Martin lett the ward and went in the direction Kira had disappeared.

Gideon was disappointed, though not surprised.

Kai knocked on the door of the ensuite bathroom.

No one was inside.

He scanned the room.

Mr Hewitt was lying peacefully in bed.

Kal did not see Kira's bag

'Strange," he said to himself..

Boss had lit a fire under him, ordering him to rush over to the hospital.

He said Kira was waiting.

Kat had to forgo dinner.

But where was his passenger?

Kai went to Doctor Morrison's office downstairs.

It was empty

He called Kira's number.

She didn't pick up.

The ringtone just went on and on until the telco company got impatient and cut off the call. "Hmm. Kat scratched his head.

"Boss," he called Austyn on the phone. "Young Madam isn't here. And she's not answering her phone' "Did you check the doctor's office?"

"I did. She wasn't there.

Austyn hung up

Kai shrugged, used to his boss' caprices.

He went in search of the cafeteria

In his office, Austyn dialled Kara's number.

He got the ringtone

"What's she doing? Austyn thought, aggravated

He told her Kai would be there to pick her up in twenty minutes.

Where had the ruin off to?

Was she doing this deliberately just to piss him off?

Austyn stabbed a finger at his phone, pulling up Kai's number.

"Call her," he said when Kai picked up. 'Keep trying her number till she answers.

Basement Level 2, Stamford General Hospital.

Charles was indignant as he followed Llam towards the lift.

Their footsteps echoed in the deserted underground carpark.

'Old Master McCarthy is too cruel,' he grumbled. 'He flogged you so hard, even the doctor was shocked by your injuries. The doc said they might leave permanent scars.' Charles was beside himself.

"How could Master McCarthy do this to you? You are his son, just like Austyn. This is so unfair!

Liam shot his assistant a look

Charles clammed up.

He kept his head down and walked on silently, almost bumping into Liam's back when his young master stopped abruptly. 'What's wrong?"

Liam tilted his head, gazing at a spot ahead of him. "Look what I found-a stray."

Charles followed Liam's line of sight and saw a figure hunched over on the staircase landing.
