Chapter 125 Crisis and Turning Point

As the manager of the Caesar Group, Yvonne had always been careful to maintain her image in public.

However, tonight, she found herself in an awkward situation.

Standing before her was Benson, a man who not only understood

human nature but also knew how to exploit weaknesses at critical moments.

At that moment, the two stood at the entrance of a brightly lit banquet hall, the sparkling chandeliers and the murmuring crowd forming a stark contrast.

Yvonne’s thin eyebrows were slightly furrowed, and her lips were

tightly pressed together, despite her efforts to remain calm. Her eyes couldn’t help but scan the surroundings for familiar faces or sudden camera flashes.

Benson leaned casually against the doorframe, one hand lightly

resting on his waist, the other casually holding Yvonne’s wrist. He could feel the faint tremor coming from her, knowing that his tactics had unsettled her.

When he noticed someone approaching, he let go of her wrist just in time.

Although the gesture was casual, the mocking smile and the glint of triumph in his eyes made Yvonne’s anger flare.

She quickly took two steps back, creating distance between herself and Benson, crossing her arms over her chest, her gaze sharp as an ice blade.

“The watch you called your brother for is with me,” Benson said leisurely, his voice low, each word deliberately drawn out to

emphasize his control over the situation.

Even in anger, Yvonne’s response maintained her grace perfectly.

“You really have nothing else up your sleeve,” she said calmly, though her tone carried obvious sarcasm and a. ain, adding tension to the atmosphere.

Benson wasn’t swayed by Yvonne’s anger; instead, he grew more

pleased with himself. “It’s called a one–hit kill!” he said with a hint of pride in his voice, his eyes shining with a cunning light, like a winner of a high–stakes game.

Yvonne didn’t want to back down, staring back at him with clear eyes full of stubbornness and defiance, challenging Benson’s authority.

Benson’s phone rang. After sending a quick message, he said, Yvonne, take it or leave it. I think my offer is quite generous and cooperative.”

His tone carried a hint of impatience and resignation. Meanwhile, Mary, frustrated by the “brother–sister” act, dragged Bella along with her.

It wouldn’t be long before the media reported it, aiming to revive Bella’s popularity.

Yvonne, now using him as a tool, had become increasingly adept at it.

“Mrs. Benson, don’t push your luck. If I don’t cooperate, I can ruin your plan completely,” he said, his eyes devoid of humor, replaced by a chilling malice and oppression.

“Benson, you’re just using your resources to keep me from getting the Eurasia Jewelry endorsement, aren’t you?” Yvonne’s voice was

steady, each word clear and firm.

“I don’t need the endorsement, but don’t think you can use it to threaten her.”

Benson chuckled, tilting his head to look at Bella. “Miss Bella, you’re really clueless. Ever since I got you to endorse Caesar, she’s been helping you plan to revive your career as quickly as possible. If you keep refusing endorsements and roles, do you think she wants to see you fail at Caesar?”

Bella opened her mouth but didn’t know what to say, looking at

Yvonne with a mixture of helplessness and guilt, as if blaming herself for not doing better.

“I’ll wait for you, but stop scaring her,” Yvonne comforted Bella, telling her to stay calm and perform normally.

Her voice carried a touch of warmth and reassurance, as if saying. everything would be okay.

Finally compromising, Benson’s expression softened slightly. He and Bella got into the elevator, while Yvonne headed to her car. Just as she reached it, she heard the hurried voice of Mary’s assistant

approaching.

“Miss Yvonne! Wait a moment!”

“Miss Yvonne, Mary wants to talk to you.”

The assistant’s voice carried a subtle plea, seemingly trying to make amends for the impending unpleasantness.

But with those words came an invisible sense of helplessness, as if foreshadowing future troubles.

“I don’t want to talk,” Yvonne responded quickly and coldly, her tone firm in her refusal.

To her, Mary was merely playing insignificant tricks again, nothing

new.

Without waiting for the assistant to speak again, Yvonne got into her black sedan, closing the door softly, cutting off all external

disturbances.

She leaned back in the soft seat, waiting for her driver, Benson, to return. Yet her mind didn’t calm down in the solitude. Instead, Mary’s unknown intentions intertwined more deeply in her thoughts.

She closed her eyes, trying to think of an ultimate strategy, a way to resolve all issues once and for all. However, before her plan could take shape, a knock on the window interrupted her thoughts.

Opening her eyes, she saw Mary standing outside, her face a mix of urgency and hope for understanding. Yvonne’s brows furrowed slightly, but she eventually pressed the button to lower the window.

As the glass descended, fresh air filled with the warmth of late summer and a moment of silence flowed into the car.

Their gazes met, and a hint of coldness and vigilance flashed in Yvonne’s eyes, as if reminding Mary that any inappropriate move

would face her firm resistance.

Mary, sitting in a wheelchair, rolled closer to Yvonne. Her eyes were slightly red, as if she had just wiped away tears, her face showing a forced smile that appeared rather sad and helpless.

“Miss Yvonne, what will it take for you to let me and Benson be?” Mary’s voice trembled slightly, her hands clasped together tightly, her knuckles turning white from the force.

Yvonne was stunned by the sudden request, her gaze fixed on Mary’s frail but trembling figure, complex emotions sweeping through her heart.

She knew about the entanglement between Mary and Benson but never thought she would be directly drawn into it.

“Isn’t it Benson who doesn’t want a divorce?” Yvonne asked softly, trying to uncover the truth.

Leaning against the car, she looked through the window as the only sunlight shone on Mary’s face, revealing her pa and helpless

expression.

“But he said… he hasn’t touched you at all.” Yvonne’s tone carried doubt, observing Mary’s reaction, feeling a bit of sympathy.

Mary’s pupils contracted slightly, a hint of panic flashed in her eyes. but quickly returned to calm.

An indescribable emotion flickered in her eyes, soon covered by a forced smile.

“Can

you believe a man’s words?” Mary tried to use humor to dissolve the awkwardness, pulling a reluctant smile, but the hint of slyness and unease in her eyes became more apparent.

Yvonne couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow, deciding to apply more pressure. “You can’t trust a man’s words, but a body doesn’t lie, right?” Her voice was challenging, her gaze sharp, as if trying to pierce through Mary’s heart.

After a moment of silence, an expression of excitement and anger appeared on Mary’s face.

She suddenly slapped the armrest of the wheelchair forcefully, making a clanging sound.

“Why are you so smug, Yvonne? Once he finds that person, he’ll kick you out. He only likes your body; that person is his true love.”
