Nathan parked the car in silence, then stepped out of the driver’s seat and walked around to the passenger side, gently opening the door for Lucinda.

He leaned down and lifted her out of the car with care.

Lucinda embraced Nathan, her arms encircling his neck, and playfully inquired, “You’re quite the gracious host tonight.

Are you in the mood to savor a bit of me?”

Nathan suppressed a laugh.

“Well, until your concussion is fully healed, I won’t be bringing up the idea of savoring you anymore.

Your well-being comes first in all our fun and games.

“You are being quite restrained today.

” Lucinda gave Nathan a skeptical glance.

“Honey, it’s not like you to be uninterested in savoring a bit of me.

Lucinda leaned closer to Nathan’s ear, her alluring and gentle voice tempting him.

“You know, I’m nearly back to my old self.

She let go of his tie, neatly arranging it back into Nathan’s collar, and nestled herself in his arms, allowing him to carry her inside.

Once inside, Nathan placed Lucinda on the sofa and arranged snacks and fruits for her.

“I’ve got everything ready for dinner.

The main course needs a quick cook.

Please, stay seated and don’t wander off, alright?”

Lucinda nodded, sensing that something was amiss with Nathan.

Deep inside Lucinda’s heart, a strange tremor began to stir.

With thoughts of the little ones on the fourth floor, Lucinda attempted to slip away quietly for playtime while Nathan was occupied in the kitchen.

Yet, she swung open the nursery door and saw an empty crib.

There was no sign of the babies or Zenia anywhere in sight.

A sudden rush of panic surged through her, and she ran down the stairs and into the kitchen, terror gripping her heart.

“Honey, Colby, and Destinee are gone.

Something must have happened!”
