed that lay in the center of the room; the beds were unmade and some of them had b***d-stained sheets.

Ronnie grimaced at the thought of women giving birth down there. She couldn’t believe Rock, the man she thought to be her father for all those years, was capable of something so heinous.

Erick was standing in the center of the bunker, watching Ronnie make her way through each room. She was trying to figure out which one was clean enough for her to stay inside but none of them looked sanity. Each one seemed to be worse than the last.

“This is the only option for right now,” he told her.

She knew that and she understood, but that didn’t mean she liked it any better.

“It’s okay,” she told him; she didn’t want him to be worried.

But he still looked at her with worry in his eyes.

“I won’t let anything happen to you,” he promised her.

She gave him a faint smile and walked towards him; standing on her tippy toes she kissed the side of his mouth gently.

“I know and I appreciate that,” she told him kindly.

He gave her a smile in return and held her close to him, hugging her tightly.

Erick was just as scared as Ronnie, but he wouldn’t let her know that; he wanted to be strong for his future luna. He couldn’t show fear because that would mean he was doubting their whole plan.

“It’s going to be okay,” she said, faking her newfound confidence.

She wasn’t sure if she was talking to herself or him.

“I know…” he said softly, pressing his lips against her head. “I’ll make sure of it.”
