Blurred Lines 1: CHASE -
Chapter 34
-Sofia-
Not even halfway through the movie, I had already screamed my heart out and used throws as shields and weapons to smack Chase in the head for making fun of me.
"Chase!" I grunted, reaching for the remote. Chase had one hand covering my entire face while the other held, the remote away from my reach. I was on my knees, hands stretched out, trying to match Chase's long reach but to no avail. I could only smack him in the head for laughing uncontrollably at my expense.
Annoyed, I reached for his ear and twisted it. "Hey! Ow... Aw!" he hissed. I got a good hold of his ear, never letting go. "Truce! Trucel" he cried. "Remote!" I retorted.
"Fine! On three."
"One, two, three," we counted at the same time. I released his ear, and he dropped the remote on the coffee table.
"Geez," he rubbed his ear. It was already purple. "What did my poor ear ever do to you, Sunshine. You're so brute," he murmured, pouting. Ignoring his protest, I turned the television off and sighed when the screen darkened. "Finally," I said, plonking on the couch, legs spread wide as I rested my head on the backrest. Trying to fight off Chase was a testament to my strength. He had been holding back for my sake, but I was in full force.
Without the suspenseful movie sound, the thunder rumbling outside became more apparent. The storm was already here. We closed the windows and pulled the curtains down, but the rain's pitter-patter and whoosh of the wind could not be prevented. "Now what?" he asked, mimicking my sitting position, our knees touching as we stared at the ceiling.
"We get ready to sleep?" It was a question rather than a suggestion. A movie marathon is out of the question. Chase made it clear that since it was his account, he gets to decide on the movie. For argument's sake, I said he was using my television in my place, and we argued indeed. It ended in a brutal ear-pinching and face-smacking bout.
"Can you sleep in this weather?" he sounded worried, which made me wonder. Did he purposely come here because he knew a storm was coming in? or was this just a coincidence? He couldn't have possibly predicted that Andre wouldn't be able to pick me up, right?
"I'll try," I said. Whenever there was a storm coming in, I usually slept over at Jessica's. She is a weather freak, after all. She never goes out of her apartment without checking the weather. Jessica is my personal weather checker.
"It's still early," Chase murmured. "How about we play a game?"
"I don't have board games." That's what we used to do to kill time back in the day.
"We have phones and apps," he said, sitting up. He pulled out his phone, scrolling through it with his lower lip pulled between his teeth. "Ah, this. Truth or dare?" He showed me the app he was already downloading. Humming, I said, "alright." I had tons of questions I wanted to ask him, anyway.
"Casual, dirty, dirty extreme?" Chase asked.
"Casual," I said without missing a beat.
Chase raised his brows. "Come on, Sunshine. Where's the fun in that?"
I chewed my lip, hesitating.
"Let's have a deal. You can change the truths to your own questions. I'll answer them truthfully if you choose extreme."
I knew it was a risk I shouldn't take, but his offer was hard to decline. He was really good at making deals. I contemplated. Can I blame this on the alcohol tomorrow? Oh, f**k it. "Fine, extreme..."
Chase smiled victoriously, typing our names as players. "I'll make sure you won't regret this." "I'm already regretting this."
He placed the phone between us while we settled, facing each other. "Lady's first?" he offered, eyes dancing with delight.
I pressed the truth, and the question flashed, making me blush while I read through it. 'Does size really matter?'
My eyes locked with Chase. He waited for my answer, daring me to answer. "Uhm... yes," I squeaked, reaching for my wine glass and taking a sip.
'What have I gotten myself into?"
Chase didn't comment, and to my surprise, he chose truth. 'Have you ever filmed a s*x tape?"
"Do you want to ask your own question?" he asked.
"I do," I replied without delay. Although I was also curious to know Chase's answer to the question, I was more interested in his story. "My question earlier... about your surname."
"To cut the long story short, my biological father had to adopt me for my inheritance. I was an illegitimate child, and I have no claim on anything. As for why there was no public record about it, it's what money can do, Sofia... it could bury people's dirt." There was an underlying anger in his tone. Maybe I just imagined it, so I let it slide, choosing truth again. 'Have you ever faked an o****m?"
I want the ground to swallow me now. "Yes," I said truthfully.
"Can I ask why and with whom?" Chase asked, his eyes probing.
I shrugged. Since we were being honest tonight, I answered his question. "With Kyle. Sometimes he finishes
quickly, and I hate the look of disappointment on his face, so I had to fake it."
Chase didn't comment and pressed truth again. My brows creased. "What?"
"I just didn't expect you to choose truth, is all."
"Maybe I want you to get to know me again, Sunshine," he explained.
'What's your biggest turn-on."
"Gonna change it?" he asked. My ears were in flames, but I shook my head. Curiosity will be the death of me. "Loose shirt, panties, no bra, and freshly shaved legs. That's my biggest turn-on."
His eyes never left mine, and mine stayed glued to his. My core quivered at the thought of doing that for him. All I had to do was remove my sweats and bra.
'My God, Sofia! It's just a game!'
"Uhm... okay." The alcohol and the distraction of Chase's heated gaze were an excellent combination to derail my senses. Without looking, I pressed the screen, and a dare popped on the screen. "Shit." 'Crawl on the ground seductively."
