Billionaire's Betrayal: My Ex Beg Me To Love Him Again -
Chapter 0051
Chapter 0051
Caroline's POV:
My world was spinning out of control. I could feel myself fading in and out of consciousness as it felt like my whole body was on fire. I couldn't even muster up the strength to flush the toilet and wash away all that blood.
I didn't fight William when he carefully lifted me into his arms and ran out of the room with me. My body was ablaze with pain to where I was blocking out the world around me.
With the blood in the toilet, there was no hiding the disease ravaging my body. Laden was a smart man who would be able to tell that throwing up such an obscene amount of blood was a sign of something much more dire than just common stomach irritation. Now laid out on the bed, I endeavored to fall into blissful sleep. I would need plenty of rest when I had to face William's ensuing anger. I let my eyes slip shut, freely ignoring all of William's panicked shouting so that I could rest peacefully. Another dream came to me, but this time, everything was perfect.
In this perfect world, I had never married William. I had never fallen so deeply in love with him, and so I never suffered his betrayal
I also finally became what I've always wanted: a loving mother to a beautiful baby boy. He grew to be a healthy, curious young infant named Daniel. He had such lovely rosy cheeks and a giggle that could melt hearts, I loved him unconditionally.
To my jubilation, my father was perfectly fine. His beloved company never went bankrupt, not was he accused of the financial crimes he was completely innocent of. Instead, he was a perfectly happy man, working on his business with a smile on his face. I suffered no heartbreak and no stomach cancer. I was just a woman with her baby, loved by her family. It was a simple life, but it was my utopia.
Unfortunately, my perfect utopia couldn't last forever. Eventually I had to return to the nightmare that was the real world.
I opened my bleary eyes, staring up at the blank white ceiling with apathy plaguing my soul. I looked over, fully expecting an angered William to be there, telling me off, but instead it was Laden, calmly looking through his notes.
The doctor pulled himself away from his many complex charts when he realized that I was awake. "Oh, Caroline! Glad to see you're back with us in the real world."
I cracked a false smile. "Unfortunately," I murmured, watching him frown in response. Where's William?"
"In the other room," he replied smoothly. "For now it's just you and me."
"Good," I sighed, relieved I wouldn't have to deal with William's overwhelming attitude at the

moment.
I didn't know Laden all too well, but I was wary of him. He was one of William's best friends, but outside of the occasional casual conversation, we had barely even talked. He seemed like a relatively good man, but my trust was limited.
"Your fever completely wrecked your immune system, Caroline," he told me, his voice gentle compared to William's harsh tones. How could two people so different be such good friends?
"But I'll be alright, right?" I asked, gauging what he knew about sickness.
my
Laden silently scrutinized me before he let out a heavy sigh. "Listen, Caroline. I know you have a serious illness."
My heart sank at the sound of that, and I was too speechless to interrupt.
"When your report came out," he explained, "I hadn't had time to check it myself. I had an emergency surgery at the time, but your blood cell count was far too abnormal to be something as simple as irritation in the stomach. I know what you're going through." My confusion shone through the cracks. "You do?"
Laden's cast me an odd look. "I do. Caroline, I think you might be suffering from cancer. Didn't William tell you that?"
My lips were parted with dead words as I just sat there in surprise. Of course I knew I had cancer, but the fact that Laden knew, too, confused me. That could only mean that somewhere between Laden printing the report and William receiving it, someone had cleverly switched it out with a fake. "No. No, he didn't." The doctor's expression became gravely serious. "You need to go in for further medical examinations."
I adamantly shook my head before he even finished his sentence. "No. I'll be fine," I argued. "I don't need any more medical examinations."
Laden let his confusion show. "Why not? We can diagnose you and get you the proper treatment you need. I'm sure William will be more than happy to-"
"No!" I snapped, not wanting to hear anymore. "William isn't going to do anything for me and that's final."
A sorrowful expression spread across Laden's face. "Caroline, if you have a serious illness, you need to-"
An enraged voice broke out from the doorway.
"Laden! What are you talking about?"
