Anything For You
Chapter 100

"Coming... wait a bit, there." Akhim's voice echoed in the whole of the Inn where they all had been staying since two days now. He was sitting with Egon having some herbal tea, talking about the events happened with Egon at EVANORA's place. Of course, Egon told him everything, skipping the part that the couple was a snake-hybrids. He didn't want Akhim to get into any kind of trouble. They were just having a good chat after one whole day, when they heard someone knocking over the door. When on asking, Akhim didn't get any response and instead a loud knocking sound once again, he shouted from inside to the person outside to wait, as he was just approaching the door.

"Who are....!" His words got struck in the deepest segment of his throat and only air was coming out, when he looked at the person standing in front of him. It was none other than Estella and her state was so poor, and pathetic. Tears lines were clearly visible over her once angelic face turning it into a horrible one now. She was in the same state as Egon was one day ago. Before he could understand anything, she stepped inside and closed the door with a faint thud, as if all her energy had been sucked out.

She was walking like a corpse. On taking a few more steps, her gaze landed over Egon, who had been sitting soundly and silently, sipping his tea, with a blank look in his eyes, which anyone could say was a guilty and saddened one. She spared him a sad look, and their eyes met the same instant, sending shivers down to their spines. It was a moment, when they both were heartbroken, in pain and mourning over their loved one. Nobody said anything, and then averted their eyes. Egon, because he was guilty for his father's actions which lead to her parents' demise, and Estella because she wasn't able to erase the memory of that king who killed her parents and Egon looked just like him.

She wiped the tears forming in her eyes and immediately paced towards. Her room. Stepping inside, she closed the door with a loud thud, sending to the message to the men outside, that she wanted to be alone and so they should not disturb her. Akhim was able to comprehend, what would have happened there to make her land in that state and sighed his head helplessly. Only God knows what these kids were going through.

He left everything to time, because no matter what time is a great healer. If it wounds you, it heals you too. Again, he took his position besides Egon who continued sipping his tea without paying any attention to anything else. Akhim was now confused, as to how to put up the topic. But still, he collected his courage and cleared his throat. Getting no response from Egon, he again did the same thing, and this time he succeeded in having his ears. Egon kept the tea cup over the woodden table, and looked over his face, asking him the matter, with his raised eyebrows, as if he was giving him the most tired expressions, to which Akhim answered,

"Your Majesty, I..."

But he was cut in the middle when Egon raised his hand in the air and gestured him to stop talking, taking him off guard, saying, "Akhim, I had told you so many times to address me as Egon, and not Your Majesty. Then..?!"

"I... I understand that, but right now, I am not talking to Egon. I am talking to my king, so, I would address you as Your Majesty only."

Egon nodded understanding that it must be something important which needs his attention, or else Akhim would never disobey him. And gestured him to continue, while again pouring some more tea. Akhim sighed helplessly, watching him drink the tea like alcohol.

"Your Majesty, I believe that whatever reason of our voyage was, had been dealt with utmost priority. Now that everything is clear, and you have found about the late king's death's real reason, I think....(took a pause to observe Egon's expressions).... We should head back to the kingdom. I mean, I understand that you have your personal matters of concern, but we can't neglect that fact you are also a king, and the kingdom won't be able to sustain for long without its king.

Moreover, it's been more than two months since we are out of there. And our soldiers never made it up to here. If we head back now, only then we would be able to reach in the next 45 days. So, I suggest that we should leave as soon as possible."

Hearing his request, Egon just nodded slightly, not making any comments and responding at all. He was still not in the state to go back to his homeland and face the people of his kingdom, who all loved his late father. How would he be facing his dead mother, and his ancestors! All these thoughts kept on reverberating in his mind, messing up the already calm and clear mind. He hauled up immediately, and went to his room with larger strides, leaving the even more confused Akhim there all alone.

"Your Majesty, how should I tell you this! I don't feel good about it. I think, you should stay away from that witch lady, Evanora. She seems to be harmless, but she clearly is up to something." He said to himself in a manner as if talking to Egon. Standing up from his position with his both hands held at his back, he approached the nearby plants in the balcony and gazed across the village with his narrowed eyes, mumbling,

"Your Majesty, I..."

But he was cut in the middle when Egon raised his hand in the air and gestured him to stop talking, taking him off guard, saying,

"I feel like, Everything is way more calmer than I needs to be. First you, Then Estella, and now Valor. Evanora! I wish to find out what you exactly want to do, but how!! You are clearly a clever lady, I must say. But, I will definitely find something. I feel it's the calmness before a huge Strom. Egon, dear, I just want you all to be safe and sound."

Looking up at the sky, he smiled faintly with guilty filled eyes,

"I am sorry my friend. I was not a good friend. I couldn't know what bothered you in your last days. But.. I promise to not let anything happen to your son, as long as I am alive."

"I don't have any doubts in that, my friend." Akhim was startled at once and his hand automatically trailer towards his sword tucked in his waist, ready to attack at the intruder, but when he turned, he was left beyond surprised and shocked, and only gasped in an inaudible voice, "My friend!"

The owner of the voice was none other than, his late friend and Egon's father, the late king. He was not here in flesh and blood. It was his soul. Akhim confirmed this when he passed his hands over his body. The king chuckled and said,

"Don't blame yourself. You had been more than great. I know Egon won't be having any hard times until you are with him. I just feel bad, that because of me, he had to go through all these. And, I want to apologize to those souls too, whom I had hurt. Who know, they might have children too. I made a terrible mistake, Akhim. But nothing can't be done now."

With his moistened eyes, he looked up at the sky and said,

"Now, I can rest peacefully. But before I go, tell Egon that I am very proud of him. And his mother loves him a lot. And if he ever found anyone related to that couple, just apologize to them on my behalf. I wish I had more time to do this on my own, Akhim. And ... you have been a great general too."

Saying those words, his soul disappeared in the thin air and a light flicker went upwards merging with the sky. Akhim looked at the light and said,

"May you live peacefully, My king. I will always be there for Egon."
