Livia, in Grade 4, seemed to be seven or eight years old.

Collin suddenly remembered something and said to Livia, "They told me that the teacher has taken a leave of absence."

"Yes, she is also my mother," Livia answered.

"Your mother?" Collin asked. He was surprised at first but also thought it reasonable. "Why didn't you stay home to take care of her?" Collin asked.

"She often says that students shouldn't skip classes even if teachers don't come," Livia said solemnly.

Collin suddenly laughed out and said, "Your mother is strict!" Collin thought for a long time but could only remember how Davin described Livia's mother.

As Livia turned around and was about to leave, Collin thought of the dumb person. "Why didn't your uncle come here with you? He doesn't need to pay for my treatment," Collin asked.

"He was too stubborn. Anyway, he is an adult, and he can make the decision by himself," Livia answered. Although Livia was still young, she talked like an adult.

Collin was speechless.

Davin blew his horn as if it was the school bell. Every day, Davin blew it under the sun on time. Hearing that, the students went to the classroom one by one. Collin fetched some medicine. Seeing Leon was taking a nap, he told Leon that he would leave the school for a while. Then Collin went to Livia's home alone. The door of Livia's home was not tightly closed, so Collin pushed it open without much effort.

Noticing nobody was in the courtyard, Collin should leave there immediately. However, Collin didn't leave immediately after being surprised by the tidiness of the courtyard. It was rare to see such a clean courtyard elsewhere.

There were a swing and a desk under the tree. Collin saw the dumb person carry some wooden boards several days ago. Collin also noticed two new small wooden stools beside the table. He guessed a couple would sit on the stools to supervise learning when their kid sat between them.

But that didn't make sense.

Livia lived with only her mother.

As Collin got lost in thought, he suddenly heard the sound of water splashing.

Collin thought maybe the dumb person was in the room.

"Hello?" Collin asked as he walked into the kitchen by following the sound. The door was closed, so he knocked on it and said, "Hello? I am a doctor. I came here before." The water suddenly stopped splashing.

He felt it strange because he did hear the sound in the kitchen.

He tried to push the door, but suddenly a woman shouted, "Don't come in!"

The woman spoke Mandarin with correct pronunciation, but her voice was quite hoarse.

Collin's hair stood on end after he heard her voice.

Collin thought, 'Did I hear it wrong?

Could this woman be her?'

Collin stared at the door for a while and pushed it open.

The woman had her back to Collin. She probably was taking a shower since she fumbled with her clothes. Collin was also shocked to see her back.

Collin instinctively turned around and apologized, "I'm sorry, I..."

He suddenly stopped speaking.

Slowly, Collin turned around again.

The woman still had her back to Collin even if she got dressed.

There was only one woman whose body Collin could be so familiar with that he could recognize the woman from a glimpse of her back. That woman was Roxy. Collin knew the shape of her back well, especially when she was topless.

Collin liked to appreciate her back as he held her hands behind her back. Her neck raised high. Helplessly, she was unable to grab anything with her hands.

"Why don't you turn around?" Collin asked with his eyes fixed on her hair coiled up with a pen.

The woman picked up the towel, wiped her neck and face, and took off her wet clothes. Probably she didn't wipe off the water on her body, and her clothes turned wet.

She picked up the towel on the chair and wrapped herself up with it, then she slowly turned around and walked past Collin freely.

Staring at her face, Collin suddenly couldn't breathe.

"Roxanne?" Collin asked.

The woman did not even cast a glance at him. "I want to change my clothes," she said.

Grabbing her hand, Collin stared at her face until his eyes started burning with tears. It was like a dream for him. Collin couldn't believe the person he kept thinking about would suddenly reappear. Startled, Collin muttered, "Roxanne?"

Roxanne shook off his hand and said with a straight face, "I want to change my clothes!"

After finishing those words, Roxanne directly walked out of the kitchen, entered her room, and closed the door.

Collin waited out of her room for a long time before knocking on the door. "Do you get well dressed now? Come out! Let's have a talk!" Collin said.

After enduring for a long time, Collin tried hard to have suppressed the fierce urge to rush in and hold her in his arms.

However, the woman seemed to be heartless. She was not happy to see him at all. There was no change in her facial expression. In fact, she showed her reluctant attitude to see him when they met. The dumb person returned home before Roxanne opened the door.

The dumb person got furious as soon as he entered the door. He pointed at Collin and cried out.

Roxanne, who was in her room, walked out when she heard the cry. She pulled the dumb person over and talked with him in sign language. After communicating with Roxanne, the dumb person calmed down and pushed Collin out of the room with great wrath.

Collin said patiently, "I'm not gonna fight you. But, stop pushing me! I need to talk with her."

It seemed the dumb person didn't understand Collin's words at all. He kept pushing Collin.

Roxanne suddenly pulled the hand of the dumb person and made some gestures at him. The dumb person looked at Collin and Roxanne, and then he walked towards the kitchen where she had just taken a bath.

There was a fixed time for them to get clean water per day. Therefore, they often spent that time replenishing the water, taking a shower, and washing clothes. Otherwise, they would need more vats and buckets to store clean water.

Only then did Collin notice Livia's skirt hanging in the courtyard.

Collin suddenly forgot he was in Livia's home after recognizing Roxanne and quarreling with the dumb person. He saw Livia's skirt. Then Collin noticed the courtyard was full of Livia's personal things. Finally, he realized that Roxanne had given birth to a child.

Collin thought, 'How old is the child?

Could it be possible that...

Could it be possible that I'm the father of her child?'

Roxanne just raised her head to look at Collin. In the past eight years, her gaze was inane and calm, but her voice was sexily attractive as always.

She entered her room.

Collin followed her.

Collin wondered, 'Her child! Livia!

Am I her father?'

The moment Collin closed the door, he asked, "Livia! Is she my daughter?"

Roxanne sat down and poured herself a cup of water. Then she looked at Collin indifferently and asked, "If she is your daughter, what will you do? Do you want to go to law and take her from me?"

Collin was stunned.

He had never thought things would be so complicated when they met again.

"Why didn't you tell me that?" Collin asked. If he had known she was pregnant, Collin would have ignored all the objections, asked her to be his wife, and taken good care of Livia.

Then they could avoid confrontation.

However, they were sitting face to face.

Between them was a large gap. After living separately for eight years, they acted like strangers.

"Why didn't I tell you that? Well, Doctor Mueller, I have never hidden it from you. But at that time, I wanted to leave you. Do you want to know why?" Roxanne asked after putting the cup down.

Collin was stunned.

"Because you asked me to leave. You told me you were going to get married," Roxanne said clearly while looking into Collin's eyes.
