Billionaire's Regret
Chapter 18:

Annie looked out the window. She barely slept last night. After Aaron was taken away no one bordered to check on her. The daylight was breaking. The sudden ringing of the phone startled her. She quickly reached for it not wanting Leo to

wake yet.

"Hello," she said softly.

"Annie, where are you?"

"Mom,"

"Are you okay darling?"

"I am. I am at Aaron's place. I am just waiting for Leo to wake."

"The town is bussing that Aaron was hurt. Are you safe?"

Annie quickly closed her eyes. She has forgotten to contact her mom and reassured her.

"I am okay Mom. Can you ask James to drive here? I don't want to wait for the boat."

"I will ask him. Annie are you okay?"

"I am Mom. I promise."

"I am worried."

"Why Mom," she look out the window. The so called ghosts from last night were gone. Instinctively though, she trust no one.

"That boy Ricky told me he saw some men circling around the neighborhood."

"I am okay Mom. I see you as soon as James gets here. Talk soon."

Aaron slowly opened his eyes. The first thing he noticed was the white walls and the smell of disinfection. He blinks his eyes several times trying to understand. "Good, you are awake."

"Where am I?" he asked groggily.

"You are in the hospital." Grace reached out to touch his hand. Her fingers slipped between his. "How do you feel? You had me worried babe."

He just looked at her. His mind feels fuzzy. It was like he couldn't think.

"Aaron talk to me." Her hand wonders over his body.

"What happened?"

"You were attack at the mansion."

Aaron looks at her trying to remember.

"Who,"

"Annie Black attack you in a fit of rage."

"I don't understand." Aaron tries to sit upright.

"Don't move so much. Do you have any pain?"

"No. Who are you?"

"What do you mean Aaron?"

He removes his hand from her before rubbing across his eyes. It hurts but he slowly moved into a sitting position. It feels like his head would split into two. He kept his eyes closed until the pain lessens. "Water please,"

Grace carefully helps him to sip water.

"I am taking you home with me. It's nonsense you staying in that old rumbling place. I know we argued but we can overcome any issues."

Aaron said nothing just look at her. He has a kind of sense that something wasn't right with this situation. Try as he might he just can't seem to find a name to call to his aid. The only name he heard here was that of Annie Black. "I told Zac to take care of your office. I am worried about that hit against your head."

Aaron said nothing just closed his eyes.

"James thanks for coming." Annie holds the door wider.

"I didn't know you knew the owner of this place?" James looks around.

"He helped my Mom. I am worried about him."

"He is currently in Cape Cove Hospital. The place is surrounded by guards. We only hear some rumors about the man but judging by those guards this man must be a man of importance."

"I think he is wealthy. Let's go Leo."

Annie locked the mansion behind her. As she turned around she heard the sound of an approaching car. She curiously walked down the steps. She quickly recognized the man as the one who arrived here last night. Once she settles Leo in the back of the car she stood waiting.

"Hey, don't go." The car stop and the man jumped from the vehicle.

"How is Aaron?" she immediately asked.

"You have a nerve to ask woman." Zac instantly went into verbal attack mode.

"What do you mean?" Annie looked truly confused.

"Why did you attack Aaron?" Zac challenged.

"What are you talking about?"

"Its stupid bitches like you who likes to play the victim. I knew in Switzerland you are the money chasing type."

"Annie, let's go." James walks around the car. He placed his body between Annie and Zac.

"Where are the keys?"

"Stay where you are." James opened the door. "Get in the car Annie."

"I want those keys bitch." Zac was now angry.

"You can get it from the local police station." James looks him dead in the eyes.

"Give me the bloody keys." Zac reached behind him for his weapon.

James simply climbed in his car and drove away.

Aaron carefully opened his eyes. He has been listening until he was alone. He very carefully moved until he managed to sit upright. He now slowly dropped his legs onto the floor. The door to the private room opened. "What are you doing sir?" Maude step inside to quickly catch him.

"I need to get out of here." Aaron said winching in pain. "Who is Annie Black?" he questions through clenched teeth.

"You know her?" Maude asked surprise.

"I am not sure. They said her name but I don't trust them."

"I know Annie. You want me to call her?"

"I want to get out of the hospital." Aaron starts to look for his personal belongings. "Where are my things?"

"I assume with doctor Grace Stevens. She told everyone in the hospital that she is your finance."

"I need to get out of here," Aaron managed to stand up.

"Annie..." Hanna opened the door. Her grandson quickly runs into her arms.

"Morning Mom." She walked into the house going directly to her study. She went and sits behind her desk just looking at the keys that was cutting into her palm.

"What's going on Annie?"

"I am not sure Mom."

"James told me a strange man had an attitude with you."

"Zac, he works for Aaron. I called him last night. He arrived with doctor Grace Stevens. They pushed me out of the way. I think they are of the opinion I hurt Aaron. He arrived just as we were leaving. He wanted the keys to the mansion." "Did you give it to him?" Hanna doesn't like this situation.

"I told him to get it at the police station."

"Annie, Hanna!" called James.

"What's going on," Annie quickly left the study.

"Aaron..." she quickly walked forward and catches him in her arms. Maude, what's he doing here?"
