~Sofia~

The teardrop chandelier on the ceiling shifted like stars in the galaxy, moving in tune with my heart. Each bulb tw*nkled, fluttering with the pulsing beating of my heart. Chase is kissing me.. on the lips.

Oh, my G*d!

If there was a heaven on earth, this was it. The hopeless romantic little girl inside me was jumping on the tramp*line, doing all the tricks known to mankind.

A first kiss shouldn't feel this good before. It should be awkward, embarrassing, and uncertain.

As though Chase was asking for permission, his thumb continued gently tracing my jawline. He opened his mouth, sucking my lower lip.

I want to pull away and pull him closer at the same time.

What the hell is happening? Why is Chase kissing me? Is this alcohol talking? He's drunk, and I'm not. Teasing me to let him in, he jutted out his tongue and seamed my lips. My conscious mind winning over my drunken heart, I squirmed from his hold. His grip on my waist tightened as he groaned a protest.

My answer was a moan in objection, splaying my palms on his chest. I aimed to push him away, but my fingers had a mind of their own, clutching his shirt. My lips, too, were dumb and st*pid, allowing Chase entry. It was the end. My heart won over my mind. The moment his tongue met mine, I got lost in his taste.

One word.

Intoxicating.

Tasting alcohol from another person's mouth had never felt this erotic.

I whimpered, giving in. I knew I would regret this, but I wanted to know... what is it that I wanted to know? I had no idea.

Like a wild beast released from his cage, Chase groaned and cradled my backside, guiding me to straddle him. I moved, following his guide, my fingers relishing the softness of his curls as I buried them in his hair. "F*ck," Chase murmured, pulling away, giving me time to breathe. We locked eyes for three seconds. I only got one of those seconds to walk away from this situation.

I don't know what has gotten into me, but I crushed our mouths together, throwing all rational thoughts out of the open balcony, watching as it nose-dived on the busy street below.

Chase's hands roam on my back, scaling my spine. One hand settled on my butt, squeezing, while the other stayed on my lower back, guiding my hips over his hardening erection. And my G*d, he's packing!

I whimpered, lost in where I should focus. As the kiss took place, everything faded into the background: the worries clouded my head and the pain in my chest. This felt like coming home to a place I haven't seen in a long time.

Too busy tasting Chase's lips, I didn't realize his hands slipped under my top. Warm palms left flickers of fire in their wake as they skimmed my backside, drawing a delicious line under my bra.

A pool of hot mess made my panties slick. My body responded eagerly to Chase's touch. He seamed the underside of my bra. When his thumb slipped under the cup and flicked my nipples like a switch, my irrational thoughts came to life.

I pulled away from his lips, pressing my forehead on his. We chased our breaths like we ran a marathon for days.

We stayed frozen on the couch. Time ticked by with us holding each other, deep in our thoughts.

Chase removed his hand under my shirt. I felt devastatingly cold as he did. It took me tons of courage to remove myself from his lap, settling on the empty space beside him and enduring the excruciating silence floating above our heads.

"I should go." Chase ran his hands over his face and left without waiting for my response. Alone, confused, and unsure of what just happened, I dragged myself into my room and flopped on the bed

face first. I'd deal with this sh*t in the morning. For now, I need some rest.

The annoying buzz of the doorbell woke me up the next day. Some sentences are incomplete if you are not reading this novel on FindNovel.net. Visit FindNovel.net to read the complete chapters for free. I groped for a pillow and covered my head with it, hoping whoever it was would just go away and let me sleep on a Saturday.

I created a diabolical plan last night while dozing off. I will lie on this bed all day and let the world do what it's meant to do. This has been a really tiring week.

I sighed when the buzzing stopped, curling beneath the comforter, ready to go back to sleep.

Groaning, I threw the pillow on the door when a continuous rap echoed.

I had no choice but to open the door, since the intruder seemed to have access to the penthouse. I really have to find a place of my own if I want peace.

"Good morning, Sunshine," Rafael's smile was blinding, like the sun at its peak on a summer day.

I rolled my eyes and spun on my heels, ready to head back to bed, but Rafael caught my wrist.

"Ah ah," his enthusiastic tone was hurting my ears.

"Let me rest," I groaned, tugging my hand from his hold.

"We have a long day ahead of us," he said, dragging me to the walk-in closet.

"I have a lazy day ahead of me," I said, walking out of the closet with half-closed eyes.

Rafael snat*hed my wrist, dragging me with him as he flipped through the small pile of clothes hanging in the close to empty closet. "This won't do," he murmured under his breath like he was fashion police raiding my wardrobe. "Did you leave in a hurry?" Rubbing my eyes, I hummed a yes. "Did Chase forget to mention that I ran away from Boston? Coz my fiance. now ex, got someone else pregnant, and they're about to get married in a month?"

Rafael paused, intent brown eyes studying me. "No sh*t. No wonder he's so mad about that dipsh*t," he murmured the last sentence to himself, but I heard it anyway.

"What do you mean?" I asked. His words were cold water thrown onto my face.

Shaking his head, Rafael pulled the yellow summer dress from the hanger and draped it over my shoulder. "Get dressed."

"What do you mean 'he's so mad about that dipsh*t?' Who's he?" I pressed.

"Get dressed. We're already late," he insisted, opening the underwear drawer.

I pushed the drawer close, standing between it and Rafael. "Alright... that's too much invasion of privacy. Get out. I'll be ready at ten."

"Ten? Ten minutes?"

I nodded a yes.

"Really?"

I glared at him.

Although he seemed unconvinced, he left and allowed me to get ready in peace.
