Billionaire's Betrayal: My Ex Beg Me To Love Him Again -
Chapter 0042
Chapter 0042
William's POV:
I should have been grateful to hear about Caroline, but I was only filled with annoyance. I shouldn't have been as concerned as I was about her situation, nor about who was taking care of her, but my mind kept coming back to her.
So, while Sophia was still coming down from her distress, I leisurely drove to the hospital to check up on Caroline. I strolled in to see her, but when I stopped by the door, I was surprised to find it was partially open. My hearing picked up two people speaking back and forth, interspersed with light laughter.
Brimming with curiosity, I peeked through the crack of the door, and I could hardly believe
my eyes.
A man was bent over Caroline's hospital bed, embracing her, while rose petals surrounded the luxurious hospital bed.
My anger hit its peak and I burst through the door. "Caroline!" I scolded. "Are you seriously flirting with another man? Even in the hospital? Are you that shameless"
Caroline was newly divorced and free to date other men, so I shouldn't have been as enraged as I was. And yet, when I saw that man on top of her, I felt only anger and bitterness. I stormed over and pulled the man off of her, and sure enough, I saw Martin's irritating face. Martin angrily shoved me off, fixing me with glare. I almost snapped at him, but Caroline interrupted me. "William! What are you doing here?" she yelled, looking furious to see me.
Her sudden anger shocked me. I could still remember how she had always been so docile and compliant with me, where she had never once raised. Now it was as if I was the very last person she wanted to see.
I accusingly pointed a finger at Martin, yelling, "You told me you didn't fall in love with him. Explain that then!"
"That's none of your business," she replied, clenching her fists. "Why are you still bothering me?" Just as I was about to scathingly retort, she turned to face Martin with an exhausted sigh. "Martin, I'm sorry. Can you give us a few minutes?" she asked. Her voice was so soft compared to how she spoke with me.
Martin looked between us, his eyes landing on me bitterly as he did so. "Alright, I'll go, he hurts you, just call for me. I'll be right there, okay?"
"Okay. Thank you, Martin."
but if
He paused, gave me a dangerous warning look, and then left the room without another word.
Caroline turned her callous gaze onto me again, visibly brimming with rage. "What's the matter with you?" she nearly yelled. "Why are you like this?"

I felt myself become overwhelmed with anger, but I was rendered speechless by how fearlessly they fought back.
"You're sick," I said outright, finding my voice. When did that happen? What's wrong with you?"
Caroline crossed her arms, resistance in her eyes, "I don't know what you're talking about," she huffed.
"Caroline, I found blood on my carpet," I replied, leaving no room for denial. "I know it's yours. What's going on with you?"
Shock flitted over her features for a moment as she looked unsure of what to say. She hesitated to speak the truth, but eventually, she nodded her head. "Okay, yes. I was sick, but it was just some bleeding in my stomach. Are you satisfied now?"
A sigh of relief left my lips. Some bleeding in the stomach wasn't that bad, because that was thankfully curable. I had disdain for the tone she took with me, though. Why couldn't she see that I was caring for her?
"Satisfied?" I scoffed. "I'm not as ruthless as you make me out to be, Caroline. You should be thankful I actually care about your condition so much."
Caroline looked utterly offended by my generous concern. "Appreciative? I never wanted you to care in the first place!"
"What? Then what do you want from me, then?" I demanded, finding her words completely
absurd.
Her gaze was utterly scathing. "I want you to leave me alone! Now get out of my hospital room!"
Shocked by her demanding tone, I was left without words. Finally, I managed, "I actually invested my time and care into you, and this is how you treat me? Don't come crying to me for help in the future!" With that, I begrudgingly followed her request and marched out of the
room.
I leaned against the wall just outside to catch my breath, exhausted. Curiously enough, I could hear two doctors whispering to one another from afar.
"Doctor Martin is having us put tons of resources into helping the patient," one said.
His colleague groaned frustratedly. "Hasn't anyone told him how hard it is to handle gastric cancer?" he sighed, sounding thoroughly annoyed.
His friend replied with a lazy shrug. "We tried, but any cases of a successful surgery are really
but hard to find, especially with how bad she has it. Martin wants us to find a better way, honestly, I don't know if there is one.
I listened to their conversation with increasing alarm. They were talking about stomach

cancer, weren't they? Were they referring to Caro
