~Sofia~

My hands were tense around Chase's waist, getting tighter every time he'd swerve on street corners. Although I wore a helmet, the wind swayed the ends of my hair and seeped into my clothes, caressing my skin. My skirt rolled indecently up my thighs. The night was warm and humid. The street was busy, alive, and full of life, the complete opposite of what I felt. Despite my fear of riding a motorcycle, I was reminded how I'd enjoyed riding one before Mile's accident. I like it, being one with the wind.

Chase was driving over the speed limit now that we were out of the city streets, pushing on the seaside road. I got the ocean on my left; the water réflecting the large moon above. The waves sparkle yellow and gray as it glides to the shore. On the right, I got the city. The lights fade, creating beautiful technicolor strands, chaotic and messy, contrary to the still stars in the sky. I lost track of how long we'd been driving, but I couldn't care less about the danger of riding a motorcycle, much less holding tight to Chase's solid torso and wondering if he could still breathe.

Chase pulled to a complete stop in front of a bar. 'The Den' in neon green light was too bright to ignore, scribbled in cursive writing above the entryway.

We are in another town, less chaotic than the city we left behind. Motorcycles lined the parking lot, not a four-wheel car in sight.

Chase hopped off the motorcycle. I unclipped the helmet under my chin, squealing as Chase gripped my waist, lifting me easily from the bike. Ready to argue with him, I choked on my words when he spun me to face him. His long, gentle fingers unclipped the helmet.

I blinked up at him. "I can do that."

"Did I say you can't?" he asked, pulling the helmet up. He hung it on Harley's handle, caught my wrist, and dragged me inside the biker's bar.

Finding an open booth, I slid into the beat-up leather seat and pulled the menu to my eye level. My mouth watered at the greasy, cheesy goodness on the list. A waitress came to our table, drinking the sight of Chase with a glimmer in her eyes. "Haven't seen you in a while," she said, reaching for Chase's shoulder with her red talons.

Chase smirked, eyeing the woman's bust. Her white top half unbuttoned at the top. She leaned forward, enticing him. "What can I give you?" She asked. Her insinuation made me glower.

"Scotch, neat. Double cheeseburger with extra bacon and fries," he nodded toward me.

"Same as him." I gave her the menu and watched as she left, wagging her hips dramatically from side to side. Snorting, my eyes met Chase's blue eyes, and his smirk broadened. "What?" I asked self-consciously, squirming under his gaze. "This side of you fascinates me," he said, curiosity evident in his gaze. I don't know what he meant, but I found myself watching his lips utter each word. So red and full that it's like a woman owns it.

"Why is that?" I looked away, confused by what I felt. I shouldn't be lusting over another man when my ex just popped out of nowhere to plead his undying love for me.

"You changed. You're still my Sunshine but not," he shook his head, frowning, evidently confused by his own statement.

"A long time had gone by," I insisted. "You changed too, in some aspects....

"What are those aspects? That didn't change," he asked, eyes narrowing.

The image of him and Carlota at his office and Eros' club crossed my mind. There was no reason for me to fee! anything about what he does in his free time. I am nothing but his publicist, so I leaned into that. "This is not the time." I bit my lip, watching the people around us.

Chase huffed, leaning forward and resting his elbow on the table. "You got something to say. Say it."

I sighed, pinching my eyes closed, pondering on my next words. With a determined facade, I tipped my chin. "As your publicist, I advise you to stop screwing around in public." "You mean 'stop screwing Carlota?"" My breath caught in my throat at his tone, my cheeks heating up.

Chase might seem cool and easygoing on the outside, but he is pretty observant in his surroundings. I should change tactics if I want to keep things between us professionally.

Swallowing hard, I held his gaze. "Her and every girl you see at clubs and parties. Keep your s****l endeavors private. Take them out of town, on trips, but not here, at least for a while."

He leaned back, draping an arm over the backrest of his seat. "How long is a while?"

I expect him to argue, to tell me I have no right to tell him what to do. It's like he's willing to compromise, and that is good... I think. "Until we convince the public and the board that you are not screwing every girl who'd throw themselves at you, or until my contract is done."

His eyes darkened, but the server came back with our orders. I breathe, grateful for the pause, reaching for my drink. My throat was as dry as the desert.

"I will do everything you tell me to do," Chase said. My hand paused mid-air, reaching for the burger. "On one condition."

I knew there was a catch. Chase would never do anything without reason. I took a huge bite of my burger, the cheesy and greasy delight exploding inside my mouth. "What?" I wiped my mouth with the napkin.

"No girls for me, and you won't talk to the f*cker again without telling me." He said thoughtfully, taking a small drink from his glass.

I was thinking of a way to open up the topic about Kyle. Good thing he was the first to mention him. I tossed a few fries in my mouth. "How did you know who Kyle was?"

"I know a lot of things, Sofia," he answered vaguely, but his dangerous undertone enticed gooseflesh to blanket my skin. 'What other things does he know about Kyle and me? Did he do a background check on me?" "Do we have a deal?"

It's not like I intend to talk to Kyle again because if I did, I wouldn't leave Boston in the first place. So saying yes to this deal was easy. It's a win-win. "That's fine by me. But what if Kyle shows up again, like tonight?"

Knowing Kyle, he wouldn't stop just like that. He was smart, persistent, and patient, especially when he had a goal in his sight. It's what makes him a threat on court.

"You have to tell me. Keeping a secret between us is not an option," Chase insisted.

I tilt my head to the side. "Does that mean you are willing to tell me who you're spending your free time with?" He nodded, downing his scotch. I watched as his throat bobbed up and down. H licked his lip. I swallowed hard, meeting Chase's eyes. He smirked. "Or I can just spend my free time with you, Sunshine."

The air suddenly shifted. A wave of heat passed through me, but instead of directing it to my cheeks, it pulsed on my core. Beneath the table, I crossed my legs slowly, attempting to seem unruffled by his innuendo. "You have a deal, Montiero."
