Bedmates Soulmates
CHAPTER 376

"It's a pity, though.' Elsie smiled wistfully. 'If Young Master had gotten married back then, there could've been Junior Masters running around the house now. Miss Connelly was pretty. Young Master is handsome. I bet their kids would look like little cherubs. Seeing the look on Kira's face, Elsie cleared her throat and immediately changed the topic. 'But that's all in the past. Anyway, there's nothing for you to be worried about. You're the winner."

Kira blinked, "What do you mean?"

'You're Mrs McCarthy, not Deborah. You're alive; Deborah passed away. You share a bed with Young Master; Deborah did not. So, you WITL!

"It's not a contest,' Kira wanted to say.

But she held back

Instead, she asked, 'Elsie, why are you siding with me? Didn't you like Deborah?"

Elsie scrunched up her nose. 'I used to, but not anymore. No one likes a cheater."

left the restroom and almost

bumped into a man coming out of a private room.

He smiled when he recognised who it was.

"Small world. I didn't expect to run into you here, Liam'

Liam shared the sentiment. 'I didn't know you're in Stamford."

He glanced over Gideon's shoulders. 'You're here alone?"

'No, but I am free at t

the moment."

Liam tilted his head towards the private room. "How about lunch?".

"Sure.'

After Liam was driven out of Stamford by Austyn, he had used any and all means necessary to survive and then to claw his way to the top.

In the process, he'd made his fair share of enemies.

Chief among them were members of the Garner family.

After Gideon took over control of the family, he looked for Liam, but the man managed to give him the slip every time.

Meeting at the restaurant was a bolt out of the blue for both of them.

Liam, playing host, ordered food.

Then he asked, 'Are you here for a short visit or a long stay?"

'Are you worried that I'll be a threat to you?" Gideon leaned back in his chair, tapping a finger on the tablecloth.

Charles stood behind Liam, unobtrusive but attentive.

ime, you

"Not really." Liam flashed a smile at his guest, unconcerned. "This is Stamford, not Curlana. Before you make a move on n should think about the consequences." Gideon curled his lip. "You speak as if you own Stamford City."

"I don't, but the man who does happens to share DNA with me. Liam smirked. 'Besides, I grew up here and am familiar with the local terrain. If there's anything you need, I'm more than happy to offer my services." Liam paused when the waiter came in with their order. Think about it.'

Gideon would not come to Stamford for no rea

reason

There must be something he wanted.

Liam was curious to find out what it was.

Besides, if Gideon took him up on the offer, he'd have to forget about settling old scores and leave him alone, at least for the time being.

Gideon narrowed his eyes.

He knew what the man was planning, but he had to agree that Liam had a point.

Stamford was not his city, he might need help.

But he didn't have to work with Liam

Austyn still owed him a favour.

A quiet knock came on the door before it was pushed open.

Martin entered.

He gave a curt nod to Liam before bending down next to Gideon, whispering in his car. "Young Master, I have reached out to Miss Hewitt's friend!

'Did you stick to the script?"

'Yes, I told Miss Mills that I'm Miss Hewitt's old acquaintance from Milton. I wanted to track down Miss Hewitt but couldn't find her in Stamford. So I asked Miss Mills to arrange a meeting for us.' 'And?

'Miss Mills was scop

was sceptical. She refused to contact Miss Hewitt for me. Nor did she agree to meet me herself

'You're a stranger to her,' Gideon said. "It's only natural for her to be wary."

In A Small World

After a pause, he said, "Call Miss Mills again. Make up an excuse. Or offer her money. Make sure she agrees to a meet.'

"Yes, Young Master."

Martin was about to leave the room when Liam spoke up. 'Wait.'

Martin stopped and turned back 'Mr Cane, do you have something to say?

Liam had stayed with the Garner family for a while back then.

Martin recognised the young man, whom he regarded as a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Liam wore an enigmatic smile. 'If I heard you correctly, you were talking about a Miss Hewitt?"

Martin looked to Gideon, who nodded.

So Martin said, 'Yes. Young Master has been looking for Miss Hewitt for many years."

"May I ask why?"

Martin was reluctant to answer, but Gideon didn't seem to object.

'She's Young Master's beloved."

Liam cocked an eyebrow

His smile broadened into a grin.

Beloved?

"This Miss Hewitt wouldn't happen to be studying at Stamford University, would she?' Liam said. 'And she comes from a small town in the southwest. Am I right?! Both Gideon and Martin were staring at him.

'How do you know all this?"

'Oh, I know more than just her school and her hometown Liam smirked. "I know her full name is Kira Hewitt, for example."

Gideon shot out of his chair. 'You know her?'

"Uh-huh."

'How?"

'Call it kismet."

"Where is she now?"

Liam pointed to Gideon's chair. 'Relax. Take a seat."

Gideon knew the man was just playing games, but Liam had the upper hand now, so Gideon sat down

"There is some bad blood between me and the Garner family,' Liam said. 'But you and I have no beef. I will tell you what you want to know, but I'll need something from you in retum.' Gideon, expecting this, said simply, 'Go on."

"In exchange for Kira's information, you'll forget about everything that happened between me and your family. Let bygones be bygones. What do you say?!

"That depends on what information you have to offer."

'I can assure you it's absolutely worth it.'

Liam sensed Gideon was on the verge of saying yes, so he moved in for the kill.

'The intel I give you will lead you straight to her. You can see her in under an hour if you drive fast enough. And you don't have to go through her friend, who may or may not agree to meet you." Liam steepled his fingers and looked straight at Gideon. "So, what do you say? Do we have a deal?'

Gideon fixed his gaze on Liam.

After a while, he broke into a smile. 'You're right. There's no personal beef between you and me. I don't have to give you a hard time when you have something I want. It's a deal."

Liam returned the smile. 'T'm glad we're on the same page. You're a decisive man, Mr Garner.

"Enough with the pleasantries. Tell me, where is Kira?"

"You got a pen?" Liam directed the question at Martin, who offered him a black fountain pen

Liam scribbled something on a serviette and handed it to Gideon. This is the address of Stamford General You'll see Kira there."

Gideon frowned. 'How about her home address?"

Liam shrugged. "Sorry, I don't have that information, but you're sure to find her at the hospital.

iti

Gideon checked the address, carefully folded the serviette and put it in his left breast pocket.

He pushed back the chair and stood up. 'In that case, I should get going."

'Good luck!

Gideon left with Martin

Liam toyed with his Hasselback tomato caprese

Charles closed the door. 'Young Master, why did you give him Miss Hewitt's info?"

Liam had not given up on getting close to Kira

Gideon would be an unnecessary complication, especially when the man had his own designs on Kira.

'It's a trade. I give him the info he wants, he leaves me alone.'

"Then shouldn't you have told him everything? Let him know that Miss Hewitt has married Austyn McCarthy. Better yet, give him Austyn's home address. Won't that make Gideon beholden to you?' Liam chuckled and shook his head at the same time. Charles, it's a good thing you don't gamble. If you show your entire hand the moment the game begins, you're going to lose the shirt off your back' Charles tried to process his young master's words. 'So you're playing the long game.'

Liam just smiled and said nothing

The Garner family was a problem he didn't need at the moment, so the trade was worth it just to get Gideon to call off the dogs.

But that didn't mean he had to play the trump card right out of the gate.

"The food here is awful.' Liam tossed the fork back onto the plate. 'But coming here today has been worth it. Tsk-tsk, Gideon Garner and Kira Hewitt, who would've thought?"

His eyes glinted with anticipation 'The game's getting more interesting!

He wondered what Gideon would think once he knew Kira was a married woman now.

Martin drove.
