Avenging The Triplet Alphas -
Chapter 12
Loki's POV
"I'm glad you didn't turn us down." Loki smiled and I could see him sigh in relief as he placed his hands on my shoulders giving me a reassuring squeeze.
"Have you spoken to your father yet?" I asked, worried about what he would say. Xander Van Tyson was the most influential wolf alive and no one dared cross him for fear of ending up dead.
I knew he desired power and influence above and I couldn't help but wonder what he would think about the next Alphas in the line of succession claiming a lowly ranked omega wolf as mate. "You have nothing to be worried about. We know how to handle our father, leave him to us." Jonathan said and I shrugged.
All I had to do was wait, they would probably get bored of this game soon enough and I would go back to living my regular life, waiting for the day I would be finally able to make it out of his hell-hole and start a new life for myself somewhere else. "If you don't mind, I need to get to school right now," I said, stepping out to the front porch and slamming my door shut. "I'll see you guys at school."
"That's the second reason why we came here," Jonathan started. "You can't be seen walking down the streets anymore."
I gave each of them a perplexed look as my gaze roamed amongst the trio.
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"It means you'll be riding with us to school from now henceforth," Loki smiled. "We thought about getting you a Porsche but we figured we would make more of a statement if we arrived at school together every day." "But-"
"Aren't you fed up on being picked on, Arielle?" Elijah cut me short, a frown on his face. "We claimed you as our mate yesterday and it's only customary that we live up to that standard by doing things together from now henceforth."
"I know, I'm sorry. It's all happening way too fast for me to process any of it, I just need a moment to take it all in. You know?"
I was hoping they would understand me. If someone had predicted this is how my life would've turned out 24 hours ago, I would've laughed my heart out but here we are.
"I'm sorry it seems like we're dumping this whole thing on you but you'll get the hang of it eventually, the first days of fame are pretty much the hardest part," Loki answered, his brothers nodding in unison.
They knew better than I did and despite my initial reluctance, a small part of me was thrilled over the prospect of having them as my mate. I've been struggling to contain my wolf's excitement since I opened the front door and I was fervently hoping they wouldn't smell how giddy I was internally.
"Okay, I concede," I answered, shrugging my shoulders. They led the way to the limousine waiting out in front. The chauffeur opened the door immediately we approached the car and we all made our way inside.
My life was about to take an unexpected turn and I couldn't do anything about it other than bracing myself up to enjoy the ride.
The ride to school was short and thankfully, they had let me remain in silence as I thought of the different ways how everyone would react to seeing us step out of the car together. They were a class above me, so we wouldn't be staying together much to my relief. I wasn't sure I'd be able to survive if I had to share a clas.
The car pulled up to a stop in the parking lot and I took several deep breaths trying to calm myself as I rubbed my clammy palms down my dress.
"Are you ready to go out there?"
I couldn't figure out who asked me the question as my eyes were still closed, trying to banish my insecurities from taking over me.
"Hey, look at me."
I shuddered before I opened my eyes to see Jonathan staring at me with worried and compassion intertwined in his blue eyes, his hands were on mine trying to calm me down.
"You'll be fine, they're not going to hurt you anymore from now on."
"You promise?" I asked in a shaky tone.
"I promise," He answered, squeezing my hands lightly and offering me comfort. "We all promise."
I offered him a small smile and nodded. "Let's get it over and done with."
The door was opened from the outside by the chauffeur and we made our way out of the car.
There was a small gathering waiting outside the car already. I could hear the clicks of the cameras and the chorus of voices as the noise began to grow louder.
I clutched onto Jonathan's arm as we walked towards the main entrance, the crowd following from behind. I couldn't make out anything anyone was yelling at us, as the cacophony of sounds was difficult to decipher. Jonathan bent to whisper something in my ear but I couldn't make out the words.
The crowd was gaining in numbers as we made our way into the hallway. I looked up at their faces, they seemed nonchalant about the attention they were attracting, it was as if they had gotten used to being the main attraction at the center of everything. Loki wasn't wrong after all, it gets easier to live in the spotlight after a while.
My breath hitched in my throat as soon as I saw Melissa storming towards us, accompanied by the popular kids in school, the same ones who often bullied me at the slightest provocation.
I didn't realize that I was clutching onto Jonathan's arm with a death grip until he patted my hand, forcing me to look at him.
"Breath Arielle, she's not going to hurt you." He assured me as we all came to a stop Melissa and her contingent stood a few meters away from us.
"So it isn't a ruse, Loki?" Melissa scoffed, I could sense the restrained anger in her voice. "I thought it was a ploy to stop the others from bullying her but apparently, the joke has carried on till today, hasn't it?"
"What are you talking about, Melissa?" Loki replied in a bored tone, his face stoic.
A few days ago, the triplets were inseparable with Melissa acting as their second skin. She was often touted as the chosen Luna to the Van Tyson triplets but they chose me. I wondered if I would become expendable to them after a while.
"Don't you dare act nonchalant, Loki! You know exactly what I mean. What's that mutt doing in my place?" Melissa shrieked, unable to maintain her composure any longer.
"What mutt?" Loki remained unfazed. "The last time I checked, I walked in here with my brothers and our mate."
A collective gasp emanated from the crowd behind me.
"Tell me this is a joke, tell me you don't mean any of this." Melissa's lower lip trembled as her eyes were brimming with tears.
I hadn't seen her this fazed over anything before. She was the school's queen who got everything she wanted, her father was a prominent figure in the werewolf community, the Beta to Xavier Van Tyson, and a merger between both families was no secret to anyone especially not to the parties involved right now. She had grown up groomed to be the Luna to the Alpha triplets when the time came and now, she was watching her dream turn into a nightmare.
I felt satisfaction course through my veins seeing her in pain. She had brought me so much humiliation in the past and her cohorts had aided her in making high school a place of trauma for me.
I wasn't completely sold on the idea of being a mate to the Van Tyson triplets but I was pleased to get one over her for the first time in my life.
"The heart wants who the heart chooses." Loki began. "We've spent our lives together and yet, you haven't given us the spark Arielle has. You don't expect us to spend our lives with someone we haven't claimed yet, our union was founded on materialistic principles and strengthening political powers between the powers that be."
"That's not true, Loki," Melissa yelled the tears were streaming down her face now. "You can't leave me, none of you can."
"Your mate is out there waiting for you, it's just not going to be the Van Tyson triplets."
"What can she offer you three that I can't?" Melissa turned her scorching gaze toward me. "You bitch-"
"Careful now, Melissa." Elijah cut her short instantly, his tone was low and menacing. He was sounding extremely protective of me. "I enjoy you but be careful with your next words. She's not to be tampered with, do you hear me?"
Melissa couldn't believe her ears, she opened her mouth to speak but she was silenced.
"I believe I asked you a question, Melissa. Do you hear me?"
"Yes."
