Alpha's One Night Bride
Alpha’s One Night Bride – Chapter 98

Spencer was waiting for us outside the bunker doorway; his features looked pale white. I saw some b***d trickling from his knuckles from when he was punching the door in an attempt to get it open. As we approached him a flood of relief washed over him, and I could literally hear his heart rate lessening.

“I brought some reinforcements,” I told him, motioning for my mom and Naomi.

He stepped aside from the door to join me as we watched my mom and Naomi approach the door cautiously.

“Were you able to hear and speak with them?” I asked, keeping my tone low.

He shook his head; the grim look on his face returned.

“No, I tried to link them, and I couldn’t get a hold of either of them,” Spencer said.

That wasn’t sounding good; that heavy feeling in my stomach was returning.

“With the enchantment, Willa put on the bunker, it seems she put a block on it as well. You won’t be able to communicate with them until we get it open,” Naomi answered, overhearing our conversation.

I breathed out in relief.

“So, it’s not because something happened to them that we can’t get a hold of them?” I asked, for clarity.

“Not necessarily,” Naomi answered.

Naomi placed the palm of her hand on the door and closed her eyes. A soft white glow appeared around her fingertips and the deeper she breathed, the more intense the glow had gotten.

After a few moments, she pulled back.

“I was able to reach Ronnie,” she said; she sounded tired. I could imagine going against her sister’s strong magic was a lot for Naomi and handling and draining her of her own magic. “They are both okay, but Jessica is unconscious. She’s breathing and her heart rate seems normal.”

“Unconscious?” I asked, worry lingering in my tone.

“But she’s going to be okay?” Spencer asked, there was worry in his tone too.

“From the sounds of it yes. It sounds like Willa might have knocked her out when she put her in there,” Naomi said.

She took a step away from the door and my mother stepped in front of her. She mimicked exactly what Naomi did and placed the palm of her hand on the door. Only her hand began glowing a soft pink color; the pink started off light but then with each breath she took, it began glowing a more intensified and darker color. It started reaching a point where it was red and then maroon.

The glow began expanding farther than just her fingertips and door, it began outlining the entire area where the bunker was hidden. I could feel the heat of the glow intensifying and bouncing off my features; I got to a point where I was almost sweating.

I took an unsteady step backward; Spencer followed my lead. I could tell the heat was getting to him as well. Naomi stood in her place, watching in wonder as my mother worked her moon goddess magic.

With a final exhale, my mother pulled her hand away and the glow, along with the heat, began to simmer down until they were nonexistent. She touched her fingers to the doorknob and pulled it open with ease.

We breathed out in relief.

My mother turned to face us with a timid smile on her face; I could tell this was still so new to her and this kind of power wasn’t something she took lightly. But it was also something she was shy about expressing. She spent a lot of her life being the weak one and constantly being shut down by Rock. Now she had all this power, and it was unfamiliar but exciting all at the same time.

I was so happy for her, and I was so proud of her.

Spencer wasted no time; he was already running into the bunker. I could hear his feet clattering against the ladder to reach the underground section Ronnie and Jessica were stored. I followed pursuit and went in with him.

Ronnie was sitting on the ground outside of one of the rooms; her red hair was messily placed around her shoulders and looked as though she was trying to rip her hair out of her skull. I couldn’t blame her for wanting to do that in a situation like that. Being locked down here without knowing what was going on out there. Then all of a sudden Jessica and Willa show up; Willa wanting Ronnie to die.

Ronnie stood to her feet; her eyes large with wonder as we all stumbled into the room with her. Tears spring from her eyes as she stared around our familiar faces. Then her eyes caught a glimpse of my mother who stood at the doorway. Her eyes widened in shock, as I knew they would, and she turned to me.

Questions were lingering in her eyes.

“Later,” I promised her as I wrapped my arms around her to pull her in for a hug. “Where’s Jessica?”

She pointed to the door she was once sitting nearby.

“Erick’s in there with her,” she told me.

Spencer was the first to pull the door open. Sure enough, Erick was sitting at her bedside. He was checking for her pulse as we entered.

He looked relieved to see us standing there and he stood to his feet.

“She’s alive. She just won’t wake up,” he explained.

Spencer went to sit at her bedside and held onto her hands. He looked so sad; it was pulling at my heartstrings.

My mother entered after me and I could tell that it caught Erick off guard to see her standing there. His mouth dropped open as he stared around her beautiful and glowing features. I had to keep myself from laughing at his shocked expression.

“Long story,” I told him. “We’ll talk about it later.”

He nodded and struggled to pull his eyes away from my mother; he went to join Ronnie outside the door.

My mother went to Jessica’s bedside and placed the palms of her hands on each side of her face and closed her eyes. I saw a soft white glow appearing from her fingertips.

As she did that, I looked over at Ronnie who was staring at me with worry still in her eyes.

“Willa is gone,” I assured her.

She gasped softly at my words.

“Gone?” She asked.

I smiled and nodded.

“Gone,” I assured her.

She looked down at her bracelet which was still fully intact on her wrist.

“We’ll get it off you,” I promised her.

Before I could say more, I heard Jessica gasping for air. I turned to face them, and she was sitting up in bed. Her eyes were huge, and alert and she is breathing in as much air as she could take.

“Jessica?” Spencer said; before Willa had taken her, she had amnesia.

We all stared at her wondering if her memories had turned to her.

“What’s going on?” She asked, staring around our faces. She looked over at my mother and her eyes grew even larger. “Emlin?” She whispered.

She never actually met my mother, but she has seen pictures of her and I looked like the spitting image of my mother.

“Jessica?” I said softly, taking a step closer to them.

She turned to look at me.

“Arina?” She said, breathlessly. She stared around at the others and then her eyes finally landed on Spencer. “Mystery guy…”

He broke out into a relieved grin; she was back.

“Spencer,” he said to her.

“Spencer…” she repeated, processing his name.

“Your memory is back,” I said; tears springing from my eyes as I wrapped my arms around her and pulled her in for a tight embrace.

“My memories?” She said, sounding confused. “I lost them?”

I laughed.

“Yeah. Greggory did a number on you,” I told her.

She gasped; I could see the fear rolling through her eyes as she remembered her abusive husband.

“Don’t worry,” I assured her, tightening my hold on her. “He can’t hurt you anymore. He’s in the Silverside prison.”

“What?” She breathed. “How?”

“It’s a long story. But the short version is that he wasn’t a good guy, Jessica. He did some awful things. To you. To us. To Emee…” my voice trailed off as I remembered the events that just took place.

“Is everybody okay?” She asked, her voice cracking slightly.

“Yes,” I told her gently. “Emee is home with Jonathan and Jess. Willa is back where she came from and can’t come here anymore.”

“Willa was the one who put me here?” Jessica asked. “I remember her face before everything went dark.”

I nodded.

“Yes,” I answered.

She looked over at my mother who was now tending to Ronnie’s bracelet.

“And your mom…?” Jessica asked; her eyebrows raising.

“She saved us all,” I told her.

Ronnie broke into a toothy smile as the bracelet shattered around her wrist and the chain fell to the ground around her feet. Ronnie hugged my mom and was instantly comforted in the warmth of my mother’s white aura.

“She’s beautiful,” Jessica breathed.

“Yeah, she is,” I agreed.

I turned back to Jessica.

“How do you feel? Are you able to walk?” I asked her.

“I think so,” Jessica said, she began getting out of bed.

Spencer was by her side quickly.

“I’ll help,” he told her; her cheeks and nose turned a light pink color.

“Thank you, “she said to him gently.

Naomi and my mother were waiting for me by the doorway of the bunker. They both looked a bit sad, but I knew it wasn’t because anything more was going to happen. It was because the red moon was coming to an end, and they needed to leave.

I was beginning to feel sad as well.

“We have to go,” Naomi said, confirming my thoughts.

I nodded slowly as I ran over to my mom. She wrapped her arms around me and pulled me close to her chest. I was hit with the gentle scent of her perfume, and I soaked in her warmth and comfort.

“I’m going to miss you so much,” I breathed, as tears fell from my eyes.

“As I said before, I’m always watching you,” she whispered against my ear.

She glanced up to look at everyone around the room; her eyes landed on Spencer.

“I’m watching all of you,” she said softly for everyone to hear. Spencer stared down at his feet sheepish. I’m sure he was never expecting to actually meet the woman who came to him in his dreams. It was because of my mother that he made it to Moon-Valley in the first place. She smiled at him. “I’m glad you made it home.”

He looked up at her, surprised by her words.

“You’re going to find more family here than you could ever imagine,” she told him as she glanced over at Jessica and then at Ronnie who looked confused.

She looked back at me with such love and compassion in her eyes.

“I love you my little bug,” she said gently as she kissed my forehead.

“I love you,” I told her between tears.

After a few moments, we finally let one another go. She gave us one last look and then her glow overcame her. With one flash of her aura, she was gone. Naomi glanced around at all of us with a smile on her face as well.

“Thank you for all your help,” I told her.

She nodded her response to me. Her glow soon overcame her and with one flash of her aura, she was gone too. Leaving us all there misty-eyed and in awe of what had just happened.

I cleared my throat and turned to my friends and family, trying to recover myself.

“Let’s go home.”
