Billionaire's Regret -
Chapter 39:
"Aaron..."
He slowly opened his eyes. He looked confused. His mind still focused on the memory. It was vivid in clarity.
"What happened?"
"I don't know. I just found you like this." Danny quickly handed him a bottle of water.
Aaron slowly sit upright reaching for the water. He can still smell the smoke in his nostrils. He can still feel the fear on his skin. As he keeps blinking his eyes, the picture stays with him now. "Are you okay? Who hit you?" Danny asks softly.
Aaron finally realized he was back in his present. He can't believe how powerful and real that forgotten memory was. He slowly gets back onto his feet. He looked around. The surroundings still look the same. He quietly realizes things started to happen since he put that mysterious ring on his finger. The question now: does he have the ability of premonitions?
"What are you doing in here Danny?" He used the water to rinse the dry blood from his mouth.
"I was worried about you." He said carefully.
"Why?"
"I saw the men beating you. I know I am not allowed in here. I was worried okay."
Aaron stood looking at him. He can hear his heart beat. He can sense his unease. He stood looking at the young boy, he frowns when he noticed a young woman hidden in the back of his mind. Without thinking twice he reaches out to touch him on the shoulder. He shook his head and wonders if he was going crazy.
"I should leave."
"Can I come with you?"
"Why?" Aaron looked at him again. It would seem each time he looked directly into his eyes he noticed the shadowy woman.
"I don't want to stay here. I want to go with you."
"I have nothing to offer you." Aaron wipes across his face. He finally noticed the dry blood on the ring.
"I don't care. I can work hard." Danny said honestly.
Aaron starts to push the motorcycle from the shed. He watched Danny reached for the two helmets before closing the shed door. He curiously wanders why the boy chooses to lock the shed. Once they both were in the street he climbed on. He looked at the boy still holding the helmets.
"How old are you Danny?"
"Fifteen," He said with a smile.
"If I say yes, you are making me responsible for your life. Are you sure?"
"I am Aaron."
"I am no fool. My word is law. Do you agree?"
"I do Aaron." Danny smiles in open happiness. "I did something Aaron." He suddenly confesses. He removed the set of keys from his pocket and gives this to Aaron.
"What is this?" Aaron closed his fingers around it. The powerful surge of rolling premonitions shocks his body into motionlessness. He looked deeply into Danny's eyes seeing his hidden truth. As he slowly blinked his eyes, he saw the shadowy lines of his mother as he still remembers her.
"Aaron..." Danny shook his body anxiously.
"Yes," he blinked his eyes. He was focused on his presence again.
"What's happening to you?"
"What do you mean?"
"You sometimes seem to zone out for a moment."
Aaron looked at the keys in his hand then at the boy. He wasn't sure what was happening. The sudden sound of a vehicle makes him focused on his immediate surroundings.
"What's you hurry Thom?" Gregor was annoyed. He hates being ordered by this man besides him. He is a powerful man but apparently the old man managed to discover his truth.
"We both need to get to the apartment building."
"Why in the middle of the night?"
"You become too accustomed to the easy side of money. You seemed to have forgotten it takes dedication to stay wealthy. It was this complacent behavior of you that created the opportunity for me to make you my bitch." "Fuck you."
The memory now fresh in his mind it didn't take long before Aaron suddenly recognized the route he was on. His heart starts to beat fast. Making sure a couple of motors stay between them as he follows. Questions were swirling around in his mind. He starts to wonder if Annie even knows her family.
He parked the motorcycle a short distance away. Everything seems different in the night. Since the fire years ago it would seem someone did a bit of renovations. It was clear it was no longer a high class area.
"What are we doing here?" Danny has climbed from the back of the motorcycle.
"I am curious about something." Aaron looked at him. He was now aware that the boy seems nervous. "You seem familiar with this area Danny." He said on impulse.
"Why would you say that?"
"Danny; I am letting you into my life. As an adult I will be selective in answering some of the questions you might ask. But until you have come of age, I want honesty when I ask you something. Okay?" "I know why Thom Black comes here." Danny suddenly balls his fists.
"Tell me."
"My sister,"
"I thought you were an orphan." Aaron looked into his eyes again. The shadowy woman seems to reach towards him.
"My parents died in that fire. My sister was blinded but she refuses to leave the building. Thom and Gregor bought the building with her inside it." He said through gritted teeth.
Aaron keeps looking at the building. He searches his memory. He only recalls seeing his mother fleetingly. In truth if he didn't mistake, he did thought someone else might have been there. "What does he want from your sister Danny?"
"I don't know."
"Stay here."
Aaron quickly walked across the street. He enters the building. On instinct he made his way towards the second floor, walking towards the last door at the end of the hall. The door stood slightly opened.
"Sylvia, you don't have a choice." Gregor stood in front of the too slender woman her sightless eyes clearly furious.
"I am not afraid of you." The woman said defensively.
"You should be. I have your brother. I can make him vanish." The vindictiveness was clear in his tone of voice.
"Danny can take care of himself." She crosses her arms over her chest.
"I am not telling you again; Sylvia. You will be ready. I will send my driver to get you." Gregor reached for her.
"What is going on here?" Aaron asked smiling in his usual manner.
"What the hell are you doing here?" Thom Black makes his appearance coming from the direction he remembers his mother doing so years ago.
"I followed you." Aaron said smiling.
"You have a nerve. It seems you need another beat down fool."
"You could try. I just don't know how effective it's going to be."
"I am not afraid of you."
"You should be. I have nothing to lose." Aaron said smiling. He steps into the apartment. A moment he felt paralyzed with fear once he was over the threshold. The smell of fire and fear was suddenly in his nostrils. He felt dizzy. "What's wrong with you?" Gregor ask. He suddenly laughed. "Don't worry. I have the remedy for your problem."
"I feel..." Aaron suddenly remembers the strange taste in his mouth too.
"I know what you need." Gregor lifts his hand and slapped him through the face. Aaron staggers back out of the apartment feeling dizzy and disoriented. Gregor follows making use of the opportunity to punch him in the stomach. He was feeling very brave watching the bigger man bending over.
"This will teach you in future to mind your own business." Gregor hits him behind the head. He dropped onto the floor unconscious.
"Hey, wake up."
Aaron felt his body being shaken. He tries his best to open his eyes. At the same time he doesn't want to though as he keeps reaching to look behind the curtain in his mind.
"Where are they?" He mumbles.
"They left. Get on your feet."
"Danny..." Aaron finally opened his eyes. He slowly searches the surroundings. The apartment door stood opened. He starts to scramble onto his feet. "Where is Sylvia?" "They took her."
Aaron can taste the blood inside his mouth.
"I really should stop allowing that idiot to hit me. It's time that they regret their actions." Aaron wipe across his mouth.
"Who are you?" Danny asks.
"I am someone who denied his own personality for too long."
"What do you mean Aaron?"
"Let me just say it like this: it's twice they made me bleed. Well it's time for payback. First order of business...what's Gregor's obsession with your sister Sylvia? I enjoy playing the fool. Well this fool can play any game. I will be the victor in the
end."
