Blake:

I smiled when I heard my wife’s footsteps as she approached my room.

She knocked the door twice making me smile “come in”

She walked inside the room to look me in the eye and shake her head when she saw me waiting for her. Food was already placed on the table which I had the maids prepare for us “come on, let’s eat while the food’s hot at least”

“You do realize that you could have left the room and walked to the dining room, right?” Natalia asked looking at the table while crossing her arms over her chest. She looked around the room which the maids have fixed up in the past few hours as to be comfortable for me to stay in while I healed. The fact that I had to stay here didn’t mean that I needed to stay here with it being a disaster.

“Yes, but that would have meant having dinner with the whole pack, and that wasn’t the intention of all of this” I said pulling her chair back for her to come and sit. However, she quickly put her hand over mine not wanting me to do it “you’re still injured, you need to rest”

“Don’t worry about me, the chairs aren’t heavy anyway” I whispered. Her eyes met mine and I found myself getting lost in them for a second before she cleared her throat snapping me out of my sudden daze. Using wind, she pushed back my chair making me chuckle and go sit on it after she sat on hers “I could have pulled this chair out too”

“And risk you having that against me as something that I owe you? No, no, no. I would rather pay my debts early”

“Ha, ha, very amusing, princess”

“You know, this is a side of you that I never expected to see” she said raising an amused eyebrow “but I can’t say that I don’t like it”

“I guess I needed time to understand your value, I’m glad that you didn’t reject my invitation” I said making her smile. The two of us started eating a minute later, and I couldn’t help but feel guilty for insulting her the way I did before. Seeing as that she was willing to give me a chance to try and fix things, I didn’t want to screw things.

“How was work today?” I asked making conversation. I could hear Natalia’s calm heartbeat, and that fact alone was enough to satisfy me and my wolf seeing as she was calm around me.

“I didn’t stay there for long, but I didn’t have much to do. I already the investment plans ready and sorted, and the investors who I took interest in have responded, so, I guess everything went on track so far” she said and I nodded. I knew that her company was one of music, clothes, and shoes. When they first told me about her, I was impressed that she could run and manage everything so casually at her young age, and at first, I believed that the company was initially her father’s. I learned later that she was the one who founded the whole thing.

“What are you going to do about work though? You can’t go to the office being in this state, and I believe that with Ryan…”

“Mason was my CEO there. Ryan took care of things in the pack. But I’m guessing that I’m going to need to find myself a new beta” I said and Natalia nodded.

“You know, you can always forgive him. One mistake shouldn’t demote him from his position, and since the two of us are starting fresh, the man didn’t expect you to want to see me around you” Natalia said trying to defend him. I smiled at her and shook my head appreciating her beautiful heart.

“He disrespected his Alpha’s wife. Regardless of our relationship, the pack members aren’t allowed to interfere with it. If he does that now, other members would be doing worse, and I can’t risk that” I explained and Natalia nodded.

“At least don’t remove whatever privileges he may have. I’m guessing that he has been by your side for a long time, he believed to know what you would have wanted and what you wouldn’t have. He believed that you wouldn’t want to see me around you when you first woke up” Natalia said and I nodded making her smile.

“Don’t worry, princess, him being home means that I haven’t kicked him out of the pack. Yes, I am demoting and punishing him, but I won’t be banishing him from the pack. The man is still one of my closest mates, and he has been there for me when I was alone. I wouldn’t go ahead forgetting that” I said softly. Natalia nodded and took a sip of her wine.

“You know, it’s a very bad idea to give me alcohol…”

“Is that so?” I asked in teasing manner. I raised an eyebrow at her a devious idea popped in my head.

“Yes, I have a psycho that hides behind my sober state, just a warning”

I laughed and watched as she took another sip before getting up and pouring her another glass making her raise an eyebrow “well then, I am curious to meet this psycho”

“You are going to end up regretting this, I’m just warning you” Ares warned, though I could tell that he too was curious about what our mate would be doing when drunk.

“I’ll take that as a challenge”

Music blasted in the room as Natalia danced on top of my bed. She sang to the beat only to hop down come toward me, using wind, she pushed my chair back and got on top of me. My eyes widening when she straddled my lap, right over my hardening c**k.

“I told you that this was a bad idea” she whispered in my ear. Her hot breath hitting my neck making me shudder. My breath was caught in my throat as she grinded against me once before getting up. I had to fight my wolf as not to tempt me more than she already was. The fact that she seemed a lot more appealing in this state made things a lot harder on me not to mark her as my own.

She took off the sweater she was wearing when she walked here staying in her sport bra and loose sweat pants. She swayed her h**s with the music and grabbed the wine bottle drinking the wine through the bottle as she jumped. Yeah, I regretted getting her drunk in the first place.

“Are you regretting your decision yet? Because it seems like your boner could be seen a mile away” Ares said in my head, mimicking Natalia whose breath still made goosebumps rise all over my body. Not to mention that my b***d was suddenly focused in ONE place making it harder for me to focus.

“Shut up, you’ve been trying to get me to mark her for the past hour”

“Well, it seems like we both want to, at least I don’t lie about it, not that you can hide it anyway”

“Natalia, love, I think that’s enough drinking” I said wrapping my arms around Natalia from the back. She shuddered feeling the mating bond before her body took over her actions. The fact that she was my mate made her act the way that she was despite her not knowing that she was. She grinded against my c**k making my breath get caught in my throat, however, I didn’t have it in me to pull away. Her movements slow and appealing, tempting me to claim her.

“Nat, love, I think I need to get you to bed” I whispered in her ear. She turned around in my arms and wrapped hers around my neck, the wine bottle was still in her hand as she did and I smiled pulling away from her to take the bottle “come on, let’s get you in bed”

“You know, my sober state would be very angry in the morning” Natalia said wide eyed. She covered her mouth with her hands making me laugh at her childish behavior.

“Would she now?” I asked in a teasing manner.

“Yes, she would. But you promise you won’t tell her, right? I won’t open my mouth if you don’t” I laughed at her words and nodded “you’re still injured, and you shouldn’t be holding too much weight”

“You’re not heavy, princess, I doubt that you eat to begin with” I ran my fingers over her small waist making her giggle as I tickled her.

“I do eat, I think… actually I don’t know if sober me does eat. She brings food, and coffee, but usually settles for coffee” Natalia explained making me frown in confusion.

“What do you mean?”

“She doesn’t like eating alone, so, we live of coffee”

“But I thought sh- you said that you eat at work?” I asked looking Natalia in the eye. She smiled and laid her head on my chest as she hugged me.

“Your heartbeat is comforting”

“She’s feeling the mating bond”

“While being drunk” I said answering Ares. I wrapped my arms around Natalia who seemed to melt in my embrace before kissing the crown of her head as her words sunk in my mind. Have I really affected her that much?

“I want to sleep”

“How about you sleep here tonight?” I asked softly. Natalia nodded and despite the ache in my arm, I carried her and took her to bed, softly laying her head on the pillow. I got in bed beside her, thankful that they had changed the hospital bed to a twin bed, before watching her relaxed expression “you know, your sober-self is going to hate the two of us when you wake up”

“Meh, she always hates me and keeps me hidden from all eyes” Natalia teased making me chuckle. I leaned down and kissed her forehead while running my fingers through her hair, I watched as she dozed off with a smile on my face.

“That went well” Ares said casually.

“Yes, we didn’t end up claiming her”

“We could have though”

“Shut up, Ares, just shut up…”
