I could feel Riley’s eyes on me, wherever I went.

The wolves in the pack talked about their Luna like she was the direct descendant of the moon goddess or something. I could see how much they loved her and admired her. But whenever I subtly changed the conversation to talk about their Alpha, who was the only one I wanted to talk about…

“Lies, you love hearing about her. Riley. Her name tastes as sweet as her c*m would be. I want my mouth on her.”

I shuddered, my body tightening in response to my Lycan’s words. He smacked his lips together.

She looked like a siren in that dress, and I wanted to rip it away from her body. The dress was a deep, dark seductive red and the dip in the neckline… illegal. Her breasts were so f*****g delectable. The dress was stitched over her body. It had a long slit that played peek-a-boo with her soft looking thighs and her long legs. “I don’t trust that woman. She said her mate cheated on her and now she is standing next to him, smiling and wearing that dress.”

I could see some of the male wolves had their eyes on her, especially on her tempting body and I hated it. I wanted to be the only one to look at her like that.

“Are you angry she was standing next to him or wearing that dress?” Karl asked with a smirk. My Lycan was my own f*****g enemy. No, I didn’t need to have enemies on the outside. I carried one on the inside.

“So, yes… you love your Luna. What about your Alpha?” Adrian asked the she-wolf who was hanging on his shoulder, pulling me out of my head. The she-wolf gave him a look and quickly looked around and then smiled at him, but her smile didn’t reach her eyes. She looked nervous.

“Our Alpha is- do you know, our Luna built a house for the kids who are underage, and who didn’t have anyone to take care of them. She is amazing. There were ten kids in the house, and they were all so small. Our Luna love spending time with them.”

They just wouldn’t talk about the Alpha, as if they had nothing good to talk about him. From the reports Adrian and I had collected, I understood why. Maybe they didn’t exactly know who he was, but they knew something.

“And our Beta helped,” another woman said as she grabbed on to my arms. I had half a mind to swipe her hand away, but I didn’t. I needed to be friendly.

They loved the Luna, they respected the beta, but… no one talked about the Alpha. They feared him. My suspicions were getting stronger. Maybe he really was the man we were looking for for years.

I looked up and saw that Riley was glaring at me, her eyes shooting daggers as she took a sip of her champagne. Her plump lips were painted a deep red and I wanted those lips on me, on my c*ck.

I wanted her just like last night, both helpless and powerful, all at once. My c*ck throbbed in pleasure and need.

I wanted to grab her hair in my hand and pull her down to her knees until she worshipped me with her mouth and her tongue. I gulped as I saw her looking right at me. My heart fluttered.

What the hell was it about this woman that made me feel things I had never felt after Feyona? Feyona was years ago, but after she destroyed my trust, and our chosen bond, I had lived without a woman, until… this woman. She came and sat on my table, and talked her way into my freaking bed.

“Yeah right, it is all HER!” Karl scoffed. “She somehow weasled into your bed and handcuffed you to your bed.”

“Why are you being so- so annoying, Karl?”

“Because I can.”

I ignored the wolf as I looked at the other annoying creature. She narrowed her eyes at me and her eyes were pointedly on the hand on my shoulder. I smiled a bit inside.

My heart raced as my eyes stalked her every move. I had a feeling she was thinking the same thing I was thinking. I could read her eyes, somehow. I licked my lips, remembering how good she tasted, smelled, and her eyes widened as if she knew what exactly I was thinking, and before I could push the woman hanging on to me away, and walk to Riley and do something stupid, like kissing her in the middle of a big f*cking ball, she moved away from the crowd and went upstairs.

Thank the Goddess.

I looked at Adrian after a while, and we both excused from the women who were still talking, and walked away from them.

“So? Did you also notice that they barely talk about their Alpha?” Adrian mind-linked me and I nodded. Even though we were not from the same pack, we had a special kind of mind-link, as we worked under my father. Sometimes, it was easier to mind-link than actually talk, especially in front of the wolves.

“Yes, I did. They keep talking about their Luna, though.”

Adrian winked. “Oh, I saw how you looked at her. She looks sexy, damn. Do you want to rip her dress the second time too?”

My best friend was an i***t.

“No, I didn’t want that,” I snapped, my voice coming out in a frustrated growl. Adrian’s eyes narrowed.

“Do not talk out loud, you grumpy fool. Mind-link.”

“s**t, I didn’t even realize I said that out loud. Okay, so I totally knew he was the one we were looking for. The a*****e is good though. He looks he is not- smart, and maybe that is how he had stayed hidden for all these years,” I said to Adrian, making sure I didn’t growl out loud or anything. I didn’t want anyone to hear us.

“Maybe, or maybe you just want Riley all to yourslef,” Adrian said. “But I want her all to myself, too.”

I bared my teeth at him and he shrugged, looking careless.

“You can have her,” I grunted, but my voice sounded more like a growl than anything.

“That is a lie,” he said as he looked at Hiran, who was now talking with his beta. They both looked like they were arguing about something.

“The beta, it is the Alpha’s brother, right?” I asked and Adrian nodded.

“Yes, and they look like they want to tear each other apart.”

“This pack is trouble. Everyone in this pack is trouble.”

“Especially the Luna, isn’t she?” Adrian mind-linked back with a cheeky grin.

“You know what, stop spouting nonsense and go mingle. Try to make someone talk. Go…” I grunted and Adrian nodded and before long, he was surrounded by women.

I sighed as I grabbed a glass of whiskey and gulped it down as I started to wonder where Riley went. Every part in my body wanted to go look for her, but I knew it was stupid.

I saw the Beta growl and stomp away and Alpha Hiran was alone. I needed to gain his trust, and I had to talk to him for that. I didn’t want to talk with that sleazy, slimy bastard, but I had to.

I gritted my teeth and walked next to him. He gave me an glib smile.

“Alpha Hiran, this is an amazing ball.”

“Thank you. My Luna planned everything.”

I imagined grabbing him by his hair and slamming his head against the wall until his skull broke. I took in a deep breath and calmed myself down. “She really did a good job. You are lucky.”

His face twisted for a brief second and then he nodded and smiled.

“I really am.”

I walked inside the bathroom in my room. I had a seperate room, where I had all my things. I usually only slept in Hiran’s room, and sometimes when Dee stayed in the pack house, she used this room.

I quickly ripped the panties. My body trembled when I washed myself.

I wished I could just strip down and stand under the cold shower right now, but I knew I could not. I walked to my room and let the cold air of air conditioner blast me in my face. It still wasn’t good enough.

I was startled when someone knocked. “Who is it?”

“Riley?”

“Reid?”

I pulled the door open.

“I am sorry, Riley, but I saw you leaving the party and I just wanted to check on you.”

“Why are you so concerned now? You weren’t when you knew he was cheating on me. I had to go through the pain of his betrayal and no one said anything to me. Not even you. You- I considered you my best friend, next to Dee and Keller. But of course, I am not very surprised, not after what Keller did to me. You would choose your brother. Who the f**k am I to you? You wouldn’t even have known me if it wasn’t for Hiran.”

He just stood there, silent, looking at his fingers. The amount of guilt rolling off of him… I could smell it. Smell his regret and remorse, but no, I didn’t want it now.

“It is not like that, Riley. You know that. You are – I would do anything for you. I would die for you.”

I shook my head. “I didn’t need you to die for me. I only needed you to be honest, and you weren’t. Go back to the party, Reid.”

“Will you ever forgive me for this? I wanted to tell you. I- I didn’t know how to, Riley. I didn’t. I only knew recently and-”

“I loved your brother, Reid, and I loved you like you were my own brother. I loved everyone in this pack, but now… no. Just no,” I said as I motioned him to leave.

“You know I love you, too, Riley. You are the sister I never had. You know I love you more than my own brother. I will prove it to you. I will kill him for you.”

“Stop.” I growled and he did. “Don’t do anything stupid.”

“I will do it, too, because you have to believe me. I wanted to tell you, everyday, I just- I was going to tell you, but I don’t-”

I sighed. “Let’s talk later, Reid. I just want to be alone right now.”

He gave me a sad look before he walked out of the room. I walked to the small terrace on the second floor and leaned against the railing as I looked down. The pack ground was also decorated with lights and people were moving out, too. Some were making out behind the trees, under the silver moon, and some were simply holding each other, looking so in love.

Everything looked beautiful, and usually it would have made me content, but I just didn’t feel anything now.

Love was a f*****g lie, anyway.

“It only gives you heartbreak,” I whispered to myself. “And pain. f**k love.”

“True,” a voice said too close to me.

I whirled around and almost stumbled. Roman’s arm went around my back, pulling me up and keeping me steady.

“What are you doing here now?”

“You keep asking me the same questions, kitten.” His voice was a low growl. “I want to ask the same questions to you, too.”

“Are you finally done entertaining the she-wolves? They looked like they want to be tied to bed and taken by you.”

“Are you jealous, Riley?”
