An Affair With My Ex -
Chapter 56
Abby's POV.
"Hhhmmmuhhh!!" I gasped forcefully, coming back to life because of the sound I heard from outside.
"Abby? God damnit!! Abby??? What the hell are you doing on the floor? Why are you on the floor this silly patient?!"
I heard Albert's voice yell out at the sight of me on the ground. From the way he kept calling me a silly patient and running towards my direction, I bet he was obviously blaming me for lying on the floor without his permission. "Why the f**k dis you lea e your room to come here? Are you insane?" He bellowed angrily, seeing the state I was in.
"And ... how come no one knew she wasn't in her room? Where the hell is Nurse Nora? She was supposed to monitor the up room patients!! Where is she?" He asked, looking around for a nurse.
"We... we don't know, Doctor!" The rest of the nurses with him responded with a low voice.
I had blacked out a few minutes ago but suddenly, I felt a touch on my chest and I came back to my consciousness, only to find Albert running down to where I was.
I bet the heavens wouldn't want me to lose my child, Alex's child.
"Shit!!!" He exclaimed angrily.
"What the hell are you waiting for?? Get her up from the floor!! We need to look at how she's feeling!" Albert ordered and from both sides, I felt different staff hands grabbing mine and helping me up to my feet.
As I was about to get up from the floor, I felt it again. I felt a sharp pain that most Married ladies or pregnant ladies experienced when the baby was coming.
"Ahhhhh!! Holy fuck!!" I screamed on top of my voice as I stood at a spot and had to move an inch backwards.
I felt so much pain and taking me into the room for a check up wasn't going to work that way and that moment.
I needed help more than the normal daily check ups from the nurses.
"What is wrong with you Abby? what is going on with you?" Albert frantically walked over to my front as he questioned.
He had a serious stare on his face and the way he looked at me kind of increased the pain I felt.
"Ahhhh.... No.. no... no!!" I cried out as I looked at him into his eyes with pain.
"Can't you move? Is it your waist? Are you......" he was going to say when suddenly, he looked down at my feet and froze in silence.
"What is it Albert?" I asked, seeing his dead reaction.
I turned my eyes to my legs too and that was when I realized that my baby's water had broken...
"Does this mean...." I looked up at Albert with a panicking voice.
"The baby is coming!! Take her into the delivery room now!!" Albert commanded with a loud voice as he watched the nurses do their work. "But.. but it's not yet time Albert.. it's.. ahhh" the sharp pain became so severe that I just couldn't help but scream out my pain.
"Don't say any more words Abby, just focus on giving birth to a healthy baby!" He placed his hand on my shoulder before my ride arrived.
I was immediately placed on a bed and was dragged into the delivery room just as Doctor Albert had ordered them to do.
I can't believe I was going to give birth to the baby, I can't believe I was going to have a prematured baby just as Jack had asserted.
I kept on sobbing, not because of the pain I felt but because of my baby in my womb.
"Let's start now!! Get the clothes and the instruments!!" Albert ordered his subordinates the minute he stepped his foot into the delivery room.
I was immediately covered with the cloth from my waist, down to my knee length. I was also asked and required to open my legs so the Virgina would be seen and it would enable the child to come out smoothly.
I turned to my left and then my right and to be sincere, I was scared. Scared that I would lose my baby, scared that I will be in pain for the rest of my life because of the instruments close to me.
Albert came closer to my tummy and with his hand placed on it, he sensed the child's movement.
He immediately took his hand off which made me scared. He turned to look at me with a stunned look on his face.
"Is anything the matter doctor? Please... please just tell me! We could kill it you know!" I pleaded as I felt more pain knowing I wasn't going to be happy like other ladies.
"Shut up Abby! Just follow whatever I'm about to tell you, okay?" Albert urged without any hint of humour on his face.
I nodded my head in agreement to what he was saying knowing that he was the boss here and not me.
He was about to turn to go make me push when suddenly, I got a strong grip of his coat which drew his attention back to me.
"You are delaying Me Abby! What do you want?" He questioned with a panicking look.
"Please.... Please!" I sniffled as I felt tears rolling down my eyes for my baby.
"Please save.. please save my baby!!" I stuttered as I begged him.
My baby was the only being I had left of Alex. My baby was the only one who could make me know that Alex is really beside me. "Just stay calm and do as I say okay? Your baby will be fine, I assure you that!" Albert smiled as he made such assurance to me.
I wondered why but I just couldn't ask him because the pain was becoming unbearable.
I was going to give birth when I was just 32 weeks pregnant, it was really scary.
"We need to check if her pelvic is open and ready to help the child out!!" Albert mentioned as they did their necessary check ups. Soon, they were done assessing my ability to deliver the child through the right path and it was time to progress to the next stage. "Let's go!!" He ordered this time making me realise that it was time to push the baby out.
"Push!!!!!" He commanded with sweats all over his face.
"Aaahhh!!!" I screamed so loud as to be able to push out my baby from my tummy.
With my hands clenched on the bed sheet which I was laying on and my heart beating faster and rapidly, I pushed out my baby without looking back.
I couldn't let Jack or Kate the evil witch win this time. I was going to make it out of the delivery room with my child no matter what.
After a few minutes of pushing and crying and also yelling on top of my voice, I heard a baby's voice in the room, I heard a baby cry in the room.
Everyone had begun to smile at me and it made me realise that my fight to get my child wasn't in vain.
"You made it ma'am!" A nurse that was close to my right hand side whispered as she tapped me on my shoulder as to say Weldon Abby.
I kept on Panting knowing the kind of stress I had just undergone because of the baby which Albert held in his hand.
"Is it... is it a boy or...." I was going to ask when suddenly, I felt weaker than ever.
My eyes began to close bit by bit, my head had already shut down and I couldn't even see or tell what was happening around me anymore. "Ma'am!!! Are you okay? Are you...." I went blank without responding to their questions.
