Blurred Lines 1: CHASE -
Chapter 36
-Sofia-
I kept a poker face when inside; my organs were jumbled. My heart crept into my throat, causing me to breathe hard. My blood was flowing at inhuman speed; it was a wonder why my veins hadn't exploded yet. Like a jaguar, slick and agile, ready to catch its prey, Chase stood and paused in front of me. He opened his palms. "Shall we?"
I shook my head. "We don't have to."
"It's just a game, Sofia," he cleared, his face void of emotions. "You completed your dare perfectly and without hesitation. Wouldn't it be unfair if I don't do mine?"
I know that look. He's enjoying my reaction too much. I stood on wobbly legs and placed my hand on his. If I thought he'd take me to the bedroom, I was so wrong.
Chase guided me to the breakfast bar. A muffled thunder rumbled outside. The lights flickered, orchestrating goosebumps to blanket my body.
Warm fingers traced my knuckles. Chase moved behind me. "I don't have a special move, Sofia..." my name tumbled down his lips like honey. "You don't?"
"I don't," he said, resting his hands on my shoulder. He gathered my hair to one side. I gasped. His soft lips were warm against the exposed skin on the junction of my neck and shoulder. "I fuck hard. But when I make love, everything I do is special," he ended this statement by trapping my earlobes between his lips.
My belly coiled with anticipation as he snaked one hand around my waist, guiding me to face the breakfast bar. Trapped between the counter and Chase's body, I whimpered as the lights flickered again.
"So if I were to make love to you, I'd take you the way you wanted to be taken... by doing it my way," he said. 'Oh my God...
My eyes fluttered close as he nestled the bulge between his legs on my a*s. Some sentences are incomplete if you are not reading this novel on FindNovel.net. Our eyes locked on the glass door of the kitchen cabinet. "Once I'm satisfied, and you're writhing with the need to be filled, I'd push my finger inside you, feel how wet you are...."
"
"Chase..." I mewled, pushing my ass against him. I was so close to begging him to do everything he was saying.
"Then I'd f**k you until you scream my name, Sofia," he said, his hand resting on the underside of my breast as he drew me impossibly close. I tipped my head back, offering him my neck. He scaled it with his lips. His warm breath burned my skin.
I squealed when he suddenly pushed me forward, bending me over the counter. I gripped the counter tight until my knuckles turned white. He weaved his fingers through my hair, tugging my head backward.
My legs quivered, the pulse in my center intensified. "Yould feel me so fucking deep," he said, "just like how you wanted to be taken."
Sweat dribbled down my spine. I was catching my breath, and I needed a new set of underwear. The one I had on was soaking wet, like it had been under an angry storm.
Silence sailed in the air in tune with the electric charge, ready to set fire at the slightest spark. "..." I cleared my throat. "I think that concludes this game?"
Chase released my hair, stepping away. I felt a devastating cold without him behind me. "It does."
I ran my fingers through my hair, licking my lips as I leaned my b**t on the counter. "I'll just get the spare. blanket and pillows."
Chase hummed a yes. Grateful for the reason to leave, I dashed to my room like Usain Bolt.
Once in the safety of my room, I breathe in. I never needed air the way I needed it now. Running my clammy palms on my sweatpants, I pulled blankets and pillows from the closet. Good thing I already did the laundry last night. Chase was on the couch when I went out, drinking wine, He looks calm and collected, a stark contrast to my current state.
I placed the pillows and blanket on the end of the couch. Will you be okay here?" I asked, eyeing the difference between the couch and his length. I don't have to be an expert to know he'd have difficulty sleeping in it.
"I'll manage. Get some rest," he said detachedly. His voice was as cold as ice.
"Uhm... okay," I frowned. "I'll be in my room, then," I said, confused by the sudden change in his mood.
I settled on my bed. I tried, at least. As the storm got stronger, I grew restless. Good thing the power didn't go out. I grabbed my Odette Stone book from the bedside table and continued where I was with Viktor and. Blaire's story. How ironic was it that they were hiding from the storm, too. The bathtub became their hideout. for protection.
My eyes were growing tired, even though my mind was still wide awake. I yawned and closed the book, reaching for my glass of water, finding it empty..
I went out for a refill. Using the dimmed corner light as my only guide, I walked on instinct to sink and fill my glass.
Thunder cracked outside, startling me. I shivered, ready to run back into my room, stopping short of bumping into Chase.
"Chase..." I exhaled, my eyes dropping to his naked chest. "I... I just need a drink," I explained, lifting my glass. "Good night..." I skirted past him, but he gripped my forearm, keeping me in place. Glancing back at him, I got lost in his midnight-blue eyes. They were filled with need, sinful promises, and everything in between.
"Chase..." I gasped; my throat was suddenly as dry as the desert.
"Sofia..." he murmured, a plea, a request for permission.
I pulled my arm from his hold, noting how loose it had been. He was giving me a choice to walk away from this, to run for the hills. But damn it, I wanted him... I wanted him ten years ago, and I still want him now. My situation with Kyle was on the back of my head, and he knew that too.
Facing him, I set the glass down on the counter. "I'm still confused, Chase. I don't know what this is between us."
His eyes dropped to my lips, skimming down my body. I was wearing a loose shirt and panties... no bra. That's how I sleep, and not because of what he said before, but that doesn't matter. His eyes tell me how much he desires me.
"It can be whatever you want it to be," he offered, his jaw clenching. "But fuck, Sofia, I can't get you out of my head."
His hands were clenched to his side, and I could practically hear his molars grind. "So fucking bad... it's driving me crazy to be so close to you, yet unable to touch you. I'm afraid to ruin what we have."
I was afraid of that too, and a lot more. But at that moment, I was drunk with how Chase was eyeing me. Like I was the last slice of his favorite blueberry cheesecake, and he was ready to fight anyone over me.
He stepped forward and pressed our foreheads together. "Sofia..."
And it happened. Our lips molded perfectly as thunderstorms belched outside, and the fire between Chase and I ignited wildfire, burning my sanity to the ground.
