Chapter 129 Mary’s Scheme

As Yvonne got off the plane, her phone’s battery was running low.

She quickly found her power bank to plug it in, but it Il didn’t have enough charge for a long call.

Exiting the gate, she immediately saw George waving at her.

Dragging her suitcase, Yvonne walked over to George, smiling, “Why are you here?”

George gave a small smile and replied, “Your husband asked me to pick you up. I also have something to report to you.”

‘Assistant George coming to report work to me, that’s quite an

honor!” Yvonne said with a smile, though she felt a bit puzzled and worried.

As they walked together towards the parking lot, Yvonne sensed something different about George today.

Once in the car, George picked up a file from the seat beside him and handed it to her.

Yvonne took the file, flipping through it curiously.

The first page was filled with names, and she frowned, “What is this…”

“When we were at the hospital, Mr. Benson and I arrived first. Mary mentioned Uncle John’s matter and said there was a list… You were asking about it at the time, and your tone was understandably harsh,” George explained, his tone serious and cautious.

Yvonne recalled the events at the hospital, feeling a complex mix of emotions.

So, there was such a backstory.

She continued flipping through the file, which detailed each person’s name and situation.

“I personally investigated the list, asked around, and there are detailed recordings for those who can’t come forward. Those who can speak have done so… If you want to pursue legal action, they can

cooperate. They were all once supported by Mr. Jr and don’t want his reputation tarnished after his death,” George’s voice was low and firm.

Yvonne’s nose tingled, filled with gratitude and pride. She knew her father couldn’t have done those things.

“I wanted to tell you immediately, but finding these people and investigating took time. Instead of explaining back then, it’s better to give you some assurance now,” George continued, his eyes reflecting a hint of comfort.

Yvonne read through each person’s detailed description,

understanding how things happened.

The file mentioned these people had minor flaws in their work and. were heavily bribed to participate in the slander. Seeing these details, Yvonne’s heart was full of mixed emotions.

There was also a page listing her father’s various donations and the students he supported, both male and female. Some didn’t even know they were funded by her father.

Proud of her father, Yvonne was also relieved she had always firmly believed in him without a shred of doubt.

After a long while, Yvonne spoke, “Thank you for your hard work on this.”

George smiled slightly, nodding in understanding.

“If Mom knew about this, she would be happy too,” Yvonne

murmured, filled with hope.

As the car entered the highway, George’s phone rang.

He glanced at the caller ID and handed the phone to Yvonne, “It’s Mr. Benson.”

Yvonne took the phone and answered, “Hello?

“You need to go home first,” Benson’s voice came through, low and calm.

“What’s wrong?” Yvonne felt instantly nervous.

“Just go home, I’m at your house waiting for you.”

Benson didn’t say much more, which made Yvonne even more anxious.

She immediately called Susan to understand the situation.

“Yvonne, don’t worry, it’s just… your mom suddenly fainted. Mr. Benson brought a family doctor, checked her, and gave her a shot. She’s sleeping now,” Susan’s voice carried a hint of comfort, but Yvonne was still very anxious.

Forty minutes later, the car finally reached the front of her house.

Yvonne hurried inside. Susan saw her, eyes red, holding her hand, almost in tears.

“Go on in.”

In the living room, Benson was talking with the doctor, Bella stood with her arms crossed by the sofa.

To Yvonne’s surprise, Mary was also in her house.

“Miss Yvonne, you’re back.”

Mary started crying as soon as she saw Yvonne.

“I’m really sorry, I just came to apologize and thank you. I didn’t know this would happen.”

Mary’s innocent act was very convincing.

If Yvonne didn’t know her true nature, she might have lieved her.

Yvonne first checked on her mother, who was fine, just stressed.

Susan quietly explained, “You couldn’t be reached on the plane, your mother fainted, and I had no choice but to call Bella. Bella came and saw Mary here, saying she was apologizing and thanking you, and she couldn’t be driven away, so she had Benson come over.”

Susan went to the kitchen, made something for Yvonne, and explained the whole situation.

Yvonne was trembling with anger, forcing herself to calm down, “Did she really say that?”

“Yes, she said those vile things, and mentioned setting a fire. Hannah was so shocked she fainted…” Susan’s voice was filled with anger and helplessness.

“After seeing Hannah faint, Mary even smiled proudly. But then she just sat there, acting innocent.”

Hearing this, Yvonne clenched her fists, her anger almost uncontrollable.

She took a deep breath, forcing herself to calm down.

She knew that acting out now would only anger Benson and cause conflict between them.

Mary’s presence here was clearly to provoke a fight between her and

Benson.

Yvonne took another deep breath, calming herself down.

She slowly unclenched her fists, reminding herself: patience is key.

Yvonne walked out of the kitchen, her face calm, smiling at Mary, though she wanted to tear her apart.

“Miss Mary, we understand your intentions. It’s getting late, shall I arrange for a driver to take you home?

Benson heard her, his gaze falling lightly on her. After a long moment, he spoke slowly, “I’ll take her.”

Yvonne’s heart tightened, but she remained calm, “Okay.”

Bella wanted to explode, but Yvonne held her back.

Yvonne knew it wasn’t the time to clash with Mary. She had to stay calm to find a solution.

Benson put on his coat, personally pushing Mary’s wheelchair.

Yvonne watched as he pushed Mary through the courtyard, their figures gradually disappearing.

“Is he… insane?” Bella’s face was pale with anger.

Benson pushed Mary out of Yvonne’s villa complex.

Mary had a smug smile on her face. This alone time was sweet and joyful for her.

“Mr. Benson, you’re so good to me,” Mary said softly, her voice full of sweetness.

Benson chuckled lowly, a hint of coldness in his eyes, “I think so too. I’ve always been patient with women.”

Mary was secretly pleased, feeling fulfilled and expectant.

She thought Benson’s attitude towards her seemed to be softening, maybe she still had a chance
