Anything For You -
Chapter 73
"What's your name, lady?"
It had been years since someone had asked for her name. She had forgotten about people talking and enjoying each other's company. The love, care and warmth all these had long been snatched away from her leaving her empty and alone ending up in this cursed
area.
"Estella"
Her voice came out as a mere whisper, but it was loud enough for the young king to hear, and his lips formed into a sweet smile. Everything about the lady was so strange, her living area, this cave, the dead snake all these were screaming danger or something more, but her soothing voice dominated above all and worked as an enchantment, as a spell which bounded the young king.
Looking over his King getting drowned in that girl's appearance, Akhim coughed lightly, marking his presence to be noted and to draw the duo's attention. Only he knew how badly he wanted this young lad to get married and settled in his life, but God only knows why he had always been lingering on going to the other end of this barren area.
In the past, he never got success in doing so. But this time, he had the fullest authority since he had taken over the throne, completely showing his worth. So, Akhim and anyone else had no rights to stop him this time. How many times did he ask the reasons for travelling that far away, but he always just shrugged his shoulders, telling Akhim that he was curious about the people living in such area.
Nobody can question the king. This was a law in their kingdom. So, Akhim complied to it. Many women were presented to the young lad, but he never had spared a single glance to any of them, let alone touch them. Then why this girl had so much effect on him!! All these thoughts were going on in his mind, when Akhim heard the girl touch his arms to get a hold of his empty earthen bowl.
The moment lasted for a split second, but he saw the late king with a woman whose face wasn't clear at all. He could only see her forest green eyes which were way too different from the queen's and threateningly similar to this girl present ahead of him. He wanted to question her about this but then dropped the idea as it could be dangerous as the girl who could control weather, could even do more things.
"Estella, why do you live alone here? Where are your parents and family?"
No matter how much Akhim was avoiding to get entangled with that girl, the young lad was pushing himself into her and her affairs asking about her family.
"They are no more. I am alone, the last survivor of my lineage." Her soothing voice was not cracked and tear drops were clearly seen in her forest green eyes while her flat eyebrows were now drooping downwards as if she was very sad over the mention of her long- lost family.
Patting her shoulders, The young king tried to pacify her only to notice that she felt comfortable now unlike the first time and didn't barge on him for invading into her private space.
"I lost my father too when I was a young boy. But, my mother is still with me. I am sorry for your loss, Estella."
He felt calm and relaxed uttering her name softly and somehow her company was all he had desired to share his worries and sorrows with. Not giving her any further chance to tear up more, he proposed an offer.
"From now onwards, you won't be alone. I will be with you. I mean we can be friends since you helped us both in this time of need, I want to pay you back.
What say....!!"
Even though he was asking her permission, still in his heart he badly wanted her to be with him so that she would be able to live her life happily and not in grief.
"Ok. But for that you need to tell me your name too." She agreed to his proposal. In all those years of loneliness, he was the one who wished to be her friend, the others were always interested in her body and not her emotions. The moment that man backed off his steps respecting her warning tone, she knew she could trust him, and now she was taking a chance.
He chuckled softly while rubbing his nose with his fingers. This gesture by him was enough for Akhim to know that this young man was getting nervous. If this lady could make him settle his anxious heart, he had no objections. "Egon"
Just as he told her his name, a sweet smile crept over her rosy lips making him sane but Akhim wondered why he didn't tell her his full name!!!
"Your Maje..." Akhim was cut in the middle of his talk by the Young king introducing him to the lady ahead.
"And. He is my friend, Akhim."
The duo didn't look like some ordinary people, rather some sort of warriors. She was contemplating things when he just added another set of words. "We came from the nearby kingdom in search of any people living here so that we could help them."
She at once stepped back which made the duo confused. Narrowing her gaze, she moved her rosy lips, shooting the most unexpected question... "Who sent you here?"
The man couldn't decipher her dazed expressions and just noticed the tinge of fear lying beneath under charismatic eyes.
"The king sent us here. He wants to find any living ones and help them settle again in the kingdom. This land seems to be totally barren."
She looked convinced with his answers and had some more questions which she had been framing in the back of her mind.
"In this whole area, you won't find an animal let alone a human and that too living. Only I am the one surviving, thanks to this cave. But yes, there are people on the other side of this land, and they also need help from the king. If you have no problem, I can help you to get there."
Hearing her out, Egon smiled widely enough for her to notice and avert her gaze from his always charming personality while Akhim was just peeking at the two people sitting over the same stone table nearly glued to his spot contemplating the events happening here. "If that's the case, I would be happy to help them. We have a spare horse, you can ride it.
And I would appreciate it if you would also join us on our way back to the kingdom for you are also a human and that too living."
She didn't want to respond to the request which Egon just made for she was all safe and sound here, besides it was her motherland. How could she leave here. But then another thought made her drop the idea and accept his request. Maybe this was the only way for her to find out what had happened in the past.
She nodded in a yes and again started to arrange the things over tiny holes in the walls of caves which looked like they had been used as shelves to keep things. Collecting the pieces of shattered earthen bowls, she headed towards the fire and dropped the pieces into that fire only to step back because of its intensity after receiving the offering.
This seemed to be a normal thing to both the men and their eyes failed to notice the sudden change in the color of fire which she did successfully and was now even more certain to assist them on that voyage.
"You both must be tired. You can rest in the other side for the night, and we will set out when the weather clears."
She handed them both two shawls to cover their bodies in case they felt cold at night and arranged a place for them to rest.
After making sure that both the men had slept, she took out a bead from her necklace which had been kept hidden from everyone underneath her clothes and approached the dead snake over the uplifted area. Sitting down respectfully in front of that dead creature, she closed her eyes and crushed the beads with her hands while covering that dead snake with its powder.
Within a moment, the dead body of the snake disappeared from that place and was replaced by only sand and dust. "You will be safe till I come back. And if I never made it back, I will free you.
Bless me."
And just then her forest green eyes changed color only to shift back to its normal color.
She was all set to seek the answers to her questions which had been restraining her in the shackles of endless pain and loneliness.
-DESTINY LAND-
"She is a super cool sister. That Estella lady is damn cool. Did you ... did you just see what she had done...!! She isn't an ordinary human. Do you know about her??"
Choice kept on pestering Destiny for a moment and not finding her responding back, she faked tears only to get a scolding from her ...
"Just sit properly and witness everything or else, I will ground you in your room and seal your powers."
'Hell ..!! You are a dictator, sister.' Murmuring to herself, she sat down calmly because it was the only option she was left with now.
