Billionaire's Betrayal: My Ex Beg Me To Love Him Again -
Chapter 0053
Chapter 0053
Caroline's POV:
I stared at William disbelievingly, his words ringing in my ears. They were said with such vitriol that one would think I was his worst enemy.
William's behavior was as to be expected: a kind and generous man one second, but when he doesn't get what he wants, he explodes in a ball of rage. He fought tooth and nail to keep me in his apartment for a week, only to selfishly turn his back on his own sense of hospitality. I felt burned by his cruelty.
This man had callously betrayed our marriage for a dishonest woman. He never trusted me even for a second, even though I was endlessly faithful to him for nearly two years. Even today, the thought of hurting him made me sick, and yet he falsely accused me of stringing him along just for sympathy.
William rescinding my stay in cold blood was just another spit in the face in a long line of insults. After so much of his hellish behavior, I was numb to his actions now.
"You're acting like that's some sort of punishment," I coldly snapped, my expression angry and defiant. "You know damn well that I didn't even want to stay with you!"
William opened his mouth for a scathing retort, but was at a loss for what to say. Instead, he gave me a hate-filled look and marched out without a word. I watched with scorn tinting my gaze, hoping he could feel my anger.
He probably needed to return to see beloved Sophia, who would no doubt spin some fanciful lie just to gain his sympathy. It was honestly hilarious how he believed every illusory word that came out of her lying mouth.
Yet at the same time, he never believed a single thing I said, despite the past years we had spent together. He thought of me as a cheat and a fraudster, and yet the real deceiver was in his own home.
All I wanted to do was go back to my (now William's) luxurious apartment, pack my things, and leave with a slam of the door.
My first instinct was to see my father, but William's trustworthiness was doubtful. He had told me that I would be able to see my father, but would he go back on his word again? "I wouldn't put it past him," I muttered softly to myself, venom dripping from my words.
After another grueling hour of getting delicately checked by the medical staff, I was more than ready to leap up and leave. Just before I could make my escape, Laden swiftly entered the room, backed by William's faithful assistant, James. While James bore a neutral face, I could see a spark of fondness flicker behind Laden's eyes.
"Laden, James," I greeted hesitantly. "A surprise seeing you two here." They were good men, but they were still loyal friends of William, so I had to be cautious around them. I could never

know how one of William's little friends could react if I said the wrong thing. "Why are you here?"
"I'm just checking in to see how you're doing," Laden casually replied, a soft smile gracing his face. "I heard about William really chewing you out. That must not have been easy."
The sigh I let out was tired and weary. "It was awful."
Laden came over to place a caring hand on my shoulder in a poor attempt at comfort. "I know he's not the easiest to deal with."
"He's a nightmare," I spitefully retorted. "The moment he gets even a little angry, he flies off the handle."
Remorse crossed over Laden's face, as though he was regretful for his best friend's thoughtless actions. "He's a nice guy beneath it all."
I giggled humorlessly, not believing that fat lie for even a second. He'd shown his true, ugly colors by bringing a pregnant Sophia back to the villa, and since then, his actions had been nothing but callous and cruel. "I used to think so, too," I sighed wistfully. "Then reality kicked in."
Fixing Laden with a grave look, I added, "By the way, I think your hospital might have a mole. The test results weren't exactly what William wanted to see."
Laden's eyes widened to the size of dinner plates. "A mole?" he shouted, anger tainting his features. "I'll get it checked out right away. If someone is tainting these results, there's going to be Hell to pay."
The doctor's fiery response shocked me, but there was comfort in knowing he truly cared about his work. Thoughtfully looking over at James, I asked, "What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be with William?"
"I'm actually here to give you a safe ride home, Miss West," he replied, his voice unbearably stiff yet overwhelmingly polite. "I already have your bag packed in the back of the vehicle. If you would like, I can give you the address to your father's location. William told me to give it to you if you asked."
A bitter smile marred my tired face. With every bizarre action on William's part, I grew more and more puzzled by his motives. First he was cruelly kicking me out of his apartment, and now he was giving me safe passage back home and access to my father? I wouldn't deny this generosity, but I grew so very tired of William's games.
After an uneventful trip home, I lethargically put my things away and sat down for a rest. Once I had sufficiently recovered from my fever, checking on my father was my top priority. I carefully followed the instructions given and arrived at the private sanatorium where William had selfishly hoarded my own father.
Stoically, I entered the building and politely requested to see Thomas West. With a bored nod and a lazy wave of her hand, the front desk worker guided me deeper into the building. As we

Just before they vanished through the double doors, I got a fleeting glimpse of the man on the gurney. It was my father!
